Chapter 590: Chapter 590: Uproar (14)_1 Chapter 590: Chapter 590: Uproar (14)_1 “Speaking of Hamadus, although He is just a lesser Divine Being, He’s quite powerful in the stories.”

Unbeknownst to Veil, an enthusiastic lover of her sister’s stories, she was still eagerly discussing the plot.

“It’s said that the War God’s wife fell hopelessly in love with Him because of His strong blue muscles.”

“And as the God of Hubbub, the roars emitted by Hamadus could not only destroy His enemies but even tear apart the seas, and His followers would receive the sa gifts.”

“If He’s that powerful, why is He still a lesser god?”

At this point, Riet raised her objection again.

“I actually know this.”

Her tone was casual, but Veil was clearly satisfied that her sister was willing to engage with her.

“Because it’s said that He was born from the battles between the War God and evil demons, and since the War God has existed since the Deep Sea Era, He is theoretically much younger.”

“…Okay.”

Riet, who was clearly not familiar with mythological references, fell silent for a while.

“So, in that era, one just needed to believe in Divine Beings to gain power, right?”

The tone of this sentence was hesitant and full of longing, clearly indicating her focus of interest.

“… According to the legends, yes.”

Understanding why her sister would ask such a question, Veil hesitated for a mont but still affird her sister’s guess.

“That era also saw Mortals with Transcendent powers, but the only righteous path to obtain them was through the belief in different Divine Beings.”

“The more devout and steadfast the belief, the stronger the blessings obtained.”

“That does sound much simpler.”

Riet’s voice carried an unmistakable sigh.

“I kind of wish I lived in that era.”

“Don’t think of it as so wonderful; that era had its cruelties as well.”

Veil clearly understood her sister’s regret.

“And if we really went back to the Mythic Era, I would definitely be considered a heretic.”

“Because any Transcendent power obtained not through blessings was absolutely heretical at that ti.”

“Whether it was through Innate Awakening, cultivation, or even if there was a concept of cultivation at that ti, I’m not sure.”

“By your account, does that an all Divine Beings were naturally powerful?”

Despite lacking confidence, Riet couldn’t help but argue.

“Yes, both Divine Beings and Evil Demons were naturally powerful.”

Veil nodded affirmatively with certainty.

“That is what the to I read said.”

The next mont, she smiled, patting her sister on the head.

“But don’t dwell too much on this point; in the end, it’s just mythology.”

“And that era in the legends had passed over a thousand years ago.”

“In these thousand years, humanity has already proven that the boundary between humans and gods isn’t that rigid and impregnable.”

Yeah!

Riet, after a long silence, exhaled and seed sowhat relieved.

“I’ve never heard you speak of these things before… But if the gods really were as powerful as they’re described, how did the Mythic Era co to an end?”

“Kid, you shouldn’t be so averse to learning!”

Seeing her sister’s reaction, Veil looked quite pleased and even jokingly knocked on her head.

“If you had earnestly studied the origins of the Night Watchman, it is all clearly explained.”

“Firstly, the Mythic Era ca to an abrupt end, due to an unprecedented catastrophe.”

“It’s said that when the catastrophe struck, the most noticeable thing was that both the sun and the moon disappeared, leaving only the stars in the sky, and this situation lasted for several weeks.”

“In the face of such calamity, not only the followers of the sun and the moon but all the worshippers of the Divine Beings found themselves ‘without’ their gods’ responses.”

“No matter how they prayed, they received no help whatsoever.”

“Ultimately, this disaster led to innurable human casualties.”

“Even until today, many of the Forbidden Areas you see are remnants of that cataclysm.”

“And, ultimately, a portion of the abandoned believers chose to forsake the Divine Beings, relying on themselves to shelter humanity through the darkness.”

“And when the sun reappeared, so of them ford the very first Night Watchn.”

“Despair led to disillusionnt; from that mont on, all devotion crumbled, and the Mythic Era inevitably ca to an end.”

“Of course, so people occasionally claim to still receive responses from the Divine Beings, but sadly, since the invention of the steam engine, it seems to have beco less and less common.”

“So that’s how it is…”

Having listened to her sister’s description, Riet couldn’t help but murmur to herself.

So that’s how it is.

Having secretly listened to Veil’s account, Fu Qian also seed to be deep in thought.

Though he had a rough understanding before, so of the content ntioned by Veil was clearly secret.

In the Mythic Era, believers gained strength through their faith in the Divine Beings.

The more devout, the more powerful.

While this might not an much to others, Fu Qian couldn’t help but think of sothing.

Sinners, Angels—he had already encountered at least two special beings before, and the way they acquired power felt sowhat similar, though certainly much simpler in comparison.

There was no need for prayer or anything of the sort, just the establishnt of a pact through a special “posture.”

Most importantly, in his mission summary, this thod was explicitly identified as a trap on the path to divinity.

If that was how it was during the Mythic Era… one had to admit, the scenario was quite intriguing.

All in all, today turned out to have unexpected gains.

Appreciating art really can improve one’s skill in “posture” indeed!

Fu Qian felt quite satisfied at the mont.

However, the urgent task at hand was still to figure out why the Night Watchn were on such high alert.

So…

The next mont, Fu Qian stood up and walked unhurriedly towards the Veil sisters.

The conversation between Veil and her sister almost instantly ceased; although the lighting was dim, the perception of a Transcendent was still incredibly sharp.

At the sa ti, Fu Qian could feel the Demigod locking onto him in an instant.

Unfortunately for one who had been through significant events, the scrutiny of a Demigod was almost immunizing.

‘Good day to you, ladies!'”

The next mont, under Veil’s wary gaze, Fu Qian sat down beside them and greeted them with a smile.

Though his expression was hidden by a mask, Fu Qian firmly believed that one should be congruent inside and out.

“I’m sorry…do I know you?”

An old man wearing a mask suddenly approaching to strike up a conversation undoubtedly triggered Veil’s wariness.

“You probably don’t recognize … but your sister does.”

As he spoke, Fu Qian glanced at Riet nearby, his smile undiminished.

‘You…who are you?'”

The latter clearly was taken aback and seed flustered.

“I used to be a Lu… before I found my True Self.”

As Fu Qian spoke, he gently touched his right hand.

“You are—”

In that instant, Riet seed to realize sothing and nearly lost control of her volu.

“I am.”

Fu Qian nodded his head.

Before he had stood up, he had already adjusted the features beneath his mask to resemble those of Old Master Lu Ming.

After all, one should be congruent inside and out.
