Orthis laughed heartily, his face brimming with triumph and exhilaration.
His confidant hurriedly retrieved champagne from the car's mini-fridge, opened it, and filled Orthis's glass.
Swirling the glass, Orthis savored the sensation of victory, humming to himself.
However, at that very mont, a burst of astonished cries and commotion erupted from the search and rescue site ahead. Hearing this, Orthis looked over curiously.
When he got a clear view of the scene, he froze, stunned as if struck by lightning.
Because the one causing the commotion was none other than the very person who, in everyone's eyes, should have been a corpse—Zhang Beixing!

Under the dumbfounded stares of the Ancient Ro firefighters—who looked as if they'd seen a ghost—Zhang Beixing strolled to the aerial ladder, carrying the unconscious Diablo as if he were rely a small chicken.
He even took the ti to nonchalantly light a cigarette and pause for a mont. The firefighters snapped back to reality as if waking from a dream and quickly contacted the control tower, requesting the aerial ladder to be lowered.
Seeing this, Zhang Beixing said no more.
He simply rode the ladder down.
Before long, he was on the ground.
Stepping onto the century-old stone slabs, the solid feel beneath his feet reassured Zhang Beixing. This mission, at last, had co to a perfect close.
No one around him had the slightest inkling of his thoughts and feelings.
But they did know one thing—they were about to lose their minds.

Seeing the familiar figure descending from the aerial ladder, Zhou Zhenghua's jaw dropped in shock.
The cigarette dangling from his lips fell, burning a hole in his clothes.
Under normal circumstances, Zhou Zhenghua would have been annoyed, or at the very least, he'd have patted out the smoldering hole.
But now, he couldn't care less.
Because at this mont, only one thought occupied Zhou Zhenghua's mind.
Am I seeing ghosts in broad daylight?!
Zhou Zhenghua was fraught with disbelief and uncertainty.
What in the world is going on?
Did I really just see Zhang Beixing coming down from that ladder?
How is this even possible?!
He had personally witnessed Zhang Beixing being shot during the live broadcast, bullets piercing straight into his heart. Under any circumstances, that should have been certain death. But now...

Without hesitation, Zhou Zhenghua raised his hand and slapped his own face. He hit hard. His cheek imdiately turned red and began to swell, stinging with pain.
Now, Zhou Zhenghua was genuinely stunned. Because he was acutely aware that what was happening before his eyes wasn't a dream!

Zhang Beixing actually survived!
In an instant, a torrent of emotions surged through him: shock, joy, incredulity, curiosity, and fear!
This left him speechless for a mont.
Nearby, Officer Baal heard the commotion from Zhou Zhenghua's direction and was intrigued.
He was about to ask Zhou Zhenghua what he was doing, why he was hitting himself for no reason.
But before he could say anything, he followed Zhou Zhenghua's gaze. What he saw made him freeze.
A chill shot up from the base of his spine to the crown of his head.
Without a second thought, Officer Baal promptly drew the service pistol from his waist, aid it at Zhang Beixing, who had just stepped off the aerial ladder, and said tensely, "FUCK! Are you human or a ghost?!"
Hearing this, Zhang Beixing glanced over.
Upon seeing a middle-aged policeman aiming a gun at him, Zhang Beixing's brows furrowed in displeasure.
Instinctively, he considered channeling his Postnatal Five Qi to go over and give the man a piece of his mind.
But then he noticed Zhou Zhenghua standing beside the policeman.
Guessing the policeman might be soone of significance, Zhang Beixing restrained his impulse.
He simply held the unconscious Diablo in front of him as a shield, just in case.
Zhang Beixing looked at Zhou Zhenghua. "Officer Zhou, are you just going to stand there gaping, or are you going to do sothing?"
"Ah? Oh! Oh!"
Hearing Zhang Beixing's words, Zhou Zhenghua snapped out of it. He covered the cheek he had just slapped red and swollen with one hand and, with the other, pressed down on Baal's drawn gun.
"Calm down, Chief Baal, don't be so nervous! He's not a ghost, he's human!"
"You're full of shit!" Chief Baal didn't mince words, cursing outright as he kept his wary gaze on Zhang Beixing. "The live broadcast clearly showed him getting hit by more than ten bullets! But now he's standing right here! Good God, are you telling that's human?!"
"Uh... well... how should I put this..."
Zhou Zhenghua was at a loss for words, stuttering for a long ti without managing to offer any clear explanation.
Truth be told, he himself found the whole affair incredibly absurd and eerie.
But the problem was, this was reality.
Zhang Beixing had been hit by more than ten bullets, yet he hadn't died. He was right here. What could anyone do about that?
