"City Lord, what happened?"
Noticing Old Book's sudden change in expression, Leo Ray imdiately inquired.
"Lord Brave, the Underground Fortress protecting Observation City is under attack by 'Corrosion'!"
Old Book waved his hand, and a large map materialized, showing the topography of Observation City.
From the map, one could see that near Observation City, there was another sizable fortress. The two ford a mutual defensive position, not far apart.
"There's no ti to lose, let's set off for reinforcent. Please, Old City Lord, lead the way."
Without hesitation, Leo Ray stood up from his seat.
Leo Ray understood clearly that although the prompting voice did not specify the penalty for failing to defend the city, since there was a lone city awaiting support, the outco was all too obvious.
Once the city was breached by 'Corrosion', our side would inevitably face the fate of destruction.
"Thank you, Your Excellency. The teleportation array leading to the fortress is just outside the Great Temple!"
Old Book nodded to Leo Ray and then took the lead, guiding everyone swiftly out of the temple.
In no ti, the group, moving at lightning speed, arrived in front of another large teleportation array within the city. There, a long line had already ford, with many fully ard elite soldiers entering the array in succession, making the scene tense and solemn.
"City Lord, besides one Divine Stone General staying to defend the city, the other two have already reached the fortress!"
The middle-aged General nad Curry approached and reported to Old Book.
"Very well, you stay here, and I will lead the brave heroes for reinforcent!"
Book nodded to Curry, instructing, "The enemy is extrely cunning, we cannot rule out the possibility of a diversion."
"Understood!"
Curry saluted with a hand over his chest, then instructed the soldiers in front of the teleportation array to make way.
Upon hearing that the brave Leo Ray and his companions were heading for reinforcent, all the soldiers were filled with exhilaration and cast respectful glances at Leo Ray's group.
But Leo Ray keenly noticed that these glances contained not only respect and excitent but also a hint of sorrow and helplessness.
"It's no wonder; 'Corrosion' is terrifying beyond asure. It's not surprising for ordinary soldiers to react this way."
Without much thought, Leo Ray led his group into the teleportation array under Old Book's guidance.
The familiar feeling of lightness flashed by, and as Leo Ray's vision cleared, he found himself on a bustling drill ground.
He saw the human soldiers who had just arrived for reinforcent quickly forming ranks, heading toward the towering fortress walls. Besides them, Leo Ray also noticed so Dwarf Elf soldiers and Alchemy Puppets.
Despite these soldiers being above Tier 4 and looking well-trained, a sense of evident anxiety quickly perated the air.
"Lord Brave, please follow this way with the old !"
Book clutched his Divine Stone Staff tightly, once again leading the way ahead.
After another swift journey, Leo Ray and a hundred others quickly ascended the fortress walls.
When Leo Ray and the others finally saw the enemy outside the fortress, they couldn't help but open their eyes wide.
In the sky, at close range, countless 'Corrosion', in various colors, were all hovering, using their slender tendrils to frantically attack the Absolute Defense Barrier of the fortress.
With each touch of those slender tendrils, the barrier wall emitted a deep, resonant sound, like a death knell echoing in one's ears, reverberating in everyone's hearts.
Moreover, the fear brought by 'Corrosion' was ever-present, causing everyone to feel an imdiate chill.
For a mont, the countless 'Corrosion' tendrils wildly danced in the air, stretching as far as the eye could see. Though no battle cries were heard, it was an extrely alarming sight.
Fortunately, Leo Ray brought mostly Tier 6 experts. As for Tier 4s like Kara, Calvin, and Old Nick, they were stationed in the temple, so by mobilizing their inner energy, they could resist the fear's influence.
In addition, the golden gleam flickering on the fortress's Absolute Defense Barrier was dimming to the naked eye, and cracks began to faintly appear.
"Lord Brave, this is the enemy's main attack direction, other directions are defended by other Divine Stone Generals, leave this to us!"
Old Book took the lead, and as he waved his staff, a giant golden beam descended from the sky, striking the nearest 'Corrosion'.
Wherever the golden beam covered, all 'Corrosion' seed to be heavily battered, falling to the ground in droves, with the central ten or so vanishing in an instant, leaving only puddles of mucous that quickly evaporated.
anwhile, golden glows flickered over the soldiers around Old Book, who all fired arrows, bringing down so 'Corrosion'. Often it took several arrows to blast one, evidently sharing Old Book's Power of the Stars.
However, facing tens of thousands of 'Corrosion', such attacks were evidently negligible, rely stalling the enemy's offensive slightly, without any decisive effect.
"It's my turn to step in now."
With a wave of his hand, Leo Ray summoned Little Jie, Xiao Jing, and Sheila, and the Power of Divine Grace followed like a shadow, directly activating the Power of the Stars in the three Stone Spirits.
