"Master..."

A mosquito-like whisper instantly brought a glimr back to He Shutong’s sowhat dim eyes.

He Shutong couldn’t understand the change in her mood, so she continued wiping You Su’s sweat to disguise a hint of relief and joy.

You Su hadn’t completely lost hope in her, and that was enough.

In You Su’s dream, it was a chaotic world.

The sky and earth were inverted, and fire and water collided fiercely across the lands.

These scenes, whether from the ancient past or the distant future, confused You Su. In the overwhelming darkness, he walked alone toward his throne, amidst rubble and broken bodies.

At that mont, suddenly a hand grabbed him from behind. When he turned to look, there was no owner of the hand, as if it extended from the edge of his vision.

Without hesitation, he grasped this hand, because the throne only brought him coldness and emptiness...

He Shutong’s slender hand trembled slightly - she had only intended to hold down his erratically grasping hand in the void, yet unexpectedly, the unconscious You Su suddenly clutched her hand tightly. Upon reflection, this was the first ti in her two hundred years of life that she had direct physical contact with a man.

The strange sensation made her instinctively want to withdraw her hand, but You Su held on tightly, like grasping a lifeline. He Shutong couldn’t bear to use Profound Qi to force his hand open, and seeing You Su shaking his head in pain, her heart softened, allowing him to hold on.

She carefully examined You Su’s face, as if hearing the restrained call of "Master, Master" once again, not knowing how long she had her hand held by You Su.

You Su’s eyelashes trembled, he finally awoke.

More than the severe pain over his body, what concerned You Su most was the familiar yet strange fog before his eyes.

This fog, from its previous impenetrable state, had transford to where he could see blinding light, and now it allowed him to perceive a large amount of light.

For instance, the outline of the ceiling above him was vaguely visible. With this level of vision, You Su believed that even without relying on perception ability, he wouldn’t stumble when walking outside.

A delicate fragrance suddenly wafted by, and You Su recognized this scent—it was the unforgettable fragrance from his master.

Only then did he realize what he was holding, a touch cool and delicate. If this were a person’s hand, it would indeed be worthy of the description "cold as ice, pure as jade, devoid of sweat."

Realizing what he was actually holding, You Su quickly let go. From childhood, he had never dared to act so inappropriately towards his master. He imdiately tried to rise and apologize, but his abrupt movents tugged at wounds all over his body, making him cry out in pain.

He Shutong’s eyebrows knitted slightly, her jade hand gently raised, enveloping You Su with a tender Profound Qi that softly eased him back down.

"I am your master, not an enemy. You’re safe now, just lie back," He Shutong said softly, thinking that You Su had not yet co out of a combat alert state, so he tried to get up the mont he woke.

He Shutong also felt a deeper sense of guilt, as it was her who wasn’t by You Su’s side when he was in danger, her who kept claiming to save him, but in the end, achieved nothing.

Listening to that sowhat familiar, cold voice, You Su thought back to the ti his master saved him from Mr. Liou.

At the mont the Dream-eating Ghost appeared, he understood everything. His master had never been possessed, it was a lie by the monstrous junior sister and master in his mind all along.

By now, is he really out of danger...

"Master..."

You Su’s voice dragged on, seemingly unable to hold back his tears.

He Shutong was slightly stunned; the complex emotions in You Su’s call left her montarily confused. Inside was reliance, inquiry, gratitude, and reproach...

A strong impulse surged within, compelling He Shutong to respond to You Su’s call, yet she didn’t know how to articulate it. The most direct expression was through action, so she proactively grasped You Su’s hand to let him know of her presence.

"Mm."

This action, seemingly impossible for the Lotus Sword Venerable, did not feel inappropriate to He Shutong. Instead, it brought her joy in taking initiative. The ice had begun to lt; she would do everything possible to retain the boy who needed her.

"Master, I am so tired..."

Overwheld by the caring transmitted from the opposing side, tears welled in You Su’s eyes as past sorrows finally breached his defenses. Though resilient, he was but an eighteen-year-old young man, who had been holding on through sheer will.

Now having a harbor to rely upon, he finally let down all his guard, crying unabashedly.

An overwheld He Shutong saw You Su as nothing more than a pitiable blind child nearly two centuries her junior. Raised without parents, cared for by an unreliable master, then entrusted to her, just as unreliable.

The hardships he had endured ought to have been resolved by her, yet she failed and even tried passing him to others. This was entirely her fault, and as guilt enveloped her heart, she couldn’t find a way to console the sobbing youth before her.

Almost subconsciously, like awakening motherly instincts, she gently bent down to embrace the tearful You Su.

Despite He Shutong’s icy aura, her body was warm. The brief pause in You Su’s tears coincided with the enveloping pleasant fragrance and the soft warmth against his cheeks, plunging him into a dream he wished never to wake from. He indulged in this dream, freely releasing all the repressed emotions within himself.

"Are you really... my master..." You Su stamred.

"Of course I am," He Shutong answered firmly.

The boy, showcasing his vulnerability in her presence, brought He Shutong both secret joy and heartache. She gently hugged his neck, holding him a little more tightly.

"Master, I have so many questions to ask you, can I..."

This sentence pricked He Shutong’s heart, as the boy still respectfully sought her permission before speaking.

"Mm."

"Master, did you leave the sect a long ti ago?"

"Mm..."

"Were you always communicating with through the communication stone?"

"Not always..."

"Then did you really not have any cultivation?"

"Before... yes, I didn’t."

"Master, why did you lie to ... I almost never saw you again that day..."

"I, I didn’t an to deceive you, it’s just that you never asked, so I didn’t tell you..."

"Master... who exactly are you?"

"I..."

Just then, a sudden lively voice interrupted the words He Shutong had yet to convey:

"What are you two... doing?!"
