Seeing a dressing table that appeared to belong to the lady of the house, Olivia’s eyes lit up, and she dashed towards it.
"Shush, shush," she began rummaging through the jewelry box, because inside might be the "weapon" she most needed!
However.
To her disappointnt, the jewelry box mostly contained gold products spanning at least a thousand years, from various eras.
There wasn’t a single piece of pure silver, which could harm "ghosts," and the gemstones that could generate positive energy like rubies and tourmalines were equally hard to find.
In the end, she only found one peridot that could control the [Wind Elent].
However, she was also certain of one thing: this seemingly peaceful place was not a safe zone but, like those previous areas, also had its own "ghost" master!
Retreat imdiately.
"Big sister, what are you looking for?"
A childish voice suddenly sounded behind her, so abrupt that she hadn’t heard any footsteps, giving Olivia quite a fright; she almost dropped her sole trophy.
She hurriedly turned around for a look.
On the windowsill was a cute little boy in a small suit, holding a brass box and swinging his legs while tilting his head to look at her.
However, not only did Olivia not lose her vigilance because of the boy’s cute appearance, but she also beca more alert. Being cognitively impaired did not an she had lost common sense.
Silently cursing her bad luck, she couldn’t believe she had been caught red-handed in just a short while.
"N-no... not looking for anything. Little brother, you..."
With her fist holding the peridot hidden behind her back, Olivia began to slowly move towards the door.
"Thief, you’re lying! All the toys in the world belong to Little Jack. Hand it over!!!"
Noticing her clenched fist, the little boy suddenly flew into a rage without warning. Veins bulged on his face, his eyes turned blood-red, and his mouth stretched back to his ears, revealing a black maw that seed to lead straight to hell.
An almost palpable chilling breeze erupted.
Centered around the little boy, the entire castle appeared to have succumbed to a "Flesh Curse," with the walls, floors, and furniture beginning to writhe and change, as if becoming parts of so massive creature.
Bang—
Not daring to rush through the window where the "little boy" was, Olivia lifted her brilliantly white glowing long leg and kicked down the door, which was beginning to rge with the wall.
Covering her skirt, she jumped into the circular hall at the center of the castle, ready to escape, only to find the door at the end of her line of sight had already been securely sealed.
She stepped back, feeling a chill in her heart.
Standing at the main bedroom door, looking down from above, the "little boy" opened the brass box’s lid, shouting in excitent like playing a ga:
"Little Jack’s ’toy soldiers’ attack."
One by one, tall and slender tal soldiers in red and blue uniforms, shouldering firearms, jumped from the box. On landing, they grew to human size.
Their eyes also glowed red, as if possessed, and they marched in formation along the second-floor hallway, all aiming their rifles at Olivia in the hall.
Not daring to hesitate, a whirlwind rose beneath her feet.
[Peridot: Speed Boost]
Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam!...
Without any command or reloading, the forty firearmsn poured out a barrage.
The web of firepower shredded the white phantom.
Seeing the thief downstairs jumping and dodging, the boy who called himself Little Jack gleefully flailed his arms, giving another command:
"Hehehe... Big sister, play gas with Little Jack’s soldiers. If you can’t die, I’ll forgive you! ’Cannoneers’ attack."
Boom! Boom! Boom!...
Not caring about his own castle, ten six-pounder bronze cannons unleashed terrifying power. Smoke billowed, and sand and stones flew.
The entire castle shook slightly.
"Insane!"
Olivia fled in a panic while furiously cursing in her heart, but she had no choice. For now, she could only play by the boy’s rules and see if he kept his word.
With the speed boost from the peridot, she perford the steps of Rose Swordsmanship, weaving through the gunfire and explosions like a dance — a dance with death.
The girl tensed every nerve; even a slight relaxation would an instant obliteration.
Suddenly, her peripheral vision caught a glint from toys blown away by cannon fire, a brilliant shine flashing through her vision.
Simultaneously.
"Ahahah... Fun, fun! Little Jack’s ’cavalry’ charge."
Neigh—
A group of tal cavalry, not bothered by the cramped hall, raised sabers and charged from the second floor, leaving Olivia nowhere to maneuver.
Little Jack’s face bore the innocent yet cruel smile of a child scalding ants with boiling water.
The gleaming blades almost pricked her tender skin.
But before that.
A toy doll with eyes as gorgeous as moonlight had already been snatched into her hand.
The next mont.
An eye made of moonstone was already suspended like a bright full moon in the hall’s sky.
prol—
To the girl’s cool chant, the pure moonlight’s radiance spread like water waves across the hall.
[Gem Witchcraft: Moonstone: Spiritual Purification]
The ghosts, not of a high level, couldn’t resist such a powerful purifying force that could even reverse "out-of-control." One by one, stooped figures detached from the tal soldiers’ bodies, purged of filth, returning to their human form.
