Chapter 1683: Chapter 1678: Three People Drinking Tea

“What brings you here?”

A mont later, at the Night Watchn Base, in the chief’s office with a superb view, its owner looked over with a wary expression.

Chief Yuan, after several days apart, appeared even more impressive than before.

Clearly, the latter half of her vacation in the Night Holy City was quite enjoyable.

And unsurprisingly, the outfit she wore was the sa one she had admired in the store window.

So things are bound by the law of attraction; even if history didn’t carry it through, she still acquired the ensemble once more.

One could easily imagine that before his arrival, she was enjoying this quiet afternoon in the good mood brought by her new outfit.

“Weren’t you the one who invited for tea?”

Facing Yuan Shan’s widened eyes, Fu Qian, with no self-awareness of disrupting another’s peace, casually plopped down and even retorted.

“But didn’t you co a bit too fast?”

She did not deny leaving a ssage, but Yuan Shan was evidently not as easily fooled.

The experience in the Night Holy City was sowhat surreal; facing this Chief Poison Master, who now surpassed her by a phase, her emotions were quite complex at first.

“Don’t tell , when soone delivered the ssage, you were actually asleep upstairs.”

However, the tone and manner of the other party instantly pulled her back to the tumultuous tis in Shangjing, relaxing her emotions, and she even retorted unreservedly.

“Of course not, I just arrived too. How is Old Master Henry?”

Fu Qian smiled undiminished, firmly denying that he was the kind of businessman who randomly takes breaks.

From Yuan Shan’s words, it seed she only arrived a few hours earlier than he did.

“He’s doing well… already continuing to enjoy his retirent life.”

Blinking, Yuan Shan’s expression was slightly troubled, seemingly unable to articulate her teacher’s actions before leaving.

“Moreover, thank you for your concern; he also specifically asked to apologize for his initial rude behavior.”

“No problem, it’s not Old Master’s fault; anyone would find my behavior problematic.”

Facing Yuan Shan’s seriousness, Fu Qian waved his hand amiably, candidly admitting the questionable nature of his actions.

“As long as you know. I genuinely can’t understand what’s going through your mind, doing that in front of a group of Night Watchn… Was it so kind of special ritual requirent?”

True to his self-awareness, Yuan Shan seed completely relieved, beginning a lant like an unfortunate woman.

“Even if it were so, did you consider the risks involved? You could at least give a heads up.”

Clearly, after his departure, Old Master Henry had given his beloved disciple a brief analysis of the situation.

And with a tinge of disdain.

“Additionally, he wanted to convey his gratitude for your continual support to the Night Watchn.”

The earlier brief exchange had evidently given Old Master Henry new insights and deep concerns about his disciple’s record of achievents in Shangjing.

It’s human nature; overly treacherous individuals are always t with caution, even if he’s proven himself a loyal citizen.

“That’s what a responsible citizen should do,”

Fu Qian responded kindly, while contemplating.

“…Besides, rest assured, the teacher specifically promised that only the two of us would know about this incident.”

Despite the talk of responsibility, Yuan Shan found it hard to fully believe, although Fu Qian’s words gave no indication of preparing to retire, which put her at ease.

No other way; responsible citizens are quite powerful, making others reliant to the point where their departure would lead to undeniable disappointnt.

“Thank you very much.”

“…What kind of tea would you like?”

“Anything is fine.”

“It’s quite tasty.”

Evidently, even though Chief Yuan extended the invitation, she wasn’t skilled in tea-making.

In the end, it was her much-grown secretary, Xiao Ming, who answered the call, perford a series of operations, and quietly exited, leaving a lingering fragrance of tea.

And Fu Qian, not holding a grudge over the previous minor unpleasantness, honestly gave a good review.

“Thanks, but are you sure you just ca here for tea—”

Chief Yuan accepted the praise without embarrassnt, though her doubts were clearly not entirely dispelled.

“Chief.”

Unfortunately, she didn’t even finish asking before Xiao Ming returned to interrupt.

“Ms. Wen Li is here to visit; she’s outside now.”

Aha—

In that mont, Yuan Shan looked almost startled, her eyes widening unprecedentedly, staring intently at Fu Qian.

“Is this the reason you ca here?”

“Yes, but she doesn’t know I’m here.”

Fu Qian’s candor continued.

“…Invite her in.”

Yuan Shan, having no temper left for the chief strategist and undoubtedly intrigued by his words, sighed and signaled to Xiao Mingyue.

“So do you know why Wen Li is here?”

Before the person in question even arrived, she directly consulted Fu Qian.

“I do. She’s in trouble and needs the Night Watchn’s help.”

Strategist Fu naturally answered without hesitation.

“Not even you can help her?”

Clearly shocked, Yuan Shan, well-aware of Fu Qian and Wen Li’s relationship, could hardly imagine such a favor after all, one that money could hardly describe.

It was hard to imagine what could trouble him enough to seek Night Watchn’s intervention.

“Yes.”

Fu Qian nodded nonetheless.

“Why?”

“Because the trouble cos from the Night Watchn.”

“What’s going on? Which Night Watchman?”

The news brought by Fu Qian, while indeed shocking, was not sothing Yuan Shan would allow herself to dwell on excessively, considering the person involved was on the way.

In most cases, she didn’t demonstrate excessive diligence, but certain beliefs were clearly ingrained, her gaze sharp as a sword.

“Can you really not guess who it is? Have you not learned anything about Wen Li’s experiences before coming to Shangjing?”

Fu Qian glanced at her, unambiguously.

“Even if the information left behind is so sparse as to be unworthy of attention below the Middle Tier, and your colleagues’ attitudes towards this special talent, did you never find it unusual?”

Pressing her lips without responding, her reaction spoke volus.

The words of Fu Qian had clearly struck a chord with Yuan Shan.

This ti, however, she didn’t rush to confirm more, as soon enough, a knock at the door sounded.

“Hello, Chief Yuan.”

After days apart, Wen Li’s deanor was still calm, even having deliberately changed into an outfit for her outing, and politely greeted imdiately upon entry.

“Mr. Fang.”

As her gaze landed on Fu Qian, her expression relaxed even further.
