Now reading: Chapter 124 - 98: The Meteorite Monster Beneath the Sea! (Pa from Facing the Apocalypse with My Other Selves, a Sci-fi novel by Rusty Runes.

Just because you ignore the problem, doesn’t an it ceases to exist.

The teorite in the ocean—now that we know of its existence, we have to deal with it no matter what. Otherwise, it’s a ticking ti bomb!

The discussion quickly died down. Everyone turned their eyes to Shen Yu again, their expressions solemn, even tense.

It felt as if they were awaiting judgnt.

The card in Shen Yu’s hand dissolved into light and vanished. In the next instant, information was transmitted directly into the minds of everyone in the conference hall.

A new kind of monster—a parasite carrying a special energy.

It can parasitize living organisms, constantly affecting them—sotis even the entire species surrounding the host.

This causes rapid mutation and evolution, triggering all kinds of changes.

These changes are ongoing, but they share one thing in common.

—Malice toward humanity.

The information contained in the card wasn’t much, but even this small amount made many in the room furrow their brows deeply.

Parasitic bugs?

That cause biological mutation and evolution?

It’s not that they couldn’t understand the concept—but they couldn’t grasp a clear picture.

Mutation and evolution—to what extent?

If the root cause is the parasite, how do we get rid of it?

What is this special energy, exactly?

Is it possible, as with other monsters, for humanity to seize control over them?

The intel here was far too simple—so simple, in fact, that it only led to more questions.

Still, a few people’s expressions were extrely grave—Shen Yu included.

Because they had actually noticed sothing—they weren’t entirely in the dark.

"These past couple of days, we’ve already conducted a preliminary exploration with underwater detection devices we got from the Interstellar Civilization, and we’ve discovered so issues." Shen Yu raised his hand, and the giant projection lit up with an image. "Our current exploration depth isn’t great, but we’ve already found a huge cluster of unknown creatures—and I do an huge."

Since they already knew there was at least one teorite under the sea, they hadn’t just done nothing.

In the projection, the detection device didn’t use lights to scan, but other ans.

So, what was shown was actually an AI-generated visual.

It was clear to see—enormous shadows drifting through the water, and zooming out, these shadows turned out to be composed of countless odd beings the size of basketballs.

There were simply too many!

No one could begin to imagine how many—so densely packed that the composite shadow stretched even wider than the largest lakes on land!

When Shen Yu first saw this footage, he thought—these must be the monsters the oceanic teorite had spawned.

Their power and thods unknown, but their numbers were overwhelming.

But unexpectedly, it turned out these were only one of the species affected by the parasite!

This was why Shen Yu looked so grim.

He zood out again, then singled out one individual.

"You can see here—this unknown organism has razor-sharp teeth, and powerful claws. Its upper body even has sothing resembling fins, spreading outward and forming blade-like shapes. AI analysis of their muscle groups suggests these could grant them flight capability. You all should realize—if this prediction holds true, what that ans."

The hall was dead silent.

What does it an?

It ans these masses of mutated sea monsters could burst out of the ocean, into the skies, then charge at Human Civilization!

"Initially, I thought these were the teorite monsters themselves, but now it’s clear—they’re just one type of creature generated under the teorite’s influence." Shen Yu slamd the table. "The severity of our situation has once again surpassed expectations—and it’s not just a single type of monster we’re facing. We all know, the biomass in the ocean vastly exceeds that of land. If every creature is affected, mutating into these monsters, the scale and strength of our enemies will be far beyond anything we could’ve imagined."

Yes, the situation appears even worse than anyone had predicted.

Shen Yu even wondered if this teorite had intentionally targeted the ocean.

If it had struck land, any mutated terrestrial life would be more visible and easier to handle.

But the ocean...

The people present were already deep in discussion.

On first receiving the monster intel, they hadn’t truly grasped it. Only now, seeing these terrifying mutated monsters, did they really understand what these parasites capable of mutating life—coupled with the ocean’s imnse biodiversity—could bring about.

For now, it appeared that only ordinary fish species had mutated.

But what if it’s sharks?

What if it’s whales?

The re thought sent chills down so spines.

"First we need to find out how many creatures are affected, and whether it’s spreading."

"Maybe we could try dealing with a portion first."

"Oceanic life is incredibly hard to control—we must build coastal defenses imdiately."

"We need to trade for coastal defense equipnt from the Interstellar Civilization—though I don’t know if there’s still ti."

"We also need to expand recruitnt, and accelerate Martial Arts training."

"Is it even possible to evacuate people from seaside cities?"

"Difficult, extrely difficult—coastal cities tend to be large, everywhere in the world, with massive populations."

"Even the interior isn’t stable—our safe areas have already been severely compressed."

"..."

Shen Yu no longer participated in the detailed discussions; instead, he sat in the stands, recording every outco of the eting in his mind.

Overall, the key responses boiled down to three components.

First, strengthen ocean floor detection and monitoring.

Second, rapidly construct coastal defense facilities, expand recruitnt, and bolster combat strength.

Third, advance research to find ways to halt mutation or efficiently eliminate mutated organisms on a large scale.

All three efforts seed inseparable from Interstellar Civilization support.

As things stood, the only good news was that after Shen Yu displayed the Association’s Mighty Power and shared this strength with everyone, enthusiasm for enlistnt and confidence in combat had grown dramatically.

But Shen Yu could also see the lingering bewildernt in everyone’s eyes.

They’d just managed to stabilize things—yet now, another enormous crisis lood. And added to that, a teorite was confird to arrive in three days.

Even those at the top were growing increasingly lost about the future of Human Civilization.

But no matter what—the monsters wouldn’t let them breathe easy.

If they didn’t want to die, humanity would have to go all out to defeat its enemies.

Shen Yu once again invoked the Gray Mist, this ti asking when the mutated sea monsters would launch their first attack on humanity. The answer: seven days from now.

The attacker would be an unbelievably massive "whale"—so huge it inspired terror—leading legions of "flying mutant fish" as they burst from the sea with a roar.

Seven days—can the entire coastal defense line be built in that ti?

It can!

Shen Yu had already consulted with interstellar world Shen Yu, and it was entirely possible.

The Interstellar Civilization had ample experience in constructing such defenses, especially in responding to wars involving massive biological threats.

The Void Spirit Race also favored "ocean tactics."

Deploying dense biological weaponry in a full-frontal assault.

Waves crashing against the armies of Human Civilization.

Under such pressure, the Interstellar Civilization’s defensive construction thods and response tactics had advanced to an incredible level.

"But if we want to eradicate all mutated sea creatures, that’s going to be a huge problem," interstellar world Shen Yu said. "Battling underwater is far more complex than on land—requiring enormous investnt. I’m not sure the Goddess of Hope would approve this scale of resources. Plus, all-out war would irreparably damage the ocean’s ecosystem."

"Ultimately solving the crisis can’t be done through brute force," Shen Yu narrowed his eyes. "I also asked the Gray Mist: how much would it cost, fundantally, to resolve the crisis? A technology-based solution would consu 2.6 billion, martial arts would take 3.8 billion, but magic... would only need 1.4 billion!"
