"Anyways, putting that aside, what are you doing here?"
The question triggered the avoidance side of Michael.
Just the thought of saying that the reason he appeared here was because he was being chased by two Rank Four beings made him feel a chill down his spine.
When he rembered Rynne's words that Rank Four beings existed here, it only made him even more unsettled.
Aside from the fact that this was where he realised his law, hell in general gave Michael an unpleasant feeling.
However, after a second of contemplation, Michael decided to answer with a bit of truth.
"It's a bit complicated to explain, but let's just say the void brought here," he said.
"That doesn't quite explain anything..."
"I tried my best."
Rynne's mouth was left stunned by the absolute lack of effort on Michael's part.
In the end, she just sighed as she wondered why this person was even above her in rank, and judging from the little he had shown, he seed to have grown stronger again.
How was he so strong and getting so strong so fast?
Rynne couldn't help but ask about a suspicion that had been on her mind since seeing him.
"Have you..... ascended?"
"No."
Though surprised at the question and wondering why the won around him suddenly seed so interested in his rank status, Michael answered truthfully. However, compared to the slightly relieved look on Arianna's face, Rynne had a much more complex expression.
He wondered why that was the case and was about to ask if everything was fine when Rynne spoke again.
"Anyway, so what are we going to do now?"
In the end, Rynne found that though for the first ti in her life soone made her feel suffocated, she was not actually put down by
it.
The path to power was long, and based on her class advantage, as long as she had the right materials, she would be the strongest for a long ti eventually and even till the end. In this universe, more strength usually ant more opportunities to gain even greater strength compared to weaker counterparts.
In any case, it was not like she was not getting stronger herself. At the mont, she had a fully realized law seed, and the only thing stopping her from breaking through into Rank Three was a class rank up mission, which was also the reason why she was currently in this
ruin.
She needed a material here that would matter a lot to her now and for a very long ti to co.
As for why she needed to co to Hell for sothing like this, it was quite simple.
Hell was a unique place.
Though it was separated from the material realm and existed outside the normal universe, it had likely existed for as long as the universe itself.
During that imasurable span, countless powerful beings had entered Hell. So ca seeking strength. Others ca to conquer. Many never left.
Things had been built here. Fortresses, academies, laboratories, altars, cities, and so on. And just as many had been destroyed, reduced to ruins.
Hell was not just the ho of demons.
It was a graveyard of ambition.
And because of that, it was also a treasure trove.
Every civilization with sufficient strength coveted access to Hell, not only for its natural resources, but for what had been left behind.
If one was not told beforehand or lacked any knowledge of ruins in Hell, it was only until they reached the lower floors that ruins began to appear more commonly. This was unlike the higher floors, which were easily accessible to many civilizations, aning everything of value there had been scrapped ages ago.
Michael knew a bit about ruins existing in Hell, but since this was his first ti seeing one, he was quite taken aback.
And it also proved sothing to him.
He was probably far deeper into Hell now. This ant two things.
His life was probably in more danger, but on the bright side, no one
was kidnapping him again.
It was a bright side, right?
Michael stayed silent for a mont, his gaze lingering on the broken structures ahead.
After so thought, he spoke.
"I'll leave now," Michael said calmly.
Rynne turned to him, clearly surprised.
"This is a ruin," Michael continued. "People only co to places like this for one reason. Treasures. If I follow you inside and what you want happens to be sothing we both need..."
He did not finish the sentence.
He did not need to.
Rynne understood imdiately.
For a brief mont, she studied him in silence. Her eyes flicked back to the ruin, then to Michael again. There was caution there, but also calculation. After a few seconds, she sighed softly.
"It doesn't matter," she said.
Michael raised an eyebrow slightly.
"As long as you swear you won't fight for the one thing I ca here for," Rynne continued, "you can have first pick of whatever we
find after that."
Michael considered the offer.
It was appealing. Very appealing.
But if he was being honest with himself, the ruin was not his imdiate concern. Not even close. What mattered far more was how
to leave this unknown floor alive.
He did not respond right away, and Rynne noticed.
She misread his hesitation.
"You don't need to worry too much," she said, her tone steady.
Michael looked at her.
"I was planning to do this myself," Rynne added. "You showing up is
just extra insurance. It makes things much safer. Once I get what I
need, I'll take us back."
Michael's head tilted slightly.
"Take us back?" he repeated.
"Yes," Rynne said, confused by his reaction. "I'll teleport us to the first
floor. From there, we can return to Aurora."
Michael froze.
"...Teleport?" he asked.
Rynne blinked. "Yes?"
"Teleport," Michael repeated quietly.
Rynne stared at him for a second, then frowned.
"How else do you think I ended up on floor fifty-six after only four
days in Hell?"
