Sophia, after another attempt within her aspect chambers, faced off against the hundreds of thousands of corrupted, radioactive humans and failed again for the umpteenth ti. There was so progress, but it was extrely minuscule.

Even that small amount of cumulative progress eventually ca to a grinding halt. No matter how much backlash she suffered after every attempt. No matter how it hurt her soul, even though she had to endure the pain on a scale similar to disobeying the minor commands coming from the soul brand.

She didn’t care and persevered. With such a wide gap in her mories, which caused her to feel an existential crisis for every breath she lived on, it was the only thing she could do. To grow stronger. Only then could she have the possibility of escaping the clutches of the king. That was her only hope: to beco strong enough to force answers from the ruler of Suncrest.

She doubted if anyone else, but the king, could do such a thing to her. The hatred within her heart was like a collapsing volcano. Only if she were strong enough. She would butcher the King, that arrogant wretch, make him bend to his knees.

Cleaning off all the blood and sweat from herself, she exited the training room. As she had been in it for a few days straight. Hitting the limit of pain for what she could endure. A cool breeze embraced her from all directions as she walked out of the doorway.

She felt sowhat refreshed, and as she walked through the corridor with an expressionless face, from the corner of her eye, she saw a blue-haired man with ocean-blue eyes and a striking appearance standing there, stunned by the sight of her.

She walked past and didn’t care. Any man who ever saw her for the first ti had a similar reaction. It wasn’t abnormal.

But after walking past the blue-haired figure, for a mont, a dark fragrance wafted into her nose, coming from the blue-eyed man. The halo of All-Encompassing darkness that passively surrounded her all the ti stirred ever so slightly, almost like the opposite poles of the magnet being attracted to one another.

This was incredibly faint, maybe even nonexistent; it happened only for a fraction of a second as well. But it did not escape her sharp eyes. Yet, for so reason, she didn’t think much of it. Perhaps it was only a coincidence. And she kept walking on her path.

Thud!!!

A noise reached her ears, the sound of the blue-haired man’s knees hitting the floor. Curious, she looked over her shoulder and felt the pull of the darkness once more, a bit more noticeable this ti. The beautiful fragrance also beca stronger.

And she noticed that the blue man was rolling on the ground, a strange black blood coming out of his orifices, making his handso face look hideous. She watched on expressionlessly as the man brought out a vial of dicine, but it dropped from his hand, rolling on the marble floor.

He tried crawling like a worm, but couldn’t; that corrupted dark substance was eating him from within, as far as she could surmise. For a mont, she could not help but find it annoying. Could this man have done this to get her attention? It wouldn’t be the first ti soone crazy had done sothing like this.

But then she erased that thought, the man was indeed dying, more than that, this scent and the small pull she felt in her darkness, they weren’t sothing that could be manipulated.

For they were her core instincts. So, in the end, she turned around and took a step towards him. Not out of compassion but just out of curiosity, and the strangeness she felt from him for seemingly no reason.

She picked up the green vial and examined it. She didn’t know what type of dicine it was; it could probably save him. But she didn’t know whether she should save him. She asked, seeing that he was breath away from spiritual death, "Will this save you?"

He didn’t answer, but he only kept looking at her with an extrely complicated gaze, a gaze that did not make sense to Sophia. Normally, most n would only look at her with either intense lust for her beauty or great reverence for her status as the divine valkyrie.

But this was the first ti soone had looked at her with such a complicated array of emotions and a sad, lost gaze. There was no plea in his eyes for help; his eyes looked at her with no expectation of being saved, but there was only a boundless sadness and nothing more.

She could not help but ask, giving in to her curiosity, "Do you want to save you?"

Unfortunately, for Axel, by now his mind was already half swallowed by the sin of despair; his thought process was not entirely his own, the infinite number of demonic voices drowned him into the darkest abyss, "No, KILL ....Please."

For a mont, Sophia was surprised; she did not show it on her face, but her eyes said it all, and she was not surprised by the request, because countless n would actually want to die by her hands; their willpower was so weak that they lost their minds the first ti they ever saw her.

But this person, who wanted to die, was the polar opposite of any of such n whom she had seen till now; even the golden prince was the sa as any of them. He looked like he didn’t care on the front, but deep in his eyes, that wretch also had the lust hidden within.

And that disgusted her to the extre. But this blue-haired man’s strangeness intrigued her, so she did the opposite. She chuckled, and the sweetness of her soft smile could even lt the world, "Then I will just save you blue hair."

Opening the lid of the vial, she crouched down slightly and poured the contents of it into the dying Axel’s mouth. Even though more than half of his mind wanted to condemn him to a premature death. The last shred of his will greedily drank the liquid, grasping onto the straws of life.

If he had taken the dicine at least a few monts before, the effects of it would have been much more imdiate, but the corruption of the sin of despair had drowned him too much.

So ti was needed for his will to drive back the corruption. Thus, Axel turned unconscious, yet at the last mont before that, he whispered in a barely audible tone, which only the valkyrie could hear, "I’m sorry..."

Sophia frowned. Why did he say that? She was sure she had never t this person in her life. So, why did he look at her in that manner?

Before she could continue her train of thought, a female voice shouted from ahead, almost in panic, "Axel???? Axel....."

Sophia saw the red-haired girl rushing in this direction, towards the unconscious blue-haired man, his na registered in Sophia’s mind, ’So, his na is Axel? Hmm, strange na.’ she thought.

Vyra hurriedly checked him. She was sowhat surprised that Sophia was here, but upon seeing the vial in Sophia’s hand, she realized imdiately what had happened. After all, she was the one who created it for Axel.

She heaved a sigh of relief, as the dicine seed to be working on him fine. But his state had turned quite bad from the looks of it, and the cause of it was just as obvious: it was Sophia. He had a ntal breakdown from seeing her, or maybe sothing else happened.

Vyra asked cautiously, "Sophia, what happened to him?"

The valkyrie studied her for a mont and said, "I do not know. I was walking past him, and suddenly this happened."

Vyra opened his mouth to say sothing, but in the end, chose not to; she sighed, "Thank you for saving my friend."

From behind, Heinz approached, and seeing this scene, he was confused. What the heck happened here? Why was that arrogant bastard suddenly in a state like this? Did the valkyrie beat him up black and blue? He could not help but smile in glee.

Though given the seriousness of the situation, it seed like sothing else. He would have to hear it all from Vyra.

Sophia looked at Axel one more ti and asked, "Who is he?"

Vyra answered after so thought, "He is Axel Nomrad. The Grandson of Damien Nomrad, he attended the academy with us. Though you wouldn’t recognize him since he was hiding his true appearance and remained out of sight from anything that brought him attention."

Sophia nodded and got up. She left; she did not even spare Heinz a glance, treating him as if he were air. Suddenly, she was surprised by her own actions in the past few minutes.

Why did she even think about this person so deeply? She hated n inherently, so why did she feel like that hate wasn’t there when standing next to him?

She felt conflicted by her own strangeness. Eventually, she shook her head and erased those unnecessary thoughts. In the end, these were all unimportant; if she ever t Axel again, she would try to get the answers. That’s all there is to it. Nothing more and nothing less.
