Chapter 153: You Don’t Want Your Cousin to Know You Struck It Rich, Do You?

As the three returned and pushed open the living room door, they imdiately saw Wang Chu sitting comfortably on the sofa, eating takeout rice rolls with a tall glass of herbal dicine—completely at ease.

“Wang Gang? Weren’t you held back by the class monitor? She didn’t ask you to stay for dinner today?” Lin Mo asked with a smile.

Sichuan Girl also took the opportunity to chi in, “Exactly. You’re her chatting partner, gaming partner, and even study partner—you’ve already beco her full-ti triple companion, and she still lets you co ho to eat alone? That’s way too much. I’ll ask the class monitor later what she really ans by this!”

Wang Chu protested, “You’re the triple companion! I’m not getting paid, okay?”

Lin Mo:

Sichuan Girl:

So, it turned out he was doing ho service for free—though they weren’t sure if that offer ca with national coverage.

Miss Yuan laughed. “Class monitor? What’s this about? Tell everything, quick! I sll drama.”

Their short exchange instantly ignited Miss Yuan’s inner gossip spirit. She had to get to the bottom of who this “class monitor” really was.

Five minutes later, Lin Mo and Sichuan Girl both ca out holding tall glasses too—after all, one couldn’t stop taking dicine.

As Wang Chu talked, Miss Yuan’s expression shifted from curious to dumbfounded. Eventually, she looked at the other two and asked,

“Has he always been like this? You guys never thought of saying sothing?”

Sichuan Girl replied, “And how exactly do you think we should remind him?”

Lin Mo added, “With that IQ, reminding him wouldn’t make a difference.”

Hearing that, Miss Yuan nodded. “True, you two did the right thing.” Then she turned to Wang Chu, patted him on the shoulder, and sighed, “Little Wang, could you please grow a brain?”

Wang Chu froze. “Wait—shouldn’t that line be for Haiyan?”

Miss Yuan:

At that mont, she finally understood why Lin Mo and Sichuan Girl, despite being Wang Chu’s roommates for years in college, had chosen never to remind him of anything. With that intelligence level, if he managed to find a divorced woman willing to marry him soday, that’d already be divine favor.

Soon after, the takeout Miss Yuan ordered arrived. The four of them sat down to eat together, and Wang Chu bid farewell to his rice rolls.

“Yuan Jie, after lunch let’s drive into the city together. I’ll transfer the money to you then,” Lin Mo said while picking up a piece of stir-fried shrimp.

Miss Yuan nodded—this had been arranged yesterday.

Hearing that, Sichuan Girl grew curious. “Old Mo, you borrowed money from Yuan Jie? If you’re short on cash, I can ask my family for help—it’s fine!”

He’d overheard Miss Yuan ntion sothing about it in the study room earlier. Considering he still owed Lin Mo money himself, he couldn’t just ignore it if Lin Mo was having financial trouble.

“No need. I’m not that desperate for your few bucks. By the way, how’s your account doing lately? Still making a decent inco?” Lin Mo asked.

He hadn’t been keeping track of Sichuan Girl’s progress recently and wondered how things were going.

Sichuan Girl nodded. “It’s fine. My videos are getting decent views. I’m planning to edit the footage we shot earlier this afternoon. Gotta work hard—otherwise, those brain-dead MC companies will try to snatch up.”

“What? They’re still contacting you? I thought you turned them down already?” Lin Mo asked, shocked.

He’d figured that since Sichuan Girl started swearing at them, they’d stop bothering her.

Sichuan Girl sneered. “How could that be? There’s more than one MC company. Just earlier, one of them Dd , said they’re an all-female team—everyone knows makeup—and claid they could help with my creative process.

Help ? I asked a few questions—turns out no one in their team can even drive, and none of them can edit. What would I need them for?

They also bragged about being a ‘professional influencer incubation center.’ Please. If I actually joined, I’m not sure if they’d incubate —or I’d end up feeding them.”

Lin Mo couldn’t help but shake his head. Even though he wasn’t in the self-dia business, he knew how shady it could be. Many of those “influencer incubation” companies were basically scams hiding behind fancy contracts—legal scams if done properly.

And Sichuan Girl was already on the verge of becoming a million-follower creator. In other words, she didn’t need incubation—she was the golden goose that laid golden eggs. Why would she need others to “incubate” her? They’d just pick up the eggs.

Most of those so-called influencer incubation companies weren’t looking to train new talent—they were looking for people like her who didn’t need training at all.

Soon, the four finished their al and relaxed at Sichuan Girl’s place for a bit. Miss Yuan even went into his bedroom to watch him edit, with Wang Chu tagging along to help, while Lin Mo texted Liu Rushuang to ask if she was at the office since he’d be heading over soon.

Liu Rushuang’s reply was simple—just a finger-curling emoji.

At 2:30 p.m., Miss Yuan and Lin Mo drove to the company.

“Hey, little brother—you’re here!”

The mont he stepped through the door, Lin Mo was stunned for two seconds.

“You look a lot better these days. Feeling better?” Lin Mo asked as he sat down.

anwhile, Miss Yuan had already sprawled unceremoniously across the sofa, shoes kicked off.

“As long as it doesn’t hurt, it’s fine. You know my condition—it’s not going to fully recover anyti soon. Why? You want to make a noble sacrifice and act as my dicinal guide?” Liu Rushuang massaged her aching temples and smiled.

Although she looked livelier today, and her tone was still light, there was a heaviness behind her words—a trace of fatigue and unspoken worry.

Lin Mo quickly waved his hands. “I’ll pass. I’m not trying to turn into herbal residue. My teacher’s got on a regin to strengthen my foundation lately.”

Miss Yuan perked up. “Oh, you still don’t know? Our Mo here has a Chinese dicine teacher! Yesterday, he even went to treat my grandpa. I heard from his teacher that his massage technique is professional level! Considering how many days he massaged you, shouldn’t you pay him for his labor?” she said excitedly.

She naturally wanted to share this fresh gossip with a mutual acquaintance—especially with Liu Rushuang. Those two had been getting closer lately, and Miss Yuan felt the need to assert her seniority.

“Of course I know he’s professional. Doctor Li Chengyang from Jiangning dical University is his teacher. Otherwise, why would I ever let him massage ? Right, Xiao Mo?” Liu Rushuang winked at him playfully.

Hearing that, Yuan ng gave Lin Mo a scrutinizing look. “So I was the last to find out?”

“You never asked! Ahem, anyway, the main reason I ca today was to repay the money. Let’s have dinner tonight—it’s my treat to thank you both for helping out.” Lin Mo quickly changed the subject.

Liu Rushuang paused. “What kind of business did you do that wrapped up so quickly? Sis isn’t in a hurry. If you’re still making money, keep using the funds!”

Money wasn’t sothing she lacked. Even for the company, two million wouldn’t make much difference. What she was curious about was what business Lin Mo was actually doing.

“Just a short-term deal—not even close to your big corporate level, Sister Rushuang. Next ti I need funds, I’ll ask again. Borrowing and repaying keeps it easy to borrow again, right?” Lin Mo smiled bitterly.

It wasn’t that he didn’t want to make more—he simply didn’t have enough ti. If he kept the money tied up any longer, he might lose it instead of making a profit.

Seeing how firm he was, Liu Rushuang didn’t press him further—though she did feel it was a sha. If Lin Mo had lost money, she might’ve even had an excuse to benefit from it.

“So that ans you made a profit this ti, huh? Tell —how much? Make your sister jealous a bit,” Liu Rushuang teased.

Yuan ng scoffed. “Just a bit of pocket change. He’s being all secretive. I asked too—he wouldn’t tell . Like I’d care about his few bucks.”

Lin Mo:

He had literally said that line to Sichuan Girl earlier—and now it had co back like a boorang.

Liu Rushuang’s curiosity grew. Resting her chin on her hand, she asked in a soft, teasing tone, “Co on, little brother, tell ~ How much did you make?”

Lin Mo said, “Not much.”

“How much is ‘not much’?” she pressed.

“Just a little,” he replied vaguely.

Seeing how evasive he was, Liu Rushuang grew even more intrigued. “Just a little? You don’t look like you’re being honest. I’d say you’ve struck it rich.”

As she spoke, she stood up, walked over to him, and added, “Relax, sis is just asking. I won’t tell your cousin. You don’t want her to find out you struck it rich, do you?”

Lin Mo:

“Less than two hundred,” he muttered.

Liu Rushuang: “Thousand?”

Lin Mo nodded. The next second—

“Damn it! You’re treating us to dinner!!”

Lin Mo: ???
