Chapter 112: Just a try..
Axel could easily understand why that was the case; his stats were double compared to a normal Seeker, and he also had the demon bloodline in him, which made his innate constitution far stronger than a human, even with the low purity of his demon bloodline.
He could easily deduce how physically impossible it is for a normal human to endure that level of pressure. The one nad Taser was a bit more proficient in runes compared to Lumina, according to what he could surmise.
Lumina herself was more talented on the Arcane side of the magic, her being an Arcane Runecaster. She was truly damn lucky if you think about it, on one hand her best friend the Valkyrie was the most talented Arcanist whom she receives great help from without a doubt, on the other hand there was Axel who also helps her whenever she needs it, and Axel himself gets along with her surprisingly well excluding Heinz.
All the runecasters behaved quite well with Axel as they often discussed with him about runic sorcery in detail. Taser behaved with him in the most friendly manner. The guy always tried to strike up a conversation with him whenever he was free in the classes. Axel had to admit Taser had a pretty good mind when it ca to runic sorcery. It seems he also dabbled in it in his trial quite a bit, maybe.
But there was one thing that irked him about the guy; his friendly and relaxed attitude towards Axel seed unnatural in a way. It wasn’t obvious, actually, to anyone, but rather his instincts found it, as if the guy was putting up a front with him to get along. So, Axel never got too close to him. Behaving politely while also keeping a good distance.
Lumina, being perceptive, noticed the details, and once she asked him about it, he was truthful with her, as he said that his instincts told him the guy was putting up a front to get along. Axel even advised Lumina not to get too close to the guy.
To which she responded with a jab of her own, “Oh, my dear Axel, the only guy I am close to is you, so if soone does sothing to , you would be the first suspect on Sophia and my brother’s list.”
He scowled at that response of hers and shot a glare. But the 5th princess only let out the most charming laughter. A sudden idea popped into his head as he stepped closer. As she was laughing, he gazed deep into her golden eyes, and her laughter stopped. She also looked deep into his blue eyes and how his slightly long blue hair waved in the wind breeze.
Coupled with his handso face and locked gaze right at her. Her eyes widened as she lost herself for a mont in those ocean blue eyes and subtle smile on his face. She was utterly captivated in that mont. ‘Oh, this went better than I expected,’ thought Axel internally. he tilted his head a bit and finally broke the eye contact.
Which broke Lumina out of her trance, and she realized what happened, her face turned beet red in embarrassnt, and anger, she gritted and said to him, “HEY, you…You, you cannot do that.”
Axel smiled charmingly, placing his hand on his chin, “Oh, and you can?”
Her face turned even redder seeing that charming smile and hearing his statent. She stomped her foot on the ground angrily and stord off while muttering so low curses under her breath. She looked cuter being angry, and Axel let out a suppressed laugh.
She does the sa thing to him all the ti, so what’s the harm when he was the one to do it? He never presented himself as the handso guy he is, but when he does use it, it’s no problem for him to make a girl blush.
With a sigh, he went back to his daily routine of morizing the runes, It took him in total 10 days to morize all 24 of the basic runes, which is the first level of the runic language. These 10 days were solely focused on that part of the runic studies, with no other disruption.
His mind also beca firr with each rune he morized, he expected his mind stats to advance a but that surprisingly did not happen, much to his disappointnt. Now that part of the task was out of the way, he could start forging and engraving.
Putting the chunks of solid tal in a container (which is called a crucible), he put various types of tal in there in different quantities to make a compound mixture that would be the most suitable material for the sword. When all the solid tals turned liquid, he gave it a good mix with a heat-resistant handle.
When it was in a sufficiently good heat and everything was mixed perfectly, holding the crucible with another tool carefully, he poured the contents of it into the sword-shaped casting mold. When that was done, he picked up a small hamr. He slowly tinkered on the outer side of it. He was far from proficient on that particular task, but it was necessary nonetheless.
In the sa process that Gareth showed him, he put the whole thing into a cooler to cool it down. He had to let it cool for an hour or so; in that ti, he practiced writing so of the runes he morized on specialized papers made of Archon tier 1 materials. Runes cannot be written on normal materials after all.
Just to try it out, he picked up the rune engraving pen, put his hand in it, he tried to engrave one full rune, but as expected he couldn’t do it, his mind and body froze, and the amount of the rune he engraved also vanished from the material he was writing upon. Not only that, there was also a ntal backlash.
He tried it a few more tis, but again he was unable to, and the ntal backlash stacked on top of each other, and his situation beca worse. He had to get out of the Sanctum and drink another potion, only then mind pain eased a bit, and then ca back again. It seems that was a dead end, he thought that he might be able to do it, engrave the full rune, considering his title as the absolute runecaster.
