"How... how did he get what he wanted?" she whispered to herself, her voice trembling. "He always gets what he wants..."

For a long while, she sat there, unable to move, unable to think clearly, the reality of Laura’s choice sinking deeper into her soul.

Ross had won again, and this ti, the victory felt like a knife twisting straight into her chest.

The days slipped by faster than Lois realized, and before she knew it, a couple of months had passed.

Then ca the announcent—her sister Laura was getting married.

Normally, such news would have stayed within the family circle, sothing for relatives and close friends to celebrate quietly.

But this wasn’t just any marriage.

Laura was marrying Ross Oakley, the most famous man on the planet.

The mont the news broke, it spread like wildfire.

The dia exploded with coverage, and suddenly, what should have been a private family matter beca an international spectacle.

"Oh my god... I couldn’t even find a proper place to park my car. Paparazzi everywhere!" one of Lois’s aunts exclaid as she pushed through the door, cheeks flushed from irritation.

She tossed her handbag onto the couch and shook her head dramatically.

"Why did your daughter have to marry Ross Oakley, of all people, sister? The whole world is watching this family now. I nearly got blinded by cara flashes just trying to get up the driveway."

Lois’s mother sighed, half-exasperated but with a small proud smile tugging at her lips. "You say it as if it’s a bad thing. Our family is about to be connected to Ross Oakley. Do you realize what that ans?"

The aunt scoffed. "It ans chaos. Journalists at every corner, reporters digging into our pasts, and people on the internet making up stories about us. You think they’ll leave alone? Just this morning, my neighbor asked if I could introduce her to Ross when he cos here. I told her—what do you think I am, his secretary?"

Laughter bubbled up around the living room, though Lois remained quiet, perched at the edge of the armchair.

The house was alive with chatter, relatives moving in and out of the kitchen with trays of tea, cookies, and cakes.

Everyone had gathered for the wedding planning, and the air carried both excitent and tension.

So were already discussing flower arrangents, others the guest list, while a group of cousins huddled in the corner, whispering about how many celebrities might attend the wedding.

Still, beneath all the noise, Lois couldn’t shake the heaviness pressing on her chest.

To the world, this was a fairy tale in the making.

To her, it felt more like her sister was being swallowed whole by Ross’s dazzling orbit.

The chatter quieted when the sound of a car pulling into the driveway reached their ears.

For a mont, anticipation hung thick in the air. Everyone knew who it was.

The front door opened, and just like that, the atmosphere shifted completely.

Ross and Laura stepped inside hand in hand.

It was almost blinding—the way Laura seed to glow beside him.

Happiness radiated from her in every smile, every glance she shared with Ross.

She wore a simple dress, her hair flowing over her shoulders, but she looked more radiant than Lois had ever seen her.

And Ross—well, Ross carried himself with the sa effortless charm that had captured the world.

His sharp suit contrasted with his relaxed posture, and the smile on his face seed capable of lting even the iciest of hearts.

"There they are!" one cousin squealed, rushing forward with a phone in hand, snapping pictures before anyone could stop her.

"Ross! Ross Oakley, in our living room. I can’t believe it," another aunt whispered loudly, fanning herself with her hand.

Ross chuckled warmly, lifting his free hand in greeting. "Good afternoon, everyone. I hope we didn’t keep you waiting too long." His voice carried that magnetic quality that made people instantly lean in, as though every word he spoke was ant for them personally.

"No, no, not at all!" Laura’s mother said quickly, bustling toward them with a tray of tea as if she were serving royalty.

"We’re just so happy you could both make it. Please, co sit."

Laura squeezed Ross’s hand and grinned, her eyes bright as she looked around at her family. "It feels so good to be ho. I’ve missed this."

Lois’s stomach twisted. Ho. Family. But didn’t it feel like Ross was already replacing them as Laura’s world?

The relatives surged forward, so hugging Laura tightly, others greeting Ross with almost embarrassing enthusiasm.

He handled it all with ease, laughing lightly, thanking each person as though he had known them for years.

Even the aunt who had been complaining earlier found herself smiling like a starstruck teenager when Ross clasped her hands and said, "Thank you for welcoming into your family. I’ll take good care of Laura, I promise you that."

Lois bit her lip, watching the scene unfold.

To everyone else, Ross was flawless—charming, respectful, devoted.

But Lois couldn’t shake her unease.

It was too perfect, too smooth, as though every gesture was carefully designed to win hearts.

And judging by the dreamy looks on her relatives’ faces, it was working.

Laura leaned her head against Ross’s shoulder, her expression dreamy, almost worshipful.

"See? I told you they’d love you," she whispered to him, though Lois caught the words.

Ross smiled down at her, brushing a strand of hair from her face with a tenderness that made the room collectively sigh.

"As long as I have you by my side, Laura, I’ll be loved anywhere."

The room erupted in cheers and playful teasing. Soone shouted, "Oh, you two are already acting like newlyweds!"

Lois forced a small smile, but her heart sank deeper.

To the family, to the world, Ross Oakley was a dream co true.

But to her—he was a storm she feared Laura wouldn’t survive.

The talks began soon after, with introductions and endless chatter about wedding arrangents.
