"As expected... Juvia still cannot hurt you."
Juvia shook her head at Gray, her eyes so gentle they seed ready to lt.
"Huh?" Gray froze, looking puzzled. "What are you talking about?"
"That..."
Juvia squird, her index fingers fidgeting against each other in front of her.
"Juvia... is... is saying... I... I lov..."
The words "love you" felt like a fishbone stuck in her throat; no matter what, she couldn't spit them out.
The more she wanted to express herself, the more her tongue tied in knots, and her mood grew increasingly tense and downcast. The light, drizzling rain suddenly turned violent.
"Hey, hey, did this rain just get heavier?"
Gray wiped the rain from his face, muttering as he looked at the inexplicably intensifying downpour.
"With this rain, the sky looks a bit gloomy..."
Boom!
The word "gloomy" struck Juvia's sensitive nerves precisely. Her body went rigid, and only the word "gloomy" echoed endlessly in her mind.
The floodgates of her mory were forced open, and the past buried deep in her heart surged forth like a tide.
"I really wish Juvia had taken leave and not co on the day of the excursion!"
"Whenever that girl is around, it always rains. It really puts everyone in a bad mood!"
"Why does it always rain? Being with you, we can't even go fishing or camping..."
"What a gloomy rain. Continuous rain is just terrible!"
"..."
Disgusted faces and hurtful words overlapped with the scene before her.
Juvia lowered her head; her face, which had been flushed with shyness, had turned pale as paper.
[This person is just like all those people from the past...]
"Hey, what's wrong with you?" Gray asked, watching Juvia's sudden change.
"It's all the sa!!!"
Juvia let out a shrill scream, and the surrounding rain was evaporated into steam by the high heat radiating from her body.
[Juvia... doesn't need any love!!!]
A terrifying torrent of water instantly engulfed Gray, sweeping him away.
"Hiss, so hot!!!"
Gray felt as if he had fallen into a pot of boiling water; his skin felt a searing sensation.
"Don't get cocky! Watch freeze you up!"
He pushed his palms forward, attempting to freeze the water engulfing him, but it had no effect against the extrely hot boiling water.
"What?! Can't freeze it?! How can it be this hot?!"
"Love or whatever... I don't need love at all!!!"
Juvia acted like one possessed; every wave of her hand brought forth rolling heat waves, her offensive growing increasingly fierce.
"Anyway, Juvia is just a gloomy rain woman, but..."
"Even if Juvia is like this, Phantom Lord accepted . Juvia is one of the Elent 4! A Wizard of Phantom Lord!"
"Shatter... for !!!"
Juvia transford her entire body into a water current, rushing towards Gray with an aura of total destruction!
"Stupid woman... what are you talking to yourself about!"
"I am a Wizard of Fairy Tail! I won't lose to... sothing like Phantom Lord!!!"
Gray held an ice shield in his right hand to block the oncoming heat waves, while his left hand gathered magic power and punched out, instantly freezing the heat wave into ice.
"Even the rain has turned to ice. What trendous magic power..."
"Since you're so hot, I'll just make you calm down completely!"
"Whirrr—"
Massive magic power instantly erupted from within Gray. He slamd both hands onto the ground, and an ice-blue magic circle appeared beneath him.
"Ice-Make: Geyser!!!"
A large number of ice spikes erupted from the ground, freezing Juvia in mid-air before shattering.
Juvia felt all her strength drained away; her body traced an arc in the air, falling toward the ground.
"Lost..."
The wind whistled in her ears, and a tragically beautiful smile curled at the corners of Juvia's lips.
"This way, it's all over."
"Juvia will scatter on the ground like raindrops. Heh, this is truly fitting for the end of a rain woman who is needed by no one."
"Farewell... my gloomy self."
Suddenly!
A large hand suddenly grabbed her wrist, and her downward montum ca to an abrupt halt.
Juvia opened her eyes in surprise and looked up.
She saw Gray lying on the edge of the magic-guided giant, one hand gripping a protrusion, the other holding her wrist tightly.
"Don't let go!"
Gray gritted his teeth and said to the dangling Juvia, "I will absolutely not let you fall!"
Juvia stared blankly at Gray, her mind a complete blank.
With Gray pulling her, Juvia was hauled back onto the platform.
"Whew... what a troubleso woman."
Gray shook his sore arm and complained.
"Why..." Juvia knelt on the ground, her eyes dazed. "Why did you save Juvia?"
Gray paused for a mont, then scratched his head. "Who knows."
"Alright, since you've lost, just lie down obediently."
Hearing this, Juvia stared blankly at Gray's profile.
Seemingly sensing Juvia's burning gaze, Gray turned back and flashed a bright, sunny smile.
"Although I don't know why, but how about it... have you cald down now?"
As he spoke, the layer of dark clouds overhead quietly cracked open.
The first ray of golden dawn light pierced through the clouds and gloom, falling squarely onto Juvia's tear-streaked face.
Warm and bright!!!
Juvia instinctively raised her hand, looking through her fingers at the sowhat dazzling light.
"Eh?"
Her pupils trembled, and she looked at the clear, blue sky in astonishnt.
"The rain... stopped?"
Gone was the suffocating dampness, gone was the lingering gloom.
In their place was the brilliant morning sun, a vast, clear sky.
The rain woman's rain had ceased at this very mont!!!
"Is this... a clear sky?"
Juvia murmured to herself, tears sliding from the corners of her eyes.
"It's... the first ti I've ever seen it."
She turned her head, the sunlight falling through Gray into her eyes, as if rging with that morning sun.
Juvia broke into a smile through her tears, her face blossoming with a smile as bright as a flower.
"It really is very beautiful."
"Is this... love?!"
