Sol stayed there for a long mont, the rhythmic rise and fall of Kira’s chest against his chest acting as his only tether to the present. His eyes traced the intricate carvings on the walls, his mind a rare, quiet void. Eventually, the pragmatic self within him nudged the lover aside. The Preparedness for the coming storm couldn’t be ignored forever.

"You’re right," Sol murmured, his voice a low, gravelly vibration in the quiet. "We definitely need that wash."

"Exactly," Kira smiled, matching his energy. "Now, get in the basin. We both need to wash the night off before soone cos knocking."

...

Getting up was a slow, agonizingly comfortable process. Their bodies felt heavy, saturated with a deep exhaustion that was simultaneously revitalizing. As they moved toward the large stone washbasin in the corner, the dosticity of the scene felt like a temporary sanctuary.

Despite her refusal, he pulled her together with him.

The water was frigid, a sharp shock that should have made them shiver, but the furnace-like heat their bodies were still radiating kept the chill at bay.

Sol didn’t just help, he took charge, using a soft cloth to gently wipe away the sweat and the drying evidence of their night. He was careful, almost reverent, as he cleaned the marks he had left... the blooming purplish bruises on her hips and the bite marks on her neck.

Kira, for her part, wasn’t content to just be pampered. She splashed a handful of water at his face, her golden feline eyes sparkling with a mischievous light that Sol hadn’t seen before.

"Stop looking at like I’m a broken relic, Sol," she teased, her voice regaining its sharp, silken edge. "I told you, I’m a warrior. These marks? They’re just... commorative."

Sol caught her hand before she could splash him again, pulling her in for a quick, soapy kiss. "Commorative? I’ll have to rember that one. But if we’re keeping a tally, your nails definitely left so ’commorative’ lines on my back that might take a few days to heal."

"It’s your fault for being so good, who knew this could be so enjoyable, I have heard from others, and they all say it’s just a boring short encounter, unlike you monster, who kept going for whole night."

"Well, what can I say, I’m just so good, and who asked you to be so beautiful, I couldn’t control myself."

"You’re really going to be the death of ," Kira murmured, her eyes shining with a mixture of exhaustion and profound affection as she wrung out a cloth. "If the enemies don’t kill , your stamina certainly will."

Sol let out a low chuckle, his fingers tracing the line of her jaw. "I think you’re more resilient than you give yourself credit for, Kira."

As they cleaned the sweat and evidence of their night from each other’s skin, the atmosphere was thick with a new kind of intimacy... one that didn’t require the frantic, desperate masks of the previous night.

There was a bit of playful splashing, a few stolen, lingering kisses, and a fair share of lighthearted teasing. Sol found himself admiring the way the water beaded on Kira’s scarred, athletic skin, while she playfully swatted his hands away whenever they wandered too far from the task of cleaning.

Kira’s earlier embarrassnt had faded into a comfortable, feral sort of intimacy. She teased him about his "monstrous" stamina while he retaliated by teasing her about the way she had shouted his na in the dark.

Despite the looming shadow of the Zerith-Marauder coalition, for these few monts, they were just two people enjoying the simple heat of each other’s presence.

They dressed with a synchronized efficiency that spoke of their growing bond. Kira pulled on a fresh set of leathers, her movents fluid and practiced. As she tied back her chestnut hair into a tight, practical braid, Sol reached for his own tunic, but paused, his mind flashing back to the materials he’d secured from his first true hunts in this world.

"The materials I gave you," Sol said, his tone shifting back to the tactical. "The Great Badger’s hide and the Dreadwing’s wings. I gave them to you when I first stepped out of that ravine and rember you saying you’d sent them to be processed."

Kira paused, tying a leather strap around her waist. She looked at him, her stormy eyes bright with an appreciative glint. "I haven’t forgotten. I gave them to our finest craftsman the mont you handed them over. He’s been working day and night, likely cursing your na for the sheer difficulty of the materials. But he’s the best. They should have been finished by now. Let’s go and see together."

Sol nodded, grabbing his Void-Oak spear from the corner. The petrified wood felt familiar and lethal in his grip. He followed Kira out of the quarters, his hand catching hers as they stepped onto the sweeping wooden ramps of the Feline Spire.

The atmosphere in the Veynar settlent was a jarring contrast to the heat of his bedroom. The air was thick with the scent of burning pitch and sharpening stones. Warriors moved in grim, silent rows, their knuckles white on their spear-shafts. The elders were scurrying between halls with grim faces, and the common folk moved with a frantic, quiet urgency.

The tribe was a bowstring stretched to the snapping point.

Yet, despite the looming apocalypse, Sol found himself feeling remarkably light. The sun, nearly at its noon peak, seed to shine with a renewed, crystalline clarity, the colors of the jungle more vivid, Even the birds in the Heartwood’s upper branches were more active, their calls sharp and piercing.

"Even the world seems... different today," Sol remarked, his thumb tracing the back of Kira’s hand. "Brighter. More alive."

Kira glanced at him, a playful smirk touching her lips. "Or maybe it’s just because it’s almost noon and you finally decided to go out."

"Maybe," Sol chuckled, squeezing her hand. "But I’ll take it."

...

They navigated the winding paths of the Great Heartwood, descending toward the industrial ring where the heat of the forges t the earthy scent of the tanning pits. The air here slls of wood smoke, tanning resins, and the sharp, tallic tang of ground bone.

Kira led him to a workshop tucked into a massive, ancient hollowed-out root system.
