No need to imagine anymore.

The two people inside and outside the doorway are undoubtedly the focus of attention in the dark night.

And within just one exchange, their conversation—so oblivious to others—offers a wealth of information.

Invited to the house to see a cat that died decades ago?

As soone with a vivid imagination, Fu Qian can easily envision the heart-fluttering youths these two once were.

And perhaps that cat could even perform a backflip.

What? The old man’s age doesn’t match; he seems much older?

Didn’t notice Lady Lucy’s initial exclamation of surprise upon recognition?

Clearly, in her eyes, the old man’s appearance is abnormal.

Considering the identity of the Transcendent, a brief pause of breath, excessive aging isn’t too surprising.

In short, it seems the old man’s first stop is to find a lover from his youth.

Even decades have passed and the other person really hasn’t moved.

Had he already investigated this situation, or was it pure luck?

Reasonably, the forr seems more likely, but the old man didn’t even know the motel on the way had closed, leading to a breakdown halfway.

Of course, either way, it’s a touching scene of reunion after a drifting life—if Lucy’s family has no objections.

"Who are you? What are you doing here?"

From Fu Qian’s position, as ntioned earlier, you can see a long table filled with food, roughly estimated to be enough for ten people.

In fact, there are close to ten spectators around the dining table, young and old, all staring this way, dumbfounded.

It’s truly a fortunate arrival, not only is Lucy at ho, but it also seems so family gathering is ongoing.

And among them, a burly man, about Lucy’s age, finally stands up showing his unwelcoming stance.

...

This one should be "from Lucy’s family."

From where he sits, Fu Qian had already speculated.

Coupled with his current tone and deanor, his identity is already apparent.

"I don’t know...we haven’t seen each other in decades."

His words also wake Lucy from her stupor, who turns back in a fluster to explain.

"There’s nothing you’re looking for here, you should leave quickly."

Without waiting for others to speak, Lucy imdiately looks at Cardon, urging softly.

She even subconsciously moves closer to the door, seemingly not wanting Cardon to enter and disturb the peace.

This is actually a very normal reaction.

Seated in a pri viewing position, Fu Qian doesn’t rush to intervene and deeply understands Lucy’s actions.

People often dramatize their own lives, moved by long-term reunions, late confessions, and Lucy being overly heartless due to lack of courage.

But does your sense of emotion an others must feel the sa?

At so point many years ago, soone held affection for you, but they have no obligation to soothe your regrets years later—especially after rejection.

You could clearly hear in their earlier conversation that Lady Lucy once extended an invitation, which was politely declined by Cardon, ultimately never becoming a reality for two.

When life nears its end, it’s normal to have so reflection on life.

Even if truly seeking out soone, it might be comnded for strong initiative, but ultimately, being chased away by the whole family isn’t sothing to complain about.

...

"I believe you."

Especially as the couple seems harmonious.

Upon hearing the explanation, Lucy’s family surprisingly suppresses their emotions, unwilling to embarrass his wife too much.

"But this guy needs to leave...imdiately!"

However, he’s not as polite to Cardon, staring intently at the old man outside the door, as he speaks, even stepping forward.

"I know the cat is dead...it’s okay."

Unfortunately, the unwelco visitor’s eyes are vacant, completely ignoring him.

Nodding afterward, Cardon emphasizes Lucy’s words, knowing in advance that it wouldn’t be a problem.

"I rember you ntioned your bedroom is upstairs, first door on the left?"

Not just that, his gaze falls on a corner of the staircase, casually confirming.

Clearly, there’s been much repair, but the traces of ti remain frozen upon it.

I wonder if such scenes have appeared in the dreams of young people multiple tis.

"I need you to leave...Mr. Cardon."

No ti to marvel at life, as the old man’s inquiry provokes Lucy’s family’s fury reaching its peak.

Not only veins visibly pulsing on his face but also implicating Fu Qian next to him.

His gaze is fierce, seemingly questioning why Fu doesn’t drag this madman away.

"Just call Anke."

Fu Qian wouldn’t mind and continues to smile, maintaining a superb attitude.

Thunk!

This neglectful stance finally breaks Lucy’s family’s last psychological defense, slamming the door.

But the sound seems slightly off; the heavy wooden door directly hits Cardon who happened to take a step forward.

...

"Relax...just relax."

A dull thud, the old man is practically staggered.

In the midst of screams, Cardon surprisingly steps forward, passing the Virtuous Couple and enters the house.

At the long table, the youngest diner is only three or four years old. The little boy with sparse hair watches without crying.

Cardon ets his gaze, gestures reassuringly, signaling everyone not to worry.

After speaking, he ignores the crowd’s reaction, heading directly towards the stairs.

"Now that’s Wendy’s room..."

Only at this mont does Lady Lucy seem to regain her senses, reminding him that things have long changed.

Unfortunately, her voice is too soft, drowned out by the creaking of the steps.

"He shouldn’t cause any trouble... need to go in and wait?"

Luckily, Fu Qian, closer, casually reassures her not to worry, then confirms with a smile.

...

The atmosphere is eerie, the originally peaceful family gathering suddenly feels shattered.

You...

Lucy’s family evidently wants to replicate the earlier action, slamming the door on Fu’s face.

But just after a few breaths of stalemate, he astonishingly turns away and walks back to the table, not even closing the door completely.

"Please co in...Anke."

And the first to break the silence is Lucy, looking lost, ultimately extending an invitation to Fu Qian.

Truly a family that understands the retreat principle of happiness.

When no one pulls the old man down from the stairs, Fu Qian isn’t surprised by such a result.

Easy to invite a god, hard to send away; if he, as a companion, doesn’t enter, later if the one upstairs insists on staying, who will bring him down?
