Divine Sword Sect.
Fang Yan, Qin Kun, and Wu Shan had been in seclusion for several months. All three had reached the Human Immortal Realm, which required them to stabilize their cultivation. Fang Yan had previously given guidance to Qin Kun and Wu Shan, making their cultivation journey smoother.
On this day, Qin Kun and Wu Shan erged from seclusion simultaneously. Due to breaking through to the Human Immortal Realm, their status within the Heavenly Court had risen significantly, attracting others to greet them. After exchanging brief pleasantries, they went to find Fang Yan, wanting to know what his next plan was.
However, when the two arrived outside Fang Yan’s cave, they found that it was still closed. They exchanged a glance and said nothing, just stood at the entrance waiting. They knew that the Boss was aware they had co and was likely occupied, preventing him from coming out.
In fact, just as they thought, Fang Yan had noticed them even before they arrived. However, he was in the middle of attempting to integrate the various Cultivation Techniques taught by Lin Feng with the Nine Suns Suppression Heaven Art and the Nine Ice Divine Control Technique, preventing him from stopping at that mont.
Fang Yan had been focused on this task for the past few days. Although he had made so progress, moving further was extrely difficult. Realizing it was pointless to keep wasting ti like this, he halted the process of rging the cultivation techniques.
As he walked out of the cave and saw Qin Kun and Wu Shan’s condition, Fang Yan nodded with satisfaction, "You two did well, stabilizing your realms completely in just a few months and improving significantly."
"Boss, isn’t this all thanks to your leadership?"
"Boss, it’s all your credit!"
Hearing Fang Yan’s praise, Qin Kun and Wu Shan smiled as they spoke. They were genuinely happy, reflecting on events from over the past two years, which seed like a dream. Normally, breaking through from the Divine Firmant Realm to the Human Immortal Realm would take a decade or two, but under Fang Yan’s guidance, it had only taken them a little over two years. The disparity was trendous. Without Fang Yan, they could never have beco experts in the Human Immortal Realm.
"These things don’t need to be said. Let’s take a walk around." Fang Yan, hearing their words, waved his hand nonchalantly and then walked towards the Scenic Sky Courtyard. These days had been surprisingly calm, which made him feel uneasy.
When the three arrived at the Scenic Sky Courtyard, they found no Disciples of Heaven Institute there. Helpless, Fang Yan led the two to find Shi Kuohai to inquire about so news.
"Fang Yan, you three have co out?" Shi Kuohai said with a smile, looking at Fang Yan. The more he looked, the more satisfied he was. Fang Yan had already reached the Human Immortal Realm, yet Shi Kuohai couldn’t discern his true level, indicating how exceptional Fang Yan was. The benefits Fang Yan gained from this seclusion were more than substantial.
"Elder Shi, did anything happen during our seclusion?" Fang Yan asked with a smile. This was now his primary concern.
"Indeed, sothing did happen. The three continents within the Eternal Joy Immortal Realm are in chaos, all engaged in battles. Nurous small sects and Loose Cultivators have perished. It’s only because of Divine Sword Sect’s formidable strength that we haven’t been affected..." Shi Kuohai sighed as he answered. He couldn’t understand why such warfare suddenly engulfed the peaceful Eternal Joy Immortal Realm, resulting in massive devastation across the land.
Shi Kuohai’s words left Fang Yan and the others dumbfounded. None of them expected such things to happen. They were puzzled as to how a simultaneous outbreak of unrest on the three continents could occur. What on earth caused this?
"Elder Shi, why is this happening?" Fang Yan inquired. The abnormality of the incident puzzled him; there had to be an underlying reason for such occurrences.
"No one really knows for sure, but after the Holy Soul Sect annihilates a small sect, they plunder the Sect Treasure Vault as if searching for sothing..." Shi Kuohai was also baffled, unable to comprehend what could compel the Holy Soul Sect to initiate such aggressive actions against small sects. Divine Sword Sect had taken in dozens of sects that were wiped out, but they could only figure out a rough picture.
"What could it be?"
Fang Yan was stunned by Shi Kuohai’s answer and speculated about what the item could be that a sect values so highly. However, if you had the information, you could just target one sect, so why cause such a commotion? Therefore, it suggested that it wasn’t just one thing, and only such a theory made sense.
Yet, at that mont, Fang Yan couldn’t guess. His intuition told him that the actions of the Holy Soul Sect must significantly benefit them. Otherwise, they wouldn’t risk global condemnation by initiating a siege. To uncover the truth, he realized his current rank wasn’t sufficient; it was likely that only the sect’s inner circle knew the details.
"Nobody knows, and nobody expects a small sect to hold anything of interest for the Holy Soul Sect." Shi Kuohai shook his head while looking at Fang Yan, genuinely unsure what the Holy Soul Sect was searching for.
Suddenly recalling another matter, Shi Kuohai promptly inford Fang Yan, "By the way, I have an old acquaintance in the Holy Soul Sect. I heard they’ve also started raiding other cultivation planes, presumably for resource plundering. This is truly odd. I can’t understand why the Holy Soul Sect would resort to such extensive asures."
Shi Kuohai had pondered this many tis, unable to decipher the Holy Soul Sect’s ultimate aim. His instinct told him they must have a reason, considering that raiding other cultivation planes was a grave taboo. Those various planes are fundantal to the developnt of the Eternal Joy Immortal Realm. If the foundation were destroyed, so would the Eternal Joy Immortal Realm. With such a premise in mind, the Holy Soul Sect’s actions hinted at sothing amiss!
"There’s sothing like this happening..."
Fang Yan fell into deep thought upon hearing Shi Kuohai’s words. He had considered those issues imdiately but wasn’t only limited to what they discussed. His intuition indicated that the situation was extraordinarily serious. The Holy Soul Sect’s drastic moves implied they weren’t rely plundering cultivation resources but instead seeking sothing hidden within the Holy Soul Continent, with resource plundering only as a byproduct.
Black Spirit Stone!
He suddenly recalled Shi Kuohai’s past ntion of the Black Spirit Stone, imdiately focusing the target on it. The Holy Soul Sect had been desperately searching for the Black Spirit Stone, and now, many events seed to correlate, indicating the Holy Soul Sect’s urgency and willingness to adopt forceful asures to collect it.
Realizing the crux of the situation, Fang Yan beca even more puzzled about what the Holy Soul Sect urgently needed the Black Spirit Stone for. Linking it with the undercover task assigned by his original body, he vaguely guessed that the Black Spirit Stone might be for sothing related to Earth, though the exact plan of the Holy Soul Sect remained unknown.
Thinking of this, Fang Yan felt an increasing urgency. He realized he must beco a Taoist as soon as possible or quickly ascend to a higher rank within the sect to gather more information...
At this mont, Qin Kun and Wu Shan were also confused, failing to grasp why the Holy Soul Sect was launching such high-profile raids. However, they too sensed sothing awry and speculated internally about the Holy Soul Sect’s motives. Did they intend to seize all the resources? That would be akin to exhausting the pond for the fish. How could the Holy Soul Sect behave like this?
After hesitating for a mont, Fang Yan looked at Elder Shi, asking, "Elder Shi, about my becoming a Taoist..."
"Unfortunately, the Ancestor has suppressed it, leaving us powerless unless you contribute to the sect once again, silencing any dissent." Shi Kuohai responded with frustration at hearing Fang Yan’s question. Given Lin Feng’s current power, he should undoubtedly beco a Taoist, yet the sect remained unmoving, causing Shi Kuohai much distress. Presently, Fang Yan surpassed even his forr self, and not recognizing him as a Taoist was indeed unreasonable.
But currently, Shi Kuohai had little influence, and with the Sky Sword Ancestor’s pronouncent, the situation was inflexible. Only opportunities to make significant contributions could pave the way for Fang Yan’s path to becoming a Taoist.
"Understood." Fang Yan acknowledged Shi Kuohai’s remarks, knowing he was right. There wasn’t much more to be done besides waiting for a chance to demonstrate his worth.
"I truly can’t help you with this matter," Shi Kuohai expressed with genuine regret.
"Elder Shi, you’re overthinking it. It’s fine; I’ll handle it myself." Seeing Shi Kuohai’s apologetic deanor, Fang Yan waved it off, saying, "Elder Shi, I’m taking them to the Heaven Demon Forest. If anything changes within the sect, please notify imdiately, okay?"
"No problem. Just prioritize your safety." Shi Kuohai readily agreed, understanding Fang Yan’s intentions. After such arduous seclusion, battling demon beasts was an excellent way to hone their skills.
Hearing Shi Kuohai’s agreent, all three of them smiled. While the Heaven Demon Forest might be perilous to others, it was the safest place for them—but of course, they would keep this to themselves.
After bidding farewell to Elder Shi, the three flew towards the Heaven Demon Forest.
Now that they were all in the Human Immortal Realm, flying was possible, and they swiftly reached the skies above the Heaven Demon Forest and soon delved deep into its interior.
