Da Wei was still recording everyone’s registration information, as registration for the competition wouldn’t end until nine o’clock the next morning. Following Xu Fei’s directions, Mu Chen quickly found his and Wan Xian’Er’s room on the fifth floor: Room 0936.

Xu Fei pointed to Room 0936 and said, "For the next few days during the competition, this will be your room."

Mu Chen was stunned. "A room for two?"

Wan Xian’Er also turned her puzzled gaze to Xu Fei. After a mont’s thought, Xu Fei said awkwardly, "Ah, I didn’t explain clearly. The layout of the Jin Hai Grand Hotel is rather unique; a large suite is divided into several smaller rooms. The hotel is quite large and crowded, so to prevent any trouble, they arrange people who know each other into a single large suite. For example, that father and son with the surna Ma from earlier won’t be separated. Da Wei and I always room together, and you two have been traveling together this whole ti. That’s why I deliberately chose this type of room, so you can look out for each other."

Mu Chen ca to a realization. "I see. Well, let’s go in and have a look first. Brother Xu, you must be more tired than us after these last few days. You should get so rest. We’ll be relying on your guidance for tomorrow’s affairs."

Xu Fei grunted in acknowledgnt, then turned and opened the door to the room across from Mu Chen’s. "I’m right here," he said. "If you run into any trouble, just knock."

Mu Chen smiled and nodded. He then opened their room and said to Wan Xian’Er, "Let’s go in and take a look. If you’re not comfortable with us sharing a suite, I’ll go downstairs and book another room for you."

Wan Xian’Er snorted. "Didn’t a certain soone say he wanted to be his bodyguard? Since I’m a bodyguard, the closer the better, of course. Besides, Brother Xu just said there are separate smaller rooms inside. As long as a certain soone doesn’t try to peek at people bathing in the middle of the night, I don’t mind."

The corner of Mu Chen’s mouth twitched. ’I guess I’ll never live down that peeping incident,’ he thought, powerless to argue. He opened the door, and an air of resplendent, aristocratic magnificence washed over him. An elegant crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling, and a rug made from the pelt of a High-level Magical Beast covered the floor. The spacious living room was empty save for a long golden table and several chairs, presumably for discussions.

The periter of the hall was lined with nurous green potted plants. These were either High Grade Spirit Grass or highly ornantal flowering trees. The vast, empty hall, which should have felt cold and lonely, instead seed full of life and had a faint sense of warmth, thanks to the greenery and the warm-toned lighting.

On the four sides of the living room were four White Jade-colored doors, each carved with intricate designs. The distance between any two adjacent doors was at least five ters, a testant to just how luxurious the so-called "small rooms" within this "large suite" were.

Rubbing his nose, Mu Chen smiled. "Looks like I don’t need to go downstairs and book another room for you. A room this huge would be too extravagant for one person, and it would feel too empty. What do you think, Miss Xian’Er?"

Wan Xian’Er had always been a little girl who was afraid of loneliness and the dark. She rembered the first day she left ho, staying in a dimly lit little inn, terrified even to go to the bathroom at night. Although she had gradually suppressed this fear after about two months of travel, seeing such a large room now, she knew she would feel absolutely no sense of security if she had to stay in it alone at night.

"Mhm, I think you’re right. So I’ll stay here." Wan Xian’Er’s gaze drifted over the four rooms. "Okay," she continued, "I’ll take this room. Mu Chen, you can take the one next to mine, the one closer to the main entrance."

Seeing the expression on Wan Xian’Er’s face, Mu Chen couldn’t help but smile. "Alright, I’ll take this one then."

The room Mu Chen referred to was the first one on the left after entering. Wan Xian’Er, however, had chosen the room next to his, but it was farther from the main entrance. Girls who made such a choice were usually very insecure, afraid that a group of ferocious people would suddenly burst through the main door, or that sothing strange might happen.

It was the sa reason timid people preferred to sleep against a wall rather than on the outer side of the bed; it gave them a great sense of security.

CLICK.

With a faint click, the precision-engineered door lock made a barely audible sound. He opened the door to a room as bright as day. Mu Chen’s first impression upon stepping inside was one of luxury, thoughtfulness, and comfort.

Just as Mu Chen had estimated from the outside, the room was very large—five ters wide and a full ten ters long. A room this size wouldn’t feel crowded even with three people. As for the furnishings, they were the complete opposite of the living room. If one had to describe it in a single phrase, it would be "it had everything one could possibly need."

On a solid gold round table sat silver utensils. A bottle of fine wine exuded a rich, llow aroma that was incredibly soothing. However, after entering the room, Mu Chen’s gaze was drawn entirely to the bed. To be precise, it was a gigantic bed. It took up a full one-fifth of the entire room. By a rough estimate, even seven or eight people could sleep on it without it feeling crowded at all.

"This design really is a bit peculiar."

Inside this smaller room, Mu Chen saw another door in the corner, sectioning off an area of about five square ters. If he guessed correctly, that must be the private bathroom Wan Xian’Er had ntioned.

"These facilities seem to be on par with, if not superior to, the Xuanling Empire’s Imperial Palace."

Taking off the Profound Jade Box and placing it by the bed, Mu Chen rolled over and lay face-up on the massive bed. An incredibly fluffy and comfortable sensation enveloped him. Mu Chen chuckled. "As expected of Red Fla Snow Silk. It truly is a Top Level material for making bedding. Even the most high-end hotel wouldn’t be able to find a material to rival it."

Lying on the bed, perhaps because he was so exhausted, Mu Chen quietly drifted off to sleep. This was the first ti he had slept since leaving ho. In his dream, he was running endlessly in an extrely dark place, not even knowing what he was chasing. Before him, there was no path, no scenery—only a darkness that seed capable of devouring one’s very soul.

"Co to ..."

An ethereal call suddenly reached Mu Chen’s ears from within the dark space. He stopped, gasping for breath, and shouted with all his might, "Who are you? Where is this?"

"Co to ... I’m waiting for you..."

It was that ethereal call again. Mu Chen looked around the black world in astonishnt, continuously searching for the source of the voice, but his efforts were in vain. Just as he was about to stop and rest, the entire dark space instantly collapsed. His figure was instantly buried by the terrifying darkness. Helpless, Mu Chen roared, trying to break free, but felt as if he couldn’t make a single sound.

"Ah!"

With a cry of alarm, Mu Chen shot up from the gigantic bed, his entire body soaked in sweat. Beads of sweat were still dripping from his forehead.

"Huff... Huff..."

Wiping the sweat from his brow, Mu Chen frowned at his damp palm. He composed himself. ’A dream... But what was that calling to ? And it felt so real.’

With a soft thud, Mu Chen got out of bed and walked slowly to the window. Through it, he could see the bustling night outside. He didn’t know what ti it was, but Beast Vehicles were still arriving one after another below the Jin Hai Grand Hotel. He turned his head to look at the clock on the wall and realized it was already three in the morning. The ti he’d spent dreaming felt like the blink of an eye, yet a whole night had passed in the outside world. Mu Chen gave a self-deprecating smile. "To think I just fell asleep like that."

Feeling the cold, clammy sensation on his skin, Mu Chen frowned. He quickly stripped off his clothes and ducked into the bathroom. A bath after a nap was a very pleasant thing. And because the bathroom was also High Level, the bathwater was heated by a Fire Attribute Spirit Crystal to maintain a constant temperature. Before he knew it, Mu Chen had once again fallen soundly asleep.

Fortunately, he didn’t have that dream again, so Mu Chen put it out of his mind. The next morning, his internal clock woke him up on ti. After drying himself off, Mu Chen changed into a brand-new white robe. He couldn’t help it; he liked the color white, so he didn’t keep clothes of any other color in his Storage Ring.

"Brother Mu Chen! Are you up? Brother Mu Chen!" Xu Fei’s shout ca from outside the main door. Logically, the soundproofing in a High Level hotel like this should have been excellent. However, Xu Fei’s voice wasn’t coming directly from his mouth; he was using his Spiritual Power.

Slinging the Profound Jade Box onto his back, Mu Chen quickly opened the door and also used his Spiritual Power to transmit his voice, "Brother Xu, I’m already up. Give a mont; I’ll go wake up Wan Xian’Er."

Xu Fei, who was outside, was startled the mont Mu Chen finished speaking. He was only able to use this voice transmission thod because his Martial Artist Realm had long since advanced to the Martial Emperor Realm. As a result, his Spiritual Power had reached the Middle Stage of the Kan Realm, granting him this ability.

But from his perspective, Mu Chen’s cultivation was at the Martial Spirit realm at most. He never expected Mu Chen to also be able to use this voice transmission thod. This ant Mu Chen’s Spiritual Power had definitely surpassed the Kan Realm.

’A monster.’ This was Xu Fei’s assessnt of Mu Chen.

After speaking to Xu Fei, Mu Chen turned to go wake Wan Xian’Er. But to his surprise, the seemingly pampered girl was already walking out of her room. Judging by her clean face, Wan Xian’Er had already washed up and gotten ready.

"Is there sothing on my face?" Wan Xian’Er asked, frowning in confusion as she touched her white, jade-like cheek and looked at Mu Chen.

Mu Chen laughed awkwardly. "Er... no. I’m just surprised you’re up so early." To prevent Wan Xian’Er from dwelling on the topic, he quickly said, "Brother Xu is already waiting outside. We should hurry out."

Wan Xian’Er pouted, swallowed the words she was about to say, and followed Mu Chen out the door...
