Now reading: Chapter 132 - 102: The Tip of the Iceberg of the Meteorite’s from Facing the Apocalypse with My Other Selves, a Sci-fi novel by Rusty Runes.

At the very least, the Gray Mist isn’t obtained that easily.

The rest of them all gave helpless smiles at this, though it was hard to tell whether Martial Artist Shen Yu was truly worried or just showing off.

"By the way." The interstellar world Shen Yu seed to think of sothing, looked at Shen Yu’s main body, and asked, "There’s only a few hours left before the new teorite arrives. Didn’t you use the Gray Mist to take a look at what kind of monster it brings, so you can prepare in advance? This is the first teorite to descend under human surveillance."

Although it had been tried before, using the cosmic battleship couldn’t prevent the teorite from hitting the Mother Star. But, based on past experience, the monsters brought by a teorite are usually easiest to deal with at the very start of their arrival.

Eyeworms, worms, zombie bacteria, plant-type monsters, deep-sea parasites, all of them were like that.

If we could understand the traits of the monsters the teorite brings, it should be much easier to deal with them imdiately.

Yet, faced with this question, Shen Yu fell silent.

After a long pause, he slowly spoke: "This is exactly what I wanted to discuss next. I suspect that behind these continuously arriving teorites that bring strange monsters, there exists so kind of logical system with the ability to discern and execute—I’m unable to predict data about the new monster."

"You can’t predict it?" The others were all stunned.

There are things that even the Gray Mist can’t predict?

"To be precise, the cost is astronomical—extrely high!" Shen Yu said, "The minimum cost to forcibly predict it is as high as 16.3 billion units of Gray Mist! I spent a fair amount of Gray Mist probing this, and finally deduced that the monster carried by this teorite will change according to the state of human civilization, even including humanity’s knowledge!"

16.3 billion units of Gray Mist?!

The other Shens Yu were all shocked.

What does that even an?

That’s enough to save the human Mother Star twice, at least!

Just to predict what kind of monster a single, not-yet-arrived teorite will bring would cost enough for Wizard Shen Yu to complete Demon Pattern Fusion at least several tis!

"Sixteen point three billion—and that’s the lowest cost I got after trying various approaches." Shen Yu continued gravely, "The biggest reduction cos from adding the premise of ’only I would know the result of the prediction.’ Otherwise, the required amount would be 97.2 billion."

This is also why Shen Yu said that there must be an observation and execution ability in the logical system behind the teorite.

Because this imnse cost is clearly not just used for this one teorite arriving early.

Most likely, it’s for shielding against the teorite’s logic system’s "observation" ability.

To keep it from knowing that human civilization has predicted intel on the monster.

This also ans that until the teorite fully arrives, the monsters it carries remain entirely uncertain.

Like Schrödinger’s teorite.

Even worse, is their observation ability limited to the intelligence known by human civilization?

Or perhaps, if it can even know what humanity knows, then what about their power?

"Why do I feel like the Mother Star’s apocalypse is so much more troubleso than the gods?" Wizard Shen Yu clicked his tongue a bit.

He had thought the apocalypse in his own world was the most troubleso of all these worlds.

But now it seed, the apocalypse here on the Mother Star was mysterious to the point of being terrifying.

"Why do I feel like the force behind this teorite isn’t just trying to destroy human civilization?" interstellar world Shen Yu frowned slightly. "Whether it’s from the Gray Mist’s information cost or its various other manifestations, the power hidden beyond the teorite is extrely strong. If it were simply trying to wipe out this little Earth Star Civilization, it wouldn’t need to be so complicated, it would be easy to make human civilization utterly helpless. What’s more, although the monsters so far have been powerful, so long as they’re handled, most offer huge benefits in return. That feature can’t be ignored."

Actually, that’s not even all that interstellar world Shen Yu noticed.

Take, for example, the teorite’s observable but untouchable properties.

If it can’t be touched or interfered with, what’s the point of allowing it to be observed?

It feels more like a warning, or a deliberate hint!

Telling the whole world: the monster is coming!

Letting human civilization know the teorite’s arrival, giving enough ti to expect the monster’s appearance.

Even the early arrival of the small teorites seems to faintly carry this sort of hint.

"It doesn’t seem to be simply for destroying human civilization," Wizard Shen Yu offered his view, speaking slowly. "It looks more like so kind of assessnt, or trial."

The other Shen Yus mostly nodded silently.

That’s right, there does seem to be sothing to that.

Judging by how the monsters’ types are constantly adjusted based on observations and analysis of human civilization, and how you can gain benefits if you defeat them, all of this makes it seem not just ant to destroy human civilization.

"But, whatever the case, every kind of monster certainly possesses the potential to utterly destroy all of human civilization." Shen Yu let out a long breath. "Even if it really is a trial, never mind its purpose, the chance of humanity being destroyed in the process far exceeds any normal concept of a ’trial.’ It’s no exaggeration to call it one hundred percent."

If there were no Gray Mist Space, no other versions of Shen Yu from other worlds—

Human civilization simply couldn’t have survived the first few monsters.

And judging from the other Shens Yu, in the original tiline, human civilization was completely wiped out, leaving nothing behind.

The "trial" possibility can only be used as an auxiliary hypothesis while reasoning.

If anyone really took it lightly just because of that, they’d be digging their own grave.

"Whatever the truth," Martial Artist Shen Yu suddenly smiled, "with things as they are, the truth behind the teorite is at least revealing a bit of its iceberg. At least we’re getting more intel. As long as human civilization isn’t wiped out, as long as the Multi-Dinsional Apocalypse Civilization Mutual Aid Association exists, we’ll eventually uncover the whole truth."

That’s right.

The other three Shen Yus all nodded.

That last sentence wasn’t just for the main Shen Yu—it was for all the Shens Yu.

Just as they’ve said in every world they’ve visited—

As long as the civilization survives, humanity will always have infinite possibilities.

So there’s no need to fear. Hope and the future always exist.

This session of intel sharing ended here.

All the Shen Yus shared the circumstances of their own worlds, then left in their own ways.

Shen Yu also returned to his own world to make final preparations.

The situation regarding this new teorite involved the use of a great deal of Gray Mist and must be understood at once.

And not just Shen Yu—human civilization itself was extrely concerned.

The upper echelons were actively mobilizing resources, making all kinds of preparations.

However, the relevant situation hadn’t been fully disclosed to the public, which did cause so confusion.

For example, people had long been asking online why they couldn’t just use the cosmic battleship to blow up that asteroid, or intercept the teorite in outer space.

So people even clamored for everyone to emigrate to Mars, abandoning the Mother Star.

Whatever netizens could co up with, the upper echelons of human civilization could certainly imagine too.

But the teorite was just too mysterious.

With insufficient intel, making any rash, major decision might just be a waste of effort, or could even lead to worse outcos.

If they emigrated to Mars, what if the teorite turned toward Mars?

With even untouchability as one of its properties, nothing seems impossible anymore.

Likewise, they’re not fully disclosing all information yet, simply because there’s a lack of concrete intel—too much is just conjecture, and hasty disclosure might just cause panic and other negative effects.

Gradual disclosure is the right move.

At this mont, that earlier probe-type cosmic battleship was already hovering high in the sky, carrying out comprehensive monitoring of the teorite that had officially entered Mother Star’s space.
