Now reading: Chapter 2327 - 2322: The List (9) from Facing an Ancient God for a Year, a Supernatural novel by Journey to the West's Revolver.

The place Mr. Cardon Sr. chose for his bucket list, to be honest, seed both unexpected and reasonable when you look at it from the front.

Generally speaking, the regrets one has when they’re nearing the end often relate to their younger years.

It’s common to want to visit one’s hotown or sothing similar at such tis.

Yet the place Mr. Cardon Sr. chose was rely a spot he had briefly stayed at once before.

Fortunately, the power of youthful emotions and nostalgia can be strong enough to sowhat explain it.

It could even be considered fate that Lucy, though much changed over the years, still remained at this spot.

In short, leaving like this could be considered a good story.

But the place Mr. Cardon Sr. chose to rest gave everything an oddly different flavor.

True, the car was low on gas and couldn’t go far, and Cardon sitting behind him was undoubtedly aware of this.

Even with such concerns, there were many places to refuel, like the roadside shop from before.

So what if it was closed? Earlier, in front of Lucy’s family, Cardon clearly didn’t mind pulling out a gun, so why would a free purchase be a concern?

Overall, Fu Qian preferred interpreting Mr. Cardon’s current actions as starting the second item on his list.

That’s also why he guessed this place might have once been where he and his father stayed.

We can only say that this unique journey seems to have left a bold mark on Mr. Cardon Sr.’s life—so what kind of mark is it?

The old man had been lying there for a while, completely motionless, reminding one of the first ti they saw him.

Fu Qian, listening to the elder, kept watching this scene without hurrying to get out of the car.

The most reassuring thing was that, whether intentionally or not, the old man hadn’t drawn the curtains.

Click!

Fu Qian turned off the car, enveloping the world in complete silence.

Cardon, however, remained unresponsive to this action.

...

From a technical standpoint, this place’s feng shui wasn’t bad. Was there a special reason it was now in such a state?

Ti ticked by slowly, and faced with this rare tranquil mont during the task, Fu Qian made no waste of it, quietly enjoying it instead.

He even took a mont to observe the stars while diagnosing the closed motel called "Distant View."

Indeed, although not professional, in those unregulated years, Fu Qian had dabbled in feng shui and geomancy.

Not for acquiring another skill, but rely out of curiosity about its logical system.

The conclusion was that this place scored well; even if it didn’t prosper, it shouldn’t have been so desolate—could it be the clock malfunction caused fortune to stagnate and prosperity to falter?

Fu Qian’s gaze eventually settled on the rooftop of the building.

It was an unrefined clock face, yet it clearly had timing functions.

Broken neon lights bordered its edge, and above it was even a weather vane.

A proper clock tower for a motel seems extravagant and was likely more of a visual landmark, with its accuracy questionable.

Without proper guidance, it probably fell into disrepair after a breakdown, and now the hour hand was missing.

But that’s okay; he had checked the ti with Lucy’s family earlier.

Fu Qian was confident that even if this big clock were working, its accuracy would differ from his own.

And now, it was nearing midnight—it’s ti.

At a certain mont, Fu Qian expressed that if the clock was running, the midnight chi would have rung.

Of course, if the motel staff had even a bit of sense, they would have muted it.

Yet in this utter silence, Cardon seed to hear the clock’s chis.

The body, lying straight in the shadow, opened its eyes at that mont.

Then it sat up abruptly.

...

So it wasn’t just for lodging?

One has to admit that this sudden change fits well with the scene.

Watching Cardon’s actions, Fu Qian still wasn’t in a rush to get out but quietly gave a thumbs up.

The dying man, the dead building, amidst the decay, seed alive again at this mont—because the guest awoke.

In his movents, there wasn’t any trace of sleepwalking dullness, as if Cardon were reenacting a scene once occurring in this structure.

Not only did he get up with the "chi," but he even seriously took a coat from the side, only putting it on before opening the door and walking out.

Click!

A few breaths later, the room next to the left opened slowly.

Although the window of the room on this side even had half a curtain drawn, its more direct position allowed a clear view inside.

More tidy than the adjacent room, even the mattress was positioned correctly, though covered with the sa mold as outside walls.

Cardon seed unconcerned, quickly reaching the bedside, even picking up a pillow from the floor as if intending to lie down comfortably—but he didn’t.

This ti he rely stood by the bed, silently bowing his head, seemingly watching soone already lying there.

Thud!

Then, in the next mont, he pressed the pillow down decisively.

...

Such a classic move.

For Fu Qian, the change may be sudden, but the silent-film-level expressiveness is remarkable.

If soone really lay there, the pillow pressing would directly be on their head.

And Cardon’s action was evidently powerful enough to pin anyone there.

"What’s wrong with you?"

This was just the start, and Cardon’s opponentless performance was equally vivid.

After maintaining the pose for a while, he leaned down and gently inquired.

The voice remained steady yet conveyed care towards the person on the bed.

"You don’t look well, did sothing happen... or did you eat sothing?"

But he received no response, so after a brief pause, he guessed about the other’s situation again.

"I know you told to stay in my room, but I heard strange noises..."

Being ignored once more, Cardon seed to perceive the person’s displeasure, choosing to justify his actions.

"You’re right, I did make so friends; this place is more interesting than I thought... except for what they eat.

"You really don’t look well, as if sothing’s about to crawl out of you, are you sure you don’t need to see a doctor—"

At a certain point, the pillow in Cardon’s hands seed to relax slightly, and he stood a little straighter.

"Almost forgot, you yourself are a doctor."
