Now reading: Chapter 59: Encountering a Shipwreck from Extreme Cold Era: Shelter Don't Keep Waste, a Sci-fi novel by Seventeen Kites.

Sea voyages are indeed dull, especially when the White Gem enters the northbound route. The outdoor temperature begins to gradually lower, making the deck unsuitable for activities. Being cooped up in the cabin feels even more tedious and boring.

Although Perfikot and the mbers of the exploration team still need to analyze data to prepare for the upcoming field investigation, it is clear that they can’t spend all their ti working.

Even Langton’s most exploitative factory owner has to give workers ti to go ho, sleep, and eat.

So naturally, more passengers on the ship gather in the restaurant or so cabins, starting entertainnt activities like playing cards.

As for smoking, they do want to, but smoking is not permitted freely on board. One must go to designated smoking areas to smoke, which are usually crowded, so one must queue to smoke.

Therefore, compared to other restricted activities, card gas have beco the best way for the ard personnel on board to pass ti.

Perfikot didn’t mind this, as this level of entertainnt wouldn’t cause any serious consequences, and she didn’t need to strip away even this bit of leisure.

However, she still reminded the officers on the ship to watch the soldiers and prevent them from playing too excessively.

As for Perfikot herself, she took this ti to observe the teorological and hydrological conditions of the northern route, while also tallying how many icebergs they’d seen along the way.

"It seems the situation on the northbound route is already not optimistic. This is the twelfth iceberg we’ve encountered in three days." Perfikot recorded the data while expressing her concerns to Foster: "If that’s the case, perhaps by the ti we start building shelters on the New Continent, resources and manpower would need to be transported via the southern route."

Clearly, under Perfikot’s tally, the state of drifting ice on the northbound route was not suitable for navigation.

Compared to Perfikot, Foster was more straightforward about this. He directly suggested to Perfikot, "Miss, should we notify the captain to change the route? The current state of this route is sowhat dangerous; I recomnd altering your itinerary for safety’s sake."

To Foster, nothing was more important than Perfikot’s safety.

She is the only direct descendant of the Brandlis Clan; if anything happened to her, it would an the end of the Brandlis Clan.

If such a thing did happen, Foster would have no face to et the old Baron Brandelis even in death.

Therefore, when the ship might encounter danger, Foster’s first thought was to have the captain change course to avoid segnts where icebergs might be encountered.

After all, they were on a sea voyage, not traveling on land along a predetermined path.

However, Perfikot shook her head and said, "The situation isn’t that severe yet; I need to collect more data. An increase in icebergs can bring changes to sea temperatures, affecting ocean currents, and thus causing a climate disorder on the entire planet.

The data I’m collecting now will be the first-hand valuable information essential for the future modeling of atmospheric calculations and environntal climate changes! We cannot just..."

Perfikot explained to the old butler the importance of continuing to gather data, but before she finished her words, the captain hurriedly walked over and reported to Perfikot: "Your Grace, we’ve received a distress ssage. A cruise ship near us has hit drifting ice and run aground. Should we proceed to rescue them?"

"What? Stranded after hitting ice?" A question mark appeared over Perfikot’s head; she didn’t quite understand what this ant.

But she grasped the key point in the captain’s words and directly nodded, saying: "If it’s within our capability, of course, we should go to the rescue. How serious is their situation?"

"For the mont, it’s okay. They’ve just had their ship bottom frozen by drift ice and can’t move. They just need a ship to push them or blow up the ice." The captain seed quite experienced with this and added reassuringly to Perfikot: "While not routine, we do encounter this sort of situation occasionally on the northbound route once or twice a year, and we’re very experienced in handling it."

Hearing the captain say this, Perfikot nodded in affirmation: "Since that’s the case, then go save them! Also, please inform Knight Samantha and Knight Lee, and other relevant personnel, letting them know the situation."

Knight Lee is the Knight Commander of the Sword and Rose Knight Order, full na Arthur Lee; although it sounds similar to Perfikot’s previous life in her nation, it is a distinctly native Victory na.

"Understood, rest assured I’ll notify them imdiately." The captain nodded, then turned away.

Watching the captain leave, Perfikot’s expression didn’t show optimism but instead, frowned: "Cruises encountering drifting ice on the northbound route is quite normal, I’ve seen similar records during my research.

But it’s sumrti now; there has never been a similar record before. Drift ice is prevalent in winter! This is not normal! Has the cooling already begun?"

"Miss, if there’s any danger, I still suggest you don’t easily risk yourself." The old butler looked at Perfikot, full of concern.

He’d already seen off two Brandelis family mbers; he didn’t want to send away a third.

If possible, Foster wished to see Perfikot get married and have children, with the Brandlis Clan flourishing; that way, he could at least take care of the fourth Brandelis in his lifeti before he’s too old to do so.

However, the old Foster also knew that Perfikot might never marry and have children like ordinary people.

After all, he couldn’t imagine what kind of exceptional person could earn Perfikot’s favor.

Considering Perfikot’s achievents and pride, there’s likely no one in the entirety of the Victor Empire that could stir her heart.

For this reason, old Foster was all the more unwilling for Perfikot to face any danger.

But clearly, Perfikot was not one to think of such matters; she thought briefly and then said to Foster: "Grandpa Fu, go inform the exploration team mbers, I need more people to monitor water temperatures! With a cruise encountering drift ice in such a season, sea temperatures have already undergone significant changes!"

After speaking, Perfikot suddenly rembered sothing else and instructed Foster: "Also, Grandpa Fu, please prepare that item; we might need it later."
