Chapter 587: Zerg Servants
The results were immediate.
As soon as the specks of light left the city fragment’s main building and entered the outside world, the changes began to spread.
It didn’t take long before their effects became apparent.
Only a couple of minutes later, just when Liora and Elaouthr had stepped out of the Heavenly Armor Pavilion with their harvest in hand, they received a barrage of messages.
They were all sent from the other demons.
At first, Liora was briefly surprised, wondering whether something had gone wrong.
But as she activated one of Liothar’s secret munication methods and accepted the messages, she came to understand the reason behind the ruckus.
“Liothar! Elaouthr! We’ve discovered a giant palace!”
“Several entrances have appeared all over the city, leading directly to it. We suspect that a great inheritance has appeared!”
“e quickly! Only by banding together and helping each other can we obtain the greatest harvest!”, a hoarse voice lingered throughout the entrance of the Heavenly Armor Pavilion.
As Liora listened, she couldn’t help but show a strange expression.
However, when she looked toward Elaouthr, and he glanced back at her, it became obvious that they had both reached the same conclusion.
“Brother Liothar, you’ve already seen what was hidden within the courtyard and this pavilion.”
“If this is true and an inheritance has appeared, then its value will truly be immeasurable. We can’t miss out on it.”
Elaouthr paused briefly.
“Moreover, with your current strength, we have little to fear. Even if we obtain something extraordinary, your Venerable-level strength should be enough to protect it.”
Not much time had passed since the two entered the pavilion.
Yet during that short period, their relationship had subtly changed.
Elaouthr seemed to have gone from an equal panion to a subordinate.
If it were not for the occasion, Liora strongly doubted that he would have respectfully called himself her “little brother.”
She naturally understood why that was.
It wasn’t because he had suddenly bee captivated by her charisma or personality, but because he wished to benefit from her strength.
Using her power, he had a chance to obtain many rewards.
To this, Liora remained calm.
She didn’t find such a decision strange, especially from someone like Elaouthr, who presumably had shared a good relationship with the demon she had replaced.
Faced with his words, she simply nodded.
“Let’s go. If there really is an inheritance, every second counts.”
“If we waste any more time, the others might clean up that palace.”
Before the words had even finished leaving her mouth, Liora’s figure blurred.
Her massive frame disappeared, as though it had never been there.
A trace of surprise flashed through Elaouthr’s eyes, though he quickly suppressed it and hurried after her.
—
Finding the so-called entrances to the palace proved easy for Liora and her demon panion.
There were simply too many of them.
Moreover, each one shone brilliantly, sending a pillar of bright light through the sky as if afraid that people would miss them.
bined with the directions contained within the messages they had received, it only took Liora a few minutes to arrive before one.
It was shaped like a whirlpool. The space revolved as if it were water.
Unlike what she had originally expected, the teleportation wasn’t the result of a formation or anything similar.
Instead, after inspecting it carefully, Liora realized it resembled an ability.
Ordinarily, that wouldn’t have surprised her.
However, she couldn’t detect the slightest trace of Cosmic Energy—or any other known energy—within it.
It seemed as though the vortex existed independently from the world around it.
Her eyebrows rose slightly.
A guess formed in her mind, though she kept it to herself.
After motioning for Elaouthr to follow, she no longer hesitated and stepped into the entrance.
Immediately, an overwhelming devouring force descended upon her.
Liora felt herself being squeezed. The space itself folded around her, while waves of pressure washed over her body.
Had her physique been any weaker, the pressure alone would have torn her apart.
Fortunately, physical strength was the one thing Liora lacked least. In a sense, she was no longer a living being, but a moving Origin Sea.
Let alone being injured, she didn’t even suffer a single scratch as a result of these powers.
Soon, her vision darkened.
It was only several seconds later that light returned once more.
The moment she looked around, Liora realized she had been transported elsewhere.
Although the surrounding buildings remained similar in appearance and overall structure, it was immediately obvious that this was a different part of the city.
The reason was relatively clear.
It was not only because the atmosphere itself was different, but because of what had just entered her sight.
A giant palace.
Stretching endlessly into the sky like the tower before it, it appeared even grander than the Heavenly Armor Pavilion.
Its entire surface shimmered with the iridescence of thousands of colors, while colossal pillars supported its massive frame, as though it would collapse without them.
Liora recognized it.
Not because she had seen it before, but because it perfectly matched the description contained within the messages.
Yet just as she was about to approach and investigate this so-called inheritance, a distant sound suddenly made her stop.
At first, the sound was faint, almost impossible to hear.
Within moments, however, it echoed throughout the entire plaza.
Turning toward its source, Liora noticed several black dots racing across the distance.
One led the way, while over a dozen chased after it.
Initially, they were too far away to distinguish.
But as they rapidly closed the distance, Liora gradually made out their appearance.
It was a bunch of figures.
The one at the front was familiar, as it was one of the King demons she had entered the city fragment with.
The same was true for those behind him.
She was not personally familiar with them, but instead recognized their race.
Black carapaces. Long antennae extending from their heads.
Razor-sharp claws seemingly created to tear through flesh. Massive bodies that exuded overwhelming oppression.
Zerg—their name instantly surfaced.
More precisely, Zerg Servants.
