Hearing Belith’s words, Irene and Aiden imdiately looked in the direction he was staring.
Right beside Belith’s massive head, a faint, semi-transparent figure hovered in midair. He held an open, heavy book, wore glasses, and gazed calmly at Belith.
Irene’s eyes were full of confusion—she had no idea who this person was.
But Aiden recognized him at once. It was WraithJack!
Aiden, who had been ready to fight to the death, suddenly felt imnse relief.
With the mysterious WraithJack here, whatever happened, the outco should be far better than before!
"Whoever you are, this is a matter within The Swarm. You should not interfere, or you’ll be in serious trouble," Belith said, his expression grave.
Monts ago, he had been talking about killing Aiden and destroying The Black City. Now, he suddenly beca much more restrained, even trying to use The Swarm to intimidate WraithJack.
Because as an upper Demon God, he couldn’t detect WraithJack’s power at all!
"Damn it. This Wraith is standing right in front of , yet I can’t sense his presence. This guy is definitely not ordinary!"
"How could such a powerful being be near The Black City? Could this area be his territory?" Belith thought to himself instinctively.
He tried to recall carefully and confird that he had never seen this Wraith before.
Then, Belith took a deep breath and spoke slowly: "If I accidentally entered your territory, I’ll leave imdiately after handling this matter. I won’t stay long."
WraithJack calmly closed the book in his hands, adjusted his glasses, glanced at Belith, and replied:
"You’re afraid."
Belith’s expression instantly froze. He looked at Irene and Aiden, then suddenly smiled and said:
"Afraid? At this stage, even if our Swarm’s Supre God hasn’t awakened, there are hardly any powers stronger than ."
"Who are you, really?"
As soon as he spoke, the semi-transparent threads on Belith’s skin suddenly detached. They spread out like a spiderweb, covering the entire space.
WraithJack casually lifted his heavy book and said slowly,
"Strength cos from knowledge. The spatial laws you’ve mastered have many fatal flaws in my eyes."
"The formation principle of space, its stability, the Force of Laws’ reaction to space..."
As WraithJack kept speaking, golden characters flew rapidly from his book.
Belith’s pupils shrank sharply. He couldn’t tell what skill the other was using or what kind of Force of Laws he commanded.
"Who are you?" Belith asked again, though this ti, his body began to retreat slowly.
In the next instant, the golden characters suddenly burst with blinding golden light.
Under that light, the semi-transparent threads resembling a spiderweb quickly lted away.
Seeing this, Belith’s eyes widened with panic and fear.
That was his attack, ford using spatial Force of Laws!
Even other upper Demon Gods from The Abyss would take considerable ti to just damage those transparent threads.
But damage, not total destruction!
"You’ve provoked an entity you shouldn’t have. If you don’t want to die, get lost," WraithJack said calmly.
Belith instinctively glanced at Irene, his face filled with shock. He blurted out,
"This Wraith is here to help you?"
Irene was confused and puzzled, but she wasn’t stupid. She realized that, under these circumstances, she likely wouldn’t be in any real danger now.
But in the next mont, Irene’s sense of relief vanished instantly.
She watched as the Wraith slowly turned his head, flew toward Aiden, and completely ignored her.
"Finished... That Wraith is here for Aiden. The only thing I can do now is hope Belith gets scared off," Irene thought, helpless.
When she first saw Aiden, she had assud he belonged to Belith and even thought his power was too weak.
But now, she suddenly realized that Aiden was anything but simple!
At that mont, Belith’s gaze shifted sharply from WraithJack to Irene.
He tried again, sending one semi-transparent thread slowly toward her.
At the sa ti, he kept a close eye on WraithJack.
When he saw that WraithJack wasn’t trying to stop him, a wave of relief washed over him.
"So this guy is only here for that human. Good... really good. I didn’t kill that human right away after all," Belith thought.
Even though he was very curious about the identities of both Aiden and WraithJack, his top priority was still to control Irene and take her back.
As long as he could get the Swarm’s secret treasure, his plan would move forward much more easily.
Right now, hopelessness filled Irene’s eyes. She knew that if the Wraith didn’t intervene, she had no chance of escaping!
"Aiden, help ! Please, help !"
"If you save , I’ll do anything!" Irene shouted loudly, throwing all her strength to fly toward Aiden.
Her eyes were fixed on Aiden and WraithJack, praying for a sign of hope.
Aiden took a deep breath and quickly turned to look at WraithJack.
He knew the key to everything lay with WraithJack.
Otherwise, even if he wanted to seize this chance to learn the location of the Swarm’s secret treasure from Irene, there would be no hope at all.
"I just don’t want to watch you die. What happens to other people, or any Abyss creatures, is none of my business," WraithJack said calmly.
He floated in front of Aiden and continued, "Let’s go. We should head back to The Black City."
Aiden sighed. He didn’t even know why WraithJack was helping him, let alone how to ask him to help Irene.
All he could do was watch as the hope in Irene’s eyes quickly turned into endless despair.
"Hmph, co back with , Irene. Stop fighting uselessly," Belith said, his voice now steady.
As long as he didn’t attack that human, he reasoned, things should be fine.
Still, Belith gave Aiden a sharp look. As an upper Demon God, he could see through any disguise.
"I’ll rember this damn human!" Belith thought, his eyes flashing with a hint of killing intent before fading away.
Right now, his only goal was to capture Irene. Everything else was secondary.
anwhile, Irene took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down.
A sudden idea struck her: "Better to risk it all than be caught by Belith and lose all hope of revenge."
"This human nad Aiden has Mythic Rank items, and that Wraith who scares Belith so much is here for him."
"I’ll gamble. I’ll bet on him growing strong quickly, and I’ll bet on my own survival!"
Suddenly, light blazed in Irene’s eyes. Seeing the semi-transparent threads just about to touch her, she didn’t hesitate. She unleashed her last ace!
"Blood Escape Art!" she roared.
Almost her entire body instantly shattered into thousands of thumb-sized red mosquitoes.
The mont they appeared, those mosquitoes exploded into a blood mist.
In an instant, Irene’s speed skyrocketed. Her body shot through the air like lightning, leaving behind a red phantom, rushing directly toward Aiden.
WraithJack frowned. He turned to look at Irene, ready to strike and stop her advance.
At that mont, Aiden suddenly spoke up. "Wait. Can you give her a chance?"
He wasn’t trying to be a hero for a pretty girl. He just wanted the secret treasure of the Swarm.
If Irene got taken back by Belith, that treasure would likely end up in Belith’s hands.
That would make the Swarm, a race from the Abyss, much stronger.
If the Swarm ever tried to invade Earth in the future, it would only be more troubleso.
Aiden really wanted to seize this rare opportunity to find out where the Swarm’s secret treasure was, straight from Irene.
There was another important reason, too. Just now, Belith had tried to kill him. Without WraithJack showing up, Aiden would have been in huge danger.
That was sothing he couldn’t stand.
Saving Irene would definitely make Belith extrely unhappy.
"As for whether he’ll hold a grudge, that’s not that important. Once I enter the Abyss, I’ll have to keep using the identity of Slaughter Demon Aelris," Aiden thought to himself.
Just then, WraithJack turned around and looked at Aiden, speaking quietly:
"I’ve been clear enough. Apart from you, it doesn’t matter at all if Irene lives or dies."
"For so reason, I can’t interfere too much."
Aiden watched as Irene flew closer. He took a deep breath. He saw the light in her eyes and realized she must have a plan.
True to his guess, Irene shouted loudly as she flew toward them: "Give a chance! I’m willing to make Aiden my master!"
The mont those words left her mouth, WraithJack’s hand gripping his book trembled. He turned his head, looking up at Belith in the sky, deep in thought.
Belith’s face changed instantly. "Are you crazy, Irene? Signing a master-servant contract with a weak human will lower your power and kill your potential."
He wasn’t actually worried about Irene. He was just afraid that the mysterious, unknown Wraith would attack again.
Irene didn’t answer. She flew straight to Aiden’s side and looked at him seriously.
