Chapter 1272: Chapter 1270: Loss of Image (14)

“…You treated her?”

In that instant, Natalie nearly lost control of her voice.

But after realizing it, she imdiately stepped into the room and closed the door behind her.

“Your statent is sowhat illogical. The Winslow family invited here to treat an illness in the first place. What’s strange about curing a patient?”

Looking at Natalie’s clenched fists, which seed ready to strike any mont, Fu Qian remained unperturbed as he offered his comntary.

“This… You’re spouting nonsense. How could you possibly treat that kind of contamination?”

Natalie ultimately lacked the courage to act, instead calming herself rapidly while searching for flaws in Fu Qian’s words.

“If I couldn’t treat it, why would I have been invited?”

But how could she possibly contend with him about such matters? Fu Qian countered with a smile.

“Miss Winslow’s case was indeed rather tricky, so I spent quite so effort on the diagnosis. Thankfully, her recovery is progressing quite ideally.”

Employing his overly domineering logic, Fu Qian left Natalie speechless as he calmly recounted tonight’s journey toward health.

“I’m fairly confident that she will be fully recovered by dawn.”

So there was a problem initially, but now it’s resolved?

Absolutely absurd!

Natalie’s expression could now be described as contorted, utterly unwilling to accept such a preposterous outco.

Of course, her rejection carried no aning whatsoever.

“Thank you for bringing here. It’s getting late; Miss Natalie, you may go rest now.”

Fu Qian didn’t even bother glancing at her again. He walked behind the seat where he had been sitting earlier and carefully browsed Winslow’s collection.

“Also, don’t worry, I will strictly keep our earlier conversation confidential.”

“Ha… Aren’t you afraid that I won’t keep it confidential?”

Natalie, however, wasn’t planning to leave so easily. She sneered coldly in threat.

“I’m not afraid.”

Fu Qian replied without even turning his head. He selected his target while speaking, then casually took out a pair of pliers and effortlessly removed the wooden cork from a bottle.

To a doctor who operated in the gray areas, this sort of threat was utterly powerless.

The pliers were, of course, taken from his dical kit. Earlier, while organizing it, he had thought they would be perfect for opening the bottle, so he had slipped them into his pocket.

After sniffing the aroma, Fu Qian sat back in his old spot with satisfaction.

And just as expected, a dejected Natalie, having failed with her threat, ultimately didn’t muster the courage to act and quietly left.

A seemingly simple and straightforward task had turned out to be surprisingly interesting.

Pouring himself a glass, Fu Qian silently waited in the darkness.

Of course, Natalie hadn’t taken his suggestion to rest.

She clearly didn’t believe his explanation, just as Fu Qian didn’t believe her story of vengeance.

The reason he had just urged her to leave was actually quite simple. Whatever her motives, her loathing was undeniably sincere.

Such an intense emotion shouldn’t go to waste. Hopefully, his earlier provocations would inspire her to bring about more surprises.

As for what was happening with Jane, even though it seed to stem from so abandoned pawn in the mists, it had now disappeared without a trace.

But Fu Qian was fairly confident he would find it soon.

After all, the last ti he ca here to rest, good news had arrived promptly.

“Doctor.”

As it turned out, experience sotis proved quite valuable.

Fu Qian hadn’t even finished his glass when a familiar voice rushed in.

Yet this ti, it was Mr. Luo who pushed the door open, and his emotions were visibly not as exuberant as before.

To be precise, they were clearly filled with anxiety.

“I’m sorry to disturb your rest, but it seems Jane’s condition has changed again. Could you co take a look?”

“Certainly.”

Fu Qian rose without hesitation, signaling that they could head out.

Despite his anxiety, Mr. Luo did not speak with hostility or dissatisfaction.

This was a man who clearly understood the bigger picture and refrained from taking out his frustration on the dical staff.

“Please, I implore you.”

Even the previously resolute Mrs. Winslow now showed no trace of resentnt toward the course of action deviating from her expectations.

The mont Fu Qian entered the room, she stood up and bowed sincerely.

“There’s no need to be nervous. Let take a look,”

Fu Qian responded with a slight nod to comfort the family before walking directly to Jane’s bedside.

The latter was curled up in bed, her knees drawn to her chest, clearly dispirited.

When she saw Fu Qian approach, she bit her lip without speaking and extended a bare foot from underneath the blanket.

The sight was indeed striking enough to justify the Winslow couple’s alarm.

Jane’s nightgown was lifted, revealing a left foot that moved freely, yet its flesh and bone were nearly transparent—the bright red blood vessels within clearly visible.

This bizarre phenonon extended upwards to her slender calf.

Most striking of all were the abnormal vascular patterns, distributed in an obviously illogical manner.

No matter the length or thickness, every vein spiraled in a specific direction, converging into an irregular whirlpool.

Fu Qian examined the scene intently, even scrutinizing the contorted ends as though admiring a unique piece of art.

“Is it the sa on the other foot?”

After a mont, he nodded and asked.

“How did you know?”

The patient and her family were visibly startled.

Before Fu Qian could respond, Jane lifted the blanket to reveal her right leg.

This side was in an even worse state. The transparency had extended past the knee.

The vascular whirlpool pattern was just as pronounced here.

“Incomplete. The left foot alone is clearly missing parts—like an unfinished painting.”

As he explained, Fu Qian looked Jane over briefly before indicating that she could cover herself again with the blanket.

“No other areas?”

The question was directed at the Winslow couple. Despite their visible anxiety, they had remained remarkably composed earlier.

“No.”

Mrs. Winslow shook her head emphatically.

“When did you first notice the change?”

“Just now. When Jane spoke, I suddenly realized her voice had returned. At first, I was overjoyed, but then I noticed sothing was wrong.”

“Her voice has indeed returned.”

This was sothing Fu Qian acknowledged.

From the very mont Jane uttered her first syllable earlier, he had already discerned her bodily transformation—though without an understandable cause. The force that had driven her body to regress toward its initial state was now gone.

In other words, Miss Winslow no longer had to worry about reverting into a fertilized egg.

However, this newly erged phenonon was undoubtedly more visually alarming.

This case’s target could truly be described as ill-fated.

“When you say ‘just now,’ do you an when you returned?”

Amid his musings, Fu Qian casually asked again.

“…How did you know I went out?”

This question startled Mrs. Winslow.

Oh, please, why else would I have cooperated so willingly?
