As Sophia ran past the battlefield, the one-sided fight between Gareth and the Death Knight grew bigger and bigger in her eyes. The colossal power of both parties, which almost affected the surrounding air itself, she could feel it much more clearly.

With every single step she took, the ground started to feel like sticky mud that was trying to grab her legs; she began to feel the corrosive death energy potent enough even to start affecting her. Gareth was truly no match against the dreaded knight, more than that.

The stallion of the Death Knight didn’t even join in the battle. Not that it needed the help of its undead horse in the first place. Sophia coated her entire body in the all-encompassing darkness, and the difficulty in movent she felt eased.

Though she wasn’t entirely spared from the adverse effects of the death energy, as the potency of it kept increasing the more she neared that dreaded peak 4th phase existence. A being three whole stages above her, approaching the 5th phase.

Soone she had no chance of standing against, not even in her wildest dreams. Even if she did advance to the 2nd phase, she highly doubted whether she could truly take that thing on. But there was no other choice, only she might be able to do it, and no one else.

And to save Axel, if she had to attempt the impossible, she would do so with pleasure. After all, she had already done a task far more impossible than the one standing in front of her. So, nothing would stop her from making sure Axel would be safe and sound.

The mont Sophia was within a 50-ter radius of the Death Knight, the undead steed standing on the sidelines turned towards her and let out a disturbing echo that made her halt in her tracks.

HhhhrrrRRRREEEEEEEEEaaaaaaAAARRRRhhhkkkHHHHHhhh

After which, the blue flaming eyes of the Dreadful Knight also turned towards Sophia for the first ti; it wasn’t the fact that the knight did not sense her approaching, but ignored her. In its eyes, a re peak 1st phase human was even less than an ant.

But when the hollow eyes of the being landed on her, a flicker of recognition passed through his face, as he stated with a trace of surprise,

"Oh my, if it isn’t the fad valkyrie of humanity?"

Sophia felt her whole body tremble under the heavy gaze of the Undead Knight. Her instincts were screaming in danger, telling her to turn back and run away. But she showed no fear in her eyes; gritting her teeth, she cald herself. Only the unwavering determination remained in her eyes.

Gareth was battered entirely, barely managing to keep himself on his feet, as the countless black cuts with rotting death energy were covering his whole body; the blood coming out of all those places was now black in color instead of red. He looked like soone who had been bathed in black ink and left to rot alive.

Hearing the words of the Knight, Gareth’s eyes shot wide open as he looked towards Sophia in disbelief. He tried to speak, but he didn’t have enough energy to do that, nor was his body capable of making sounds in that state. He only made so incomprehensible noises that didn’t make sense. But Sophia obviously understood what the master forger was trying to convey.

But she didn’t even give the man a second glance, ignoring the forger completely, her eyes locked on the Death Knight, all of her senses on complete alert for any minor action from the Undead knight and its steed.

The Knight chuckled, the sound of it, almost like dry wood grinding against one another, "Little valkyrie, tell .... what do you hope to achieve by coming here? Or are you just as delusional as this one fool here?"

Every single word of it, hitting like a sledgehamr on the mind of Sophia, making her head buzz non-stop. But she only sneered outwardly, taking one step closer with each word, as she iterated coldly,

"? What reason could I be here except to kill you?"

And before she could speak a single word more, or take one step further, a black arc of death energy shot out at such a speed that was incomprehensible for Sophia, it landed just a few centiters away from her feet, making a deep semi-circular black mark on the ground.

Gareth jumped at the Death Knight with his sword again, trying to stop him, but the knight shot another attack in the direction of the forger, which pushed him backward more than the few steps he had advanced. Ignoring Gareth....

The Death Knight, this ti, announced with a trace of undisguised contempt, "It seems you do not understand the reality of the situation, little valkyrie. I know the summoned valkyries of humanity are almost unmatched in power. But it does not change the fact that you are too weak at the mont. Right now, you are no different from any other ant in my eyes."

"Do not cross that line, Valkyrie. I do not wish to lower myself and draw my blade against an insect and kill it accidentally. Because my orders are to bring you back alive. So, know your place, insect."

The mont that snarky remark of the Death Knight reached Sophia’s ears, the white of her eye turned pitch black, and the blood-red iris narrowed into slits, becoming indistinguishable from the sclera.

She could barely contain all the bloodlust she was holding within, that was erupting like a volcano, but she held it in; her bloodlust itself was a powerful weapon that should not be revealed prematurely in such a high-stakes battle where she could lose her life without even realizing.

Yet, her ego was bigger than anything else. She stepped forward, crossing the black line, not an ounce of worry in her eyes, only a murderous-predatory glare that even the Knight found unpleasant to look at.

But the knight itself did not take action; instead, it simply let out a chilling command, "Nefron, put this wretch in its place. This little ant has gotten too out of touch with the reality of the world."

The helt of the undead knight that was sitting on the back of the undead steed dropped to the ground and made a cold tallic sound, which was the only warning Sophia got before the dreaded stallion charged forward like an enraged bull.
