Now reading: Chapter 3: Kissed The Duchess? from Extra's Supremacy: Rise of the Forgotten Background Character, a Fantasy novel by CrimsonFable.

I opened my eyes slowly.

The once unfamiliar room now felt oddly familiar.

Thank god, the gorilla maid was nowhere in sight.

It took only a few seconds to piece things together.

I transmigrated. That much, I already suspected. But now, with the sudden flood of new mories, I knew exactly where I was.

And it wasn’t so random fantasy world.

Nope. That would’ve been a blessing.

Instead... I transmigrated into a novel.

The very sa novel my best friend wrote.

The one I butchered and turned into a ga—Legacy: Rewritten.

The original title?

Ascension of the SSS-Rank God Killer.

Yeah. Sounds brain-rot right.

I was the one who suggested that cringey na, too. Thought it’d help the story pop.

It didn’t.

The book flopped.

Too much suffering. No emotional payoff. Too repetitive. Everyone died in the end.

So I "fixed" it.

Changed the entire plot. Polished it into a ga. And it worked. The ga was a hit. But now I’m stuck inside the original version.

The unfiltered, undiluted, everyone-dies version.

And I’m not the hero. Not the villain, either.

I’m an extra. A nobody.

No... scratch that.

I’m the most unfortunate extra in the entire goddamn book.

The one who died after kissing the Female lead’s mother.

Now, a lot of other transmigrators would be like, I will avoid the death flag and all.

But surprise surprise.

The event already happened.

Just yesterday this bastard—Rael Von Ashborn– kissed the Duchess on her birthday.

While drunk. In front of her husband. And her daughter.

The condition of my body was all due to it.

I was fortunate that Duke Reynold Von Ashborn or should I now say my father intervened and saved barely before Duel Astravore could turn into floor paint.

But the danger wasn’t over.

If the plot followed the original story.

I was to be executed soon.

Why not imdiately?

The world I’m currently in has so strict rules.

And one of them clearly stated: No killing till a person awakens class.

At least not official killing.

Unofficially? Anything could happen.

Every person in this world awakens their class at seventeen.

The world is currently at war with so psychopathic species.

The residents of this world called them.

ASS.

Yeah this wasn’t an insult.

The full form was, Allied Sovereign Species.

In short, ASS.

They weren’t a single species. They were a group of different alien species allied to take over planets within this small universe of The Veyrion Expanse.

In short, these ASS guys threatened the peace of this world.

So, the governnt made strict rules to not kill any person before they awakened.

This rule was made for saving a precious talent from dying before awakening. Especially those with B-Rank class or above.

If my mory serves right. Tomorrow is when I’ll awaken my class.

If everything goes according to the novel, I’ll awaken so useless class and get assassinated by the Duke Astravore—The father of the female lead and the guy whose wife this bastard kissed.

Fuck.

__

Ok let’s calm down.

First let’s recount what I know.

So, this world is similar to the novel of my friend.

I sohow transmigrated inside an extra character.

Rael Von Ashborn.

I rember laughing when Noah first told about this character.

He’d said,

"He’s you. I gave him your na, your attitude, your stubbornness... and then I killed him in the prologue for fun."

Apparently, I was fated to die a dumb death in both worlds.

Rael was heir of the Ashborn family. One of the ruling families. His father Reynold Von Ashborn was S Rank Resonants. And the head of the Ducal family. Though he didn’t have much power due to being the weakest duke.

His grandfather held most of the power in the family as being one of the seven SS Rank Resonants.

Resonants is the word commonly used for everyone who successfully awakens their class at the age of seventeen.

Yesterday at the birthday of Duchess Sylvia, this bastard got a bit drunk.

I don’t rember the exact reason. Probably due to drunkard mory loss syndro.

But sohow this fucker walked towards the Duchess, who was with her daughter at that ti, talking to so guests.

Without wasting any ti he kissed her lips. The impact was imdiate. As before he could even enjo– I an pull his lips away, Rael was slapped by her.

He was directly plastered on the wall.

This was all I could recall from the mories I inherited. But I found it weird.

How the hell did Rael land a kiss on her? Drunk or not, that shouldn’t be possible. She was one of the resonants. But still it didn’t make sense.

Even soone at F-Rank could easily dodge Rael, let alone duchess who was at D Rank.

How could a weak unawakened bastard like Rael catch her off-guard?

Sothing felt off.

Just then I rembered a key information from mories of Rael.

The Duchess was a D Rank Resonant but she was a mage. A support-type, at that. Low agility and trash reflexes. Moreover she was caught off-guard.

I was only saved yesterday because of Reynold, who interfered right before Duke Astravore could intervene.

Duke Astravore was a monster through and through. Standing at SS-Rank. He revived his family which was on the verge of falling down the rank of dukes.

He was a legend.

And Rael—no I sohow offended that guy. Even if I don’t die tomorrow, that guy won’t leave alone.

He won’t try to kill directly. But he didn’t need to do that either. Assassins. Or even so nobles would gladly do his job.

Fuck my life.

Why did I have to transmigrate into this trash?

All my excitent and happiness for being transmigrated turned into rage as I understood my situation.

I’m fucked, aren’t I?

__

After cursing my life for two straight hours, I gave up.

Not on life. Just the cursing. It wasn’t helping.

I had three options.

Option One—Run away from the family and hide in so quiet corner of the world, hoping Duke Astravore won’t find .

Yeah, not possible.

Astravore was a fucking monster. His class was [Seer Of Stars]. An Unique class with many powers and apparently one of them was really useful in finding rats who ran away. He once hunted a criminal through ten cities using a map made of stardust.

Option Two—accept my fate and die.

Tempting. But no thanks.

What kind of idiot gives up a second life in a world with magic, monsters and thrilling adventures.

My old life was quiet. Too quiet. No parents. No friends. Just a successful company, fake smiles and a whole lot of nothing.

I was bored.

I didn’t have any attachnts to that life either. But this world was different. It was filled with enjoynt.

And I wanted in.

Which left with Option Three—the only real one. Get a good class.

Sounds easy, right?

Wrong.

In this world, most people awaken a class on their seventeenth birthday.

There was only a small catch–they had to complete a class trial. It could be anything.

It could be sothing normal like catching a rabbit or dancing with so monkey. Or sothing dangerous like having a staring contest with a dragon.

Both sound ridiculous, right?

But it happened. At least according to Rael’s mories, so people in this world had to face those challenges.

Once the trial’s done, the system assigns a class based on your choices, instincts and performance.

It’s all mystical, magical and a bit ssed up.

And I have no idea what mine was going to be.

__

Just then— a sudden chi echoed in my head.

[Synchronization Complete.]

[Class has Awakened.]

I froze.

W-What?

Class awakened? But that can’t be. I never did the trial... Did I?

Wait, wait, wait. No.

That’s not how this works. I didn’t do anything.

Date... What’s the date today?

My heart raced as I lunged for the device on the nightstand—an AetherLink, the magical smartphone of this world.

A quick swipe and the date flashed on screen.

9 August, 2788.

No.

No no no.

My birthday was yesterday—8 August.

Which ant the trial... had already happened. And I had no mory of it.

Nothing.

Rael’s mories—what little I inherited—didn’t have it either.

But that’s impossible.

Even drunkards rember their trials.

So why don’t I?

Sothing felt off. Very off.

I muttered the only thing that made sense.

"Status."

[Displaying Status Window...]

And right there, my last hope shattered.
