Chapter 124: Second Try
There were many things to consider when considering the whole incident, like how Lucien’s golden dragon flas could burn away the corruption of the void. No, maybe it wasn’t the pure golden fla; sothing of a special spell or technique was mixed into it as well. Lucien probably learned it from the sa person who taught him the external sense.
But there was one thing, one biggest thing which he had to acknowledge no matter what, which is that Lucien indeed risked his very life to rescue him, yes he had a tool that could fight off against the void, he was probably pretty confident considering his character that he would be able to save himself from whatever predicant he was in, that was likely Lucien’s thought process before he jumped in. But the situation turned out far worse than he expected.
But the guy still did not escape when the void was about to be closed up, Axel frowned. Could it be he still had so backup to get out of that situation? Yes, it was entirely possible. But still, the fact that he had not escaped alone, Axel could not help but feel sowhat grateful about that. Well, yes, if he really didn’t save him, then Axel was pretty sure there would be serious repercussions that Lucien would have to face, like really, really serious problems; he might even get expelled from the academy for being responsible for his complete disappearance.
So, Axel wasn’t too grateful to him; in the end, Lucien did save his life, for benefit or not did not change that fact. Just a slight gratitude was due; that is all. Nothing more and nothing else.
The next day, he was back in the very private training hall, which he was in with Lucien yesterday. Lucien and Axel were both there, and it felt awkward for a mont, as neither of them said anything to each other. Axel eventually said, “I um…..I’m sorry about what I said yesterday.”
“And thank you for saving my life, I will repay you sohow for it.”
Lucien raised an eyebrow at that statent, “How are you so sure I saved your life?”
Axel chuckled internally and said, “You’re the one who said it, though.”
“Well, even if I don’t rember anything, after started to feel so parts moving in the void or just sothing, then spread my existence and focused on it. After that, I think I started assimilating. From that point on, nothing ca to my mind but the wretched pain I felt, which was real. I have never ever felt so much pain at once in my entire existence.”
After that, he said no more and waited for Lucien to respond, who seed to be humming internally and thinking about everything he said, and analyzing truth or false. Axel knew he was under severe scrutiny in front of the prince, so he had to act his part. Being as normal as possible without raising any red flags that might give him away.
Lucien eventually gave out a soft chuckle, finding nothing suspicious about him.
“It’s fine, I guess, I didn’t mind much about it.”
“Though, I must admit, it felt quite hurtful hearing such things that I talked too much like a woman right after I risked my own life to save yours. And that while doing a favor for you, which I did not have anything to gain except for an empty promise. Sigh, it’s such a hard life these days, you only get badmouthed while trying to make an honest living. No wonder all the good people of the world die early these days, perhaps my ti is close to.”
Axel almost visibly cringed at that thought, this mf son of a bitch really knew how to use words so masterfully, that if Heinz were here, he would’ve shed tears out of gratefulness.
Axel gave Lucien an unamused look and said, “Don’t push it, Lucien.”
Lucien grumbled in annoyance, seeing him cringe at his words, “Alright, alright. But rember, I’m not letting this one go without gaining anything.”
Axel sighed and nodded towards him in agreent, he said, “Well, I need to enter the void again.”
Lucien robotically turned his head, not understanding the words he heard. He asked again, “Sorry, I think I heard wrong, hmm. Maybe, sothing went into my ear, perhaps.”
Axel cleared his throat and repeated the sa words. Lucian’s eyes widened, and he looked at Axel like he was a madman or sothing. His face beca furious as he grabbed his shoulder, despite it being sothing severely disliked by Axel.
Lucien tightened his grip on his shoulder, and he was putting quite a bit of strength into it as well. Lucien declared in a chilling tone, gazing from a low end, “ARE YOU BULSHITTING RIGHT NOW? AXEL FUCKING NOMRAD??”
Axel remained undeterred by his serious glare and threatening undertone, he looked at the hand put on his shoulder. He used his own hand and grabbed his wrist with a strong grip of his own, despite Lucien putting in a lot of strength in his arm, Axel removed it without too much difficulty. After that was done, looking at Lucien, he said calmly,
“First of all, listen to what I have to fucking say and calm the fuck down.”
Lucien glared at him even more furiously, but eventually stepped back and folded his arms waiting for him to continue, “I know this previous ti wasn’t successful, I was unable to get the sense of it, because of abruptly being almost assimilated by the void, but I was close to it, I think I almost felt it, I almost grasped it.”
“It almost felt so natural, almost like I had lived as a blind man from the beginning, for not having that sense.”
“Just one more try, and I’m sure, I would be able to get it, without much difficulty, I also understand why I was being assimilated so damn fast. I had let myself completely loose, just focusing on sensing the mysterious flow within the void, disregarding myself totally, which resulted in being assimilated.”
“I know this sounds crazy, and I understand your vehent stand against it, but it is sothing I must learn, I can’t go through that sa situation ever again being so fucking useless ever again, so please Lucien you must understand my stance.”
Lucien frowned at that revelation, he kept looking at Axel’s eyes inspecting any trace of lie or suspicion in it, he finally broke eye contact and cursed aloud in frustration, Axel basically used his own situation against him, just like it was important for Lucien to gain an advantage no matter the risk, the desire to gain an external sense that could be used for anything with practice.
He was also showing the sa stubbornness for the sa reasons. So, if he were to now deny Axel from doing it, it would be the sa as denying himself. Sothing he could not do, no matter what.
As expected, after a lot of grumbling and cursing on his part, the guy eventually admitted defeat and decided to go along with his wishes, damn be the consequences and the academy authorities, they might as well fuck off. Well, according to the words of Lucien, that is. So, for the 2nd ti, Axel entered the void again.
