Now reading: Chapter 69 — The Stadium That Should Not Exist from FOOTBALL GOD SYSTEM: RISE OF A MONARCH, a Sports novel by SegunMayowajohn.

The night after the encounter did not feel like night anymore.

It felt like a waiting room.

A pause between two realities that were slowly starting to overlap.

Sean Nelson stood alone in his dorm again, but nothing about the space felt familiar now.

The walls were the sa.

The bed was the sa.

The silence was the sa.

Yet sothing inside him had shifted permanently.

He could still see the man’s face.

Not clearly in mory like a normal person.

But like an imprint burned into thought itself.

That calm expression.

That unnatural certainty.

That sense of recognition without introduction.

Sean exhaled slowly.

Then the system flickered.

⚽ FOOTBALL GOD SYSTEM

Convergence Stage 1: ACTIVE

New Entity Registered:

"UNKNOWN MONARCH — CLASSIFIED"

Emotional Response Detected:

STABLE... BUT INCREASING

Sean stared at the floating interface.

"Unknown Monarch..."

He repeated it softly.

Not confused.

Not shocked anymore.

Just confirming.

Because deep down, he already knew what that ant.

There were levels in this world he had not even touched yet.

And soone was already standing ahead of him.

Waiting.

A sudden vibration interrupted his thoughts.

His phone lit up.

Unknown number again.

But this ti—

it was not silent.

A single ssage appeared.

No introduction.

No na.

Just coordinates.

And a ti.

03:10 AM

South District Stadium

Gate 7 — Open Access

Sean frowned imdiately.

He didn’t move for a while.

Just stared.

"This is not normal invitation behavior..."

he muttered.

The system responded instantly.

⚽ WARNING

External Monarch Signal proximity confird.

Source: SA ENTITY

Sean’s eyes narrowed.

"So he’s calling now..."

A pause.

"...already?"

The system didn’t answer further.

Which in itself felt like confirmation.

Sean sat down slowly.

Thinking.

Not emotionally.

Strategically.

Everything about this situation had shifted too quickly.

First the archive.

Then Damien.

Then Lucien.

Then the broadcast presence.

And now this.

The hidden Monarch wasn’t just aware.

He was active.

And more importantly—

he was initiating contact on his own terms.

Sean stood up.

"Alright..."

He whispered.

"...I’ll go."

South District — 03:07 AM

The stadium should have been closed.

Security gates locked.

Lights off.

Surveillance active.

But when Sean arrived, nothing was normal.

Gate 7 was already open.

No guards.

No resistance.

Just silence.

The mont he stepped inside—

the atmosphere changed.

Not visually.

Not audibly.

But emotionally.

Like walking into a space that was waiting specifically for him.

DING.

⚽ SYSTEM ALERT

Convergence Zone Entered

Environntal influence detected:

Monarch Residue — HIGH

Sean walked slowly into the empty stadium.

The pitch was illuminated.

But not by stadium floodlights.

By sothing softer.

More controlled.

Like intentional atmosphere design.

And then he saw him.

At the center of the pitch.

Standing alone.

Hands behind his back.

Calm posture.

The sa man.

The Monarch from the bridge.

He turned slightly.

Smiled faintly.

"You ca."

Sean stopped at the edge of the field.

He didn’t step forward yet.

Not out of fear.

Out of awareness.

"Why here?" Sean asked.

The man looked around the empty stadium.

Then answered casually.

"Because football speaks more honestly when there is no audience."

A pause.

"And I wanted to see how you react without pressure."

Sean studied him carefully.

There was sothing unsettling about how relaxed he was.

Not careless.

Controlled relaxation.

Like soone who had already simulated every possible outco.

"You’re testing ," Sean said.

The man nodded slightly.

"Yes."

No hesitation.

No denial.

Just honesty.

Sean exhaled slowly.

"And what exactly are you testing?"

The man turned fully toward him now.

And for the first ti—

his expression sharpened slightly.

"Whether you’re already losing your humanity."

Silence.

That sentence hit differently.

Not dramatic.

Not emotional.

But precise.

Like diagnosis.

Sean stepped forward slightly.

Just one step.

Enough to signal engagent.

Not submission.

Not avoidance.

"I haven’t lost anything," Sean said.

The man smiled faintly again.

"That’s what they all say at your stage."

A pause.

"Right before it becos untrue."

The wind moved across the stadium.

Quiet.

Slow.

Then the man walked slowly toward the halfway line.

Sean followed at distance.

"Do you know what people call you already?" the man asked.

Sean answered without hesitation.

"No."

The man nodded.

"They don’t have a na yet."

A pause.

"So they use descriptions."

He stopped walking.

Turned slightly.

"The Silent Influence."

"The Emotion Breaker."

"The System Anomaly."

"The Controlled Storm."

Sean listened silently.

None of it surprised him.

But all of it confird sothing.

People were already noticing changes around him.

Even without understanding why.

The man continued.

"But none of those matter."

A pause.

"Because they are still trying to define you using normal football logic."

Sean frowned slightly.

"Then how should I be defined?"

The man smiled.

This ti more openly.

"By what happens to the ga when you stop holding back."

Silence again.

Then he added:

"And I don’t think you’ve done that yet."

Sean’s eyes sharpened.

"So you brought here to see that?"

The man shook his head.

"No."

A pause.

"I brought you here to see yourself."

Suddenly—

he lifted his hand slightly.

And the stadium lights shifted.

Not brighter.

Not dimr.

But reorganized.

Like atmosphere recalibration.

Sean’s instincts imdiately triggered.

⚽ SYSTEM ALERT

External Influence Field Detected

Source: UNKNOWN MONARCH

The pitch beneath them subtly changed feeling.

Not physically.

But perceptually.

Space felt tighter.

Ti felt slower.

Sean realized sothing imdiately.

"This isn’t normal perception..."

he muttered.

The man nodded.

"No."

A pause.

"This is how I experience football."

Sean’s expression tightened slightly.

"You manipulate perception?"

The man corrected calmly.

"I don’t manipulate it."

A pause.

"I stabilize it."

That answer made Sean pause.

Because it wasn’t arrogant.

It was structural.

Like describing physics.

The man began walking again.

"This is why they fear Monarchs."

A pause.

"Not because we are stronger."

"But because reality behaves differently around us."

Sean followed slowly.

"And you think I’m becoming like that?"

The man didn’t answer imdiately.

He stopped at the center circle again.

Looked down at it.

Then finally spoke.

"I think you are already halfway there."

Sean felt sothing tighten in his chest.

Not fear.

Recognition.

Because lately—

he had felt changes he could not explain.

Monts where ti slowed during decision-making.

Monts where opponents reacted slightly too late.

Monts where emotional flow around matches felt... adjustable.

The man looked up at him again.

"But you’re resisting it."

A pause.

"Unconsciously."

Sean frowned.

"Why would I resist it?"

The man tilted his head slightly.

"Because part of you still believes football is supposed to feel human."

Silence.

That sentence stayed longer than the others.

Sean finally said quietly:

"And you don’t?"

The man smiled faintly again.

"I stopped believing that when I understood what football actually is."

He turned slightly toward the empty stadium seats.

"It’s not a sport."

A pause.

"It’s emotional architecture."

Sean narrowed his eyes.

"Emotional architecture?"

The man nodded.

"Yes."

He pointed slightly toward the field.

"Every pass... every movent... every decision..."

A pause.

"...it builds emotional reactions in people watching."

He turned back to Sean.

"And Monarchs don’t play inside that system."

"They reshape it."

Sean stayed silent.

Processing.

Then he asked:

"And what do you want from ?"

The man smiled again.

But this ti—

it felt different.

More serious.

Less playful.

"I want to see if you will break it..."

Pause.

"...or beco its next evolution."

Suddenly—

a ball rolled slowly onto the pitch between them.

No one kicked it.

No visible source.

It simply appeared.

The man looked at it.

Then at Sean.

"Show sothing real."

The stadium went silent.

Even the wind felt like it paused.

Sean stared at the ball.

Then slowly walked forward.

Not rushing.

Not hesitating.

Just moving.

And for the first ti—

he felt it.

Not system notification.

Not external pressure.

But internal alignnt.

Sothing inside him responding to the presence ahead.

⚽ SYSTEM WARNING

Monarch Resonance Matching Increasing

Sean stopped just behind the ball.

Then looked up.

And said quietly:

"If I do this..."

A pause.

"...there’s no going back, is there?"

The man smiled faintly.

"No."

A pause.

"But there never was."

Silence.

Sean exhaled once.

Then placed his foot beside the ball.

The air around the stadium shifted slightly.

Not visibly.

But emotionally.

Like sothing inside reality had begun to lean forward in anticipation.

And the man in front of him—

for the first ti—

stopped smiling completely.

Because he felt it too.

Sean Nelson was no longer just reacting.

He was beginning to respond as sothing else entirely.
