You Su stared at the sowhat decaying ceiling, lost in thought for a long ti.

At the juncture of the beam, there was a sprawling, complex spider web, like a strange painting.

An unfortunate insect was stuck to the web, struggling in futility as if refusing to accept its fate. The spider was lurking sowhere, watching, waiting for the mont the insect completely surrendered, ready to leisurely enjoy its feast.

You Su turned over, and his eyes told him that he was lying on his bed in his room.

But his consciousness told him he had just been fighting desperately, that he should be at the bottom of a well leading to nowhere, urgently needing to wake up and take his sister away.

Yet even after realizing this, the scene before him did not change at all.

He walked out the door.

In the familiar courtyard, there was no mist; the loquat tree he had planted himself still stood tall like a canopy.

But the strangely shaped sister and Master were nowhere to be seen.

Thinking back, he hadn’t entered the dream realm containing his sister and Master’s consciousness for quite so ti.

He had always suspected this was why the monster-sister fell into slumber, and entering again now, does it an it has awakened?

Was it awakened due to being detected by the main consciousness?

You Su felt a deep sense of guilt; he hadn’t done his duty properly. He failed to protect his sister and Master, allowing outsiders to presumptuously uncover their silently shared secrets.

Given the current circumstances, despite his extre reluctance to admit it, Master might have already fallen under evil control, which led her to secretly leave to do sothing, leaving only the sister who had not been fully assimilated yet.

This ant he could no longer stay here wallowing in self-pity; his sister in reality was in grave danger. He had to get out and rescue her quickly, or there might not even be a chance for redemption.

Thinking of this, You Su ran to Ji Lingruo’s room, intending for the monster-sister to send his consciousness out as before.

"Sister?"

You Su knocked on the door, waiting for a while without response.

Growing anxious, he had never entered his sister’s room, but now politeness couldn’t be afforded.

He kicked the door open forcefully.

Inside his sister’s room, there was no light. Only after opening the door did he barely see anything, and You Su imdiately started searching for the monster-sister.

He found her, in the corner of the room, next to the large wardrobe, in a pitch-black space where even dim light hadn’t reached, six fish-eye-like globes stared at him.

It was the sister! She truly awakened!

Just as You Su was about to call out to her in excitent, a swirling sensation enveloped him, as the colors before him started to distort and blur, first causing him to lose himself, then making him wake up.

In the first mont of regained consciousness, he felt like his body was shattered with painful agony, followed by a soft warmth on the back of his neck.

"Brother...Sob..."

"Brother, don’t die, sob..."

"I won’t be capricious anymore, wake up quickly, let’s escape together, sob..."

Was...was it his sister crying?

Struggling, You Su half-opened his eyes, and through faint lashes, his gaze fell upon the curve of the young girl’s Divine Mountain.

Still fine, he could see her face...

Previously, he had only glimpsed her face briefly, first ti after killing Mr. Ling one morning from a distance, but who could focus on a face under such circumstances...

Then earlier while fleeing together, never had he taken a close look.

This was the first ti You Su examined Ji Lingruo’s face so closely, even in this grim angle of death, despite how dirty it was, he could discern her undeniable beauty.

The corners of her eyes lifted, her brows sharp, her features overall refined yet laced with a hint of edge; ignoring the lingering childishness, she perfectly resembled a world-weary serpentine beauty.

She cried sprinkling with pearly tears, continuously wiping away the tears tumbling down her eyes with alternating hands, sadly with each wipe the tears flowed more.

"Sister..."

You Su murmured softly.

Ji Lingruo was startled, and lowered her head to gaze at the half-narrowed eyes of You Su, his eyes dark as ink, entirely lacking whites, yet she held no fear nor disdain.

"Plop, plop."

Two tears splashed from the girl’s chin onto the edge of You Su’s lips.

Ji Lingruo felt a bit embarrassed, wanting to wipe them away for You Su, but he languidly extended his tongue, licking his tear-covered lip.

Afterward, he squeezed out a forced smile.

"You!"

Ji Lingruo’s embarrassnt turned into irritation, abruptly stopping her tears. She took a deep breath and asked coldly:

"Are you healed?"

You Su’s smile stiffened, just about to answer but was seized by a violent coughing fit first. Ji Lingruo’s cold expression softened, gently patting You Su’s back until he coughed out a mouthful of dark blood, finally halting the coughs.

Ji Lingruo lifted You Su’s head onto the plumpest part of her thigh, making the knee pillow more comfortable, then took out a sowhat dirty handkerchief to wipe away the blood sared on You Su’s lips.

You Su could do nothing; he only watched Ji Lingruo silently performing these tasks, his heart like a fractured riverbed nourished gradually by a gentle stream.

Spitting out the black blood, he felt sowhat better, intending to attempt speaking, while Ji Lingruo perceptively covered his lips with her soft hand, commanding:

"No speaking, get so rest first."

You Su blinked, complying obediently.

Ji Lingruo continued softly: "I know you have questions. When I woke up, everything was pitch black around , I guessed you must have brought sowhere safe. Fearing those villains would follow, I carried you groping in the dark, walked until I was nearly dead tired, only finding this sole place with so light."
