After his tense discussion with Jezabel, Kaiser headed toward his mansion, his thoughts still muddled by the exchange that had brought back unpleasant mories. Once inside, he climbed the stairs leading to his bedroom with the sole intention of finally relaxing, ignoring the servants who greeted him.
In his bedroom, he undressed quickly and entered the bathroom where the black marble reflected the dim light. He turned on the faucets and watched the hot water slowly fill the bathtub. Swirls of steam began to fog up the room. Barely had he imrsed his tired body in the scalding water than he leaned back against the edge.
"Ahhhh... Fuck... That feels good..." He let out a deep sigh of satisfaction. It had been a long ti since he had allowed himself such a mont of respite, and he intended to enjoy it fully, far from intrigues and responsibilities.
Half an hour passed in soothing silence, disturbed only by a few drops of water falling from the faucet. Kaiser finally got out of the bathtub, grabbed a towel that he quickly passed over his torso before carelessly dropping it on the floor.
His still-wet hair dripped onto his shoulders as he simply slipped on black pants. He crossed the hallway to the dining room to snack on so dried fruits and a piece of cheese he found in the pantry. After this brief snack, he returned to his bedroom and collapsed onto the bed with a grunt of satisfaction.
Eyes closed, he finally savored the well-deserved rest, his muscles gradually relaxing against the cool sheets when suddenly, knocks sounded at his door.
*Knock. Knock. Knock.*
"Mr. Kaiser, please forgive this interruption," said the butler’s composed voice through the door.
"What the hell is it now?" Kaiser replied in a sullen tone, sighing loudly as he cracked one eye open.
"One of the Academy professors is asking to see you," the butler replied. "It’s a woman, she insists on eting you."
Kaiser closed his eyes for a mont, clenching his jaw. He swore between his teeth: "Fuck!" For once he could catch a break, soone ca to bother him. He sat up, ran a hand through his still-damp hair, then stood up with a weary movent.
"Let’s go," he said, grabbing a shirt he didn’t even bother to put on.
The butler was waiting in the hallway. Kaiser followed him, crossing the dimly lit corridors of the mansion. They finally arrived at the waiting room, an elegant space with walls adorned with ancient paintings.
Seated gracefully in one of the velvet armchairs, Seraphina waited. She wore a white dress with patterns that perfectly hugged her generous curves, her hair falling in cascades over her shoulders with a strand hanging in front. When she turned her head and spotted Kaiser, her face grew colder.
"You can go now. Thank you," Kaiser said, turning to the butler and nodding.
"Very well, sir," the latter replied, bowing before turning on his heel and closing the door behind him.
Silence fell back over the room. Kaiser put his hands in his pockets, bare-chested, observing Seraphina with an amused expression.
"I didn’t expect you to co see in my private quarters," he said lightly.
Seraphina frowned even more.
"Is that all you have to say?" she retorted, holding his gaze.
Kaiser didn’t answer imdiately. Instead, he displayed a crooked smile, his eyes briefly scanning Seraphina’s slender figure before returning to her face.
She then stood up, adjusting her dress with a graceful gesture, and approached him until she was only a few steps away.
"It’s been a while since you ca to class, Kaiser. I think it’s my duty as a professor to know what’s happening with you," she declared in a displeased tone, but her eyes betrayed a more personal concern.
"It’s not my fault if I’m always busy," Kaiser replied, running a hand through his wet hair with a falsely sorry look. "The trips with the rift breach... you know how it is."
"You could have still co to see to let know about your absence," Seraphina insisted, this ti with a sterner tone.
Kaiser looked at her with genuine surprise, then a wider smile stretched his lips. He took a step forward until he was pressed against her, so close he could sll her perfu.
"Are you angry because of my absence? Or sothing else?" he murmured, his eyes locked on hers.
"Don’t be ridiculous," she replied quickly, denying Kaiser’s words and turning her head. She crossed her arms under her chest, as if to shield herself from this sudden proximity.
"With my back-and-forth trips to the Tenebris continent, it was simply impossible for to attend class. Things turned out more complicated than expected..." Kaiser continued much more seriously, stepping back very slightly and scratching the back of his head.
While he detailed the reasons for his absence, Seraphina cast furtive glances at his bare torso, at the drops of water still beading on his skin, following the lines of his muscles with her eyes. She thought her observations went unnoticed, but a small mocking smile on Kaiser’s lips told her otherwise.
"Hmm," he said knowingly. "It looks like a certain person is much more busy staring at than listening to my explanations."
"I-it’s not what you think!" Seraphina stamred, jumping as if caught red-handed. Her cheeks flushed slightly.
"You have to be honest with yourself, you know," Kaiser said, raising a hand to gently caress Seraphina’s cheek. Her skin was warm under his fingers. He delicately turned her face so their eyes t again.
He then leaned slowly toward her, his lips brushing hers while sliding his hand along her body, grazing her waist. But Seraphina placed her hands on his torso to push him away, though her gesture lacked conviction.
"I know the real reason for your visit," Kaiser murmured against her ear, his voice barely louder than a breath. "Let yourself go, Seraphina."
He kissed her with more insistence, his hand gradually descending to her ass, which he began to knead gently through the silky fabric of her dress. Seraphina hesitated, torn between reason and the desire rising within her. She had waited so long for this mont, wanting to continue what they had started.
It was then that the door burst open with a dull thud.
Her cold eyes fixed on the scene while the butler, sweating, tried to hold her back...
"D-Dyana!!"
