"C-Cousin…"
For the first time since awakening, fear appeared in her eyes.
"I'm scared."
Michael turned toward her. Seeing the fear on Lily's face, he couldn't help but feel a plicated emotion rise within him.
Just moments ago he had been genuinely happy that his cousin had awakened. She was even a rare Dual Awakener, with two excellent classes.
He had already started thinking about her future and how much stronger she could bee.
Now all those thoughts felt far away.
The panel before him remained unchanged.

Origin Battlefield. The name alone sounded dangerous. What was worse was that the Origin Will wasn't giving awakeners a choice.
They had one day, then they would be dragged inside.
Michael wasn't afraid for himself. If it truly came down to it, he was confident in his ability to survive.
But Lily?
She had awakened less than an hour ago. She didn't even fully understand her classes yet. Yet now the Origin Will was telling her she would be thrown into a battlefield alongside awakeners from across the universe.
The situation was absurd.
For perhaps the first time since his awakening, Michael felt a trace of anger toward the Origin Will.
No, this was actually the second or third time. The Origin Will had truly put him through a lot already.
Also everyone was getting equally messed up. He didn't have the right to cry out unfair. The timing was simply too ridiculous.
Michael closed his eyes briefly. When he opened them again, his expression had returned to normal.
"Calm down." His voice was steady.
Lily immediately looked toward him.
Michael reached forward and grabbed her wrist.
"Don't panic."
The next moment, space distorted and the two disappeared. A moment later they reappeared inside Michael's house, specifically the living room.
Michael released Lily's hand and sat down on the sofa. Lily immediately sat beside him. Neither spoke for several seconds. The atmosphere was unusually heavy.
Michael stared at the panel floating before him as his mind rapidly processed every piece of information available.
Lily nervously looked at him.
"Will we die?"
Michael didn't answer immediately. After a long moment, he finally spoke.
"Yes. People will definitely die. But not you. If awakeners from the entire universe are being gathered into a place called a battlefield, then people are going to die."
His voice remained steady as he rubbed his chin, starting to wonder if he had been too overprotective. Now that he had finally calmed down, he began to realize that his little cousin was just like him.
Perhaps she might not be able to dominate her peers, but if it came down to it, and she made no major mistakes, surviving shouldn't be an issue.
"Lily, tell me your stats after awakening."

Upon hearing his cousin's stats, Michael couldn't help but let out a series of tsks. He could still remember his own stats when he first awakened.
His highest stat back then hadn't even matched his cousin's lowest stat now, and that was without accounting for the fact that, pared to him at the time, she was already a High Human.
With the same numbers, that made her far stronger than an ordinary human would be.
Then there was her skill set. Putting aside the abilities she'd gained after awakening, the ones she already had from her Knight training were all at an impressive level.
Not only did this mark her as exceptionally skilled, but as an awakener, she would only grow more formidable from here.
"Hmmm. Now that I think of it, Lily is quite strong. With the right preparation she could probably handle an early-stage Rank 1 monster easily." Michael muttered to himself with a smile as he brought out a crystal from his storage space.
"Here, take it." Michael turned to Lily and handed her the crystal.
"What's this?" she asked, curious, as she subconsciously used {Detect} on it.
Though she was only a new awakener, this innate skill had e to her naturally, and she had already used it a few times since awakening.
The first person she had used it on had been her cousin, but the information she'd gotten back had only confused her.

She had wondered what that meant, but unfortunately never gotten the chance to ask.

Lily was shocked by the information {Detect} gave her. Though there were quite a few things she didn't understand, she understood the part about stats.
What a precious thing.
"Try to focus your mind on it and absorb it," she immediately heard her cousin's voice beside her.
"Cousin, isn't this thing precious?"
Looking at how delicately Lily held the crystal he'd given her, Michael couldn't help but wear an odd expression.
"You're not wrong in saying they're precious. They really are, but…"
As he spoke, Michael spread out his hand, and several more crystals appeared from the void and fell to the floor.
