Chapter 191: Invitation

“Hahaha, this kid looks good. Even little ones like him—our little Qianqian already knows how to appreciate handso guys. She’s got good taste!” Mrs. Jiang teased, smiling at the baby girl.

Qianqian was the little one’s nickna. In the living room, the four adults were all laughing heartily at the little girl’s antics.

Children, as long as they weren’t those unruly kinds, were always adorable—especially the good-looking ones.

Even though many young people nowadays didn’t want to get married or have kids, they were still obsessed with cute babies online. The “cloud parenting” trend was booming.

So new parents even beca millionaire influencers just by posting about their children, achieving financial freedom.

Many adults never imagined that after studying hard for more than ten years and working for many more, they would end up being “carried to success” by their own kids.

You could only say that so people were truly blessed—so babies started earning their own formula money just a month after birth.

Yuan ng’s sister-in-law held her daughter in her arms, smiling as she tapped the little girl’s chubby cheek to keep her from clinging to the handso young man again.

“Xiao Lin, didn’t I tell you last ti to co by when you had so free ti? You’ve forgotten again, haven’t you?” Mrs. Jiang turned to Lin Mo with a smile.

It was obvious she genuinely liked this young man. Especially now, every ti she looked in the mirror, she couldn’t help but feel delighted.

Whenever she went out to play cards, all those rich ladies envied her. Even Liu Rushuang’s mother, Mrs. Cheng, didn’t look as young as she did anymore.

Having been overshadowed in looks her whole life, she finally made a coback in her later years—it truly felt great. And all of this was thanks to the young man in front of her.

Two hundred thousand yuan might be nothing to her family, but the results were undeniably impressive.

Although her daughter had lent her car to him, she hadn’t transferred the ownership, and she’d recently taken it back herself. So Mrs. Jiang had been wanting to properly thank Lin Mo and sincerely hoped he’d co visit their ho.

“Auntie, I’ve just been really busy lately. You see, my uncle said he’d ask around for , and a few days later, people from the city ca over. Plus, my teacher wants to study—he even checked my progress yesterday. I can’t slack off!” Lin Mo explained with a smile.

It was polite talk—half true, half excuse. He was busy, yes, but not so busy that he couldn’t find ti for a visit. He just didn’t think it was appropriate.

He got along well with Miss Yuan, but he wasn’t that familiar with Mrs. Jiang. She was an elder, after all. Dropping by might be awkward, especially if she was only being polite.

Mrs. Jiang chuckled. A sharp woman like her certainly understood what Lin Mo was thinking; she just chose not to point it out.

“You’re too polite. I feel quite at ease with Yuanyuan playing with you. Anyway, the place we’re going isn’t far from that horse ranch we visited last ti. Why don’t we all go together and grab a al?” Mrs. Jiang suggested.

Hearing that, Lin Mo quickly stood up. “No, Auntie, I really have sothing to take care of later. I should get going. Next ti, I promise I’ll visit you properly!”

As he spoke, he prepared to leave. No way was he joining what was clearly a family dinner—he’d just be an outsider intruding.

Besides, he really did have sothing to do in the city—he planned to see Rushuang Empress. She’d left in a hurry that morning, and he hadn’t had ti to tell her about the Longquan Seal Paste and Tongyan Ink. It would be hard to sell those on his own; he needed her help.

She’d been bold enough to act cocky with him earlier—surely helping him with this small favor wouldn’t be a problem. If he could sell them quickly, he might even surprise his family when he went ho for the National Day holiday.

“Oh, stop it. What business could you possibly have? Always trying to fool Auntie. Yuanyuan’s grandpa was just talking about you a few days ago, saying that Dr. Pan’s massage wasn’t as comfortable as yours.”

“Now that we’ve finally run into you, listen to Auntie and stay for a al. Xiaoyan, call your father-in-law and ask if Dr. Li has ti—tell him his student will be coming over too.”

“Okay, Aunt,” Yuan ng’s sister-in-law said with a smile.

Yuan ng’s sister-in-law was a clever woman. She hadn’t said much earlier, but she could tell that her aunt’s family had an unusual connection with this young man.

Although she had only married into the family a few years ago, she understood the family’s relationships well. Since her husband’s aunt was married well, and she valued this young man, she naturally had no objections.

“Auntie, I—” Lin Mo was speechless. He might be outgoing with people he knew, but around strangers, especially elders, he completely froze up.

And this was a family dinner—he’d feel uncomfortable the whole ti. If it weren’t necessary, he really didn’t want to get involved.

“Co now, it’s just a al, don’t be nervous. Your teacher will be there too. Be confident, young man,” Mrs. Jiang said cheerfully, patting him on the shoulder and finalizing the plan.

Lin Mo saw there was no way out. If he refused, it would seem like he was deliberately avoiding them. Fortunately, Mrs. Jiang was thoughtful enough to invite his teacher too.

Otherwise, he would’ve been the only outsider there—far too awkward. But with Professor Li present, it would feel more like a consultation than a private dinner.

“Alright then,” Lin Mo said with a forced smile.

“That’s more like it. No need to be so formal,” Mrs. Jiang nodded with satisfaction.

To her, even setting aside Lin Mo’s background and the fact that he was Dr. Li’s student, the fact that his massage techniques eased her father’s pain was reason enough to treat him kindly.

After all, what child didn’t wish for their parents to live comfortably in their old age—free from illness, or at least free from pain?

While Lin Mo smiled helplessly, Miss Yuan walked over and patted him on the shoulder. “Good brother, you really step up when Sister Yuan needs you. From now on, I won’t call you Xiao Black Dog anymore.

But if we get scolded later, you’ve got to take the heat for !”

Mrs. Jiang shot her daughter a sharp glare. How did she end up with two unreliable ones?

One was already thirty and still couldn’t figure out her love life, and the other understood everything yet refused to date—worse, she kept stirring up trouble.

Yuan ng’s sister-in-law covered her mouth to stifle a laugh. Clearly, she found the pair amusing. She just wasn’t sure if the young man was actually Yuanyuan’s boyfriend.

As for Lin Mo, he simply smacked Miss Yuan’s hand away. “If I could, I’d rather not have co today. I told you before—if this ends in trouble, just don’t drag your teacher into it.

You really do love setting up your own people, huh?”

Miss Yuan said, “Hey, it’s not my fault! Wang Chu and Sichuan Girl just ran off too fast!”

Lin Mo: .
