Now reading: Chapter 174: The Dragon’s Urn and the Ambush from Fairy Tail: Igneel's eldest son in Anime Multiverse, a Action novel by Mutter.

The 40th floor of the Dungeon was already as large as the entirety of Orario, so one could imagine the vastness of the 52nd floor. But the greatest danger wasn't its size—nor was it on the 52nd floor itself—it lay below, in the deeper floors.

On the 58th floor of the Dungeon existed a species of bipedal crimson dragons, officially classified as "Cannon Dragons," nad for their ability to fire powerful blasts that disregarded floor boundaries.

These blasts could penetrate up to six floors and strike all the way up to the 52nd. Their destructive power was terrifying.

Adventurers traversing this area could find themselves abruptly attacked from beneath.

Even if one dodged the blast, they might fall into the hole left behind.

Granted, LV5 elites capable of venturing into the deep floors wouldn't die from a fall, thanks to their incredible physical resilience.

But the real terror lay in the scores of bipedal wyverns dwelling between the 52nd and 58th floors. These creatures were the stuff of nightmares for anyone who fell.

This seven-floor stretch had earned the infamous nickna: "The Dragon's Urn."

"It's a Cannon Dragon attack! Fall back!"

The team—all elites, including the concealed powerhouse Charles—reacted imdiately, sensing the anomaly underfoot and dodging in unison.

With a thunderous boom, the ground split apart. Before them, a massive crater five or six ters wide opened up.

It was bottomless, glowing faint red with molten lava below—no doubt lted from the floor by the attack's sheer heat.

Roars echoed up from the depths, chilling the blood of those who heard.

Wind was whipped into chaos as shadows burst forth from the hole.

"Wyverns incoming! Prepare to engage!"

The bipedal wyverns looked just like the dragons from Western fantasy novels of Charles's previous life—huge reptilian bodies, forelimbs evolved into bat-like wings.

Thanks to these wings, their flight speed was formidable.

Unfortunately for them, they were up against the top adventurers in all of Orario.

No orders were needed from Finn. The party mbers were already springing into action.

"Wind!"

Ais chanted a short incantation, erald winds wrapping around her and her rapier.

Empowered by the spell "Ariel," she instantly closed the gap with a wyvern and drove her blade through its chest.

The beast vanished into mist, leaving behind a magic stone and a few drop items.

Next ca the young werewolf. In midair, Bete raised his leg, his tal boots glinting silver.

Those boots—"Frostbite"—were a work of the fad One-Eyed Master Tsubaki. They could absorb magical energy to enhance their strikes.

Unlike Charles, who leveraged Fal's magic to infuse equipnt with fla absorption, Tsubaki had achieved this purely through smithing skill—creating gear capable of absorbing all elental magic.

It was no wonder she was hailed as the greatest blacksmith in Orario, her skill nearing the divine.

Even without having absorbed any magic, Bete's raw strength was fearso.

"Die, you piece of trash!"

He kicked the wyvern's head, blowing it apart.

Elsewhere, Tiona swung her massive dual blades and cleaved a wyvern clean in two. Tione followed with a reverse-blade slash, severing another's neck.

Six wyverns had erged. Only one made it to the ground.

It was t by Gareth. Known as the "Heavyhamr," the dwarf possessed the Dungeon's highest strength and endurance stats. A simple swing of his battleaxe reduced the dragon to black mist.

Charles took the initiative as support, quickly gathering the magic stones and drop items.

The wyverns' wing mbranes, scales, and teeth were all excellent crafting materials—he couldn't let any go to waste.

After Charles had secured the spoils, Finn gave the order to press on.

They reached the 53rd floor smoothly, dodging another Cannon Dragon bombardnt with ease.

Then they arrived at the 54th floor—and trouble struck.

From the mont they entered, Charles could feel Fal growing restless. It had detected the tainted energy of the fallen fairy again.

Seeing Charles halt, Finn asked, "What is it? Sothing wrong?"

Charles nodded. "Those new species are back. This ti, it's…"

After receiving Fal's input, he raised his voice. "They're beneath us! Everyone, watch your footing!"

No sooner had he spoken than a green blur burst from the ground.

"What the— Is that a snake?" Tiona called out, charging forward.

You couldn't bla her for the mistake—the creature really did resemble a serpent.

It had a long, slender body covered in scales.

"Doesn't matter what it is—just crush it!"

Bete barked, kicking the creature and sending it flying.

His expression changed. That kick could shatter a wyvern's skull—yet this thing only got knocked back.

"You useless mutt, let handle it!"

Tiona shouted as she spun her massive dual blades like a windmill, slicing the creature clean in half.

A green magic stone dropped, and Finn's face grew grim.

But the battle wasn't over yet. The ground rumbled again and again. Over a dozen of the sa creatures erupted from the floor.

Finn grabbed his golden spear and said, "How many of these damned things are there?"

Charles gave a wry smile and pointed downward. "They're everywhere beneath our feet."

Finn froze, then barked out orders. "Riveria, looks like we'll be needing your magic again. Charles, prep a magic sword for support."

Both nodded. Charles drew a sword from beneath his cloak, while Riveria began chanting a long incantation.

"O harbinger of the end… O snow white frost… In twilight's fading light…"

As she chanted, the rest of the group clashed with the creatures. And they soon realized—they weren't snakes at all.

Two of the monsters at the back suddenly opened up near their tops, like blooming flowers.

But rather than beauty, they revealed grotesque maws full of teeth.

They were man-eating flowers.

"Ew! That's disgusting!"

Tiona said with a grimace, though her hands moved quickly, chopping down two of them in succession.

Ais was even faster—her wind-enhanced blade stabbed through the thick-bodied flowers, bursting them into glowing particles.

But then she noticed sothing odd—the monsters were ignoring her and changing course.

"They're heading for… Riveria!"

Indeed, all the flower monsters began moving toward Riveria mid-chant.

Finn skewered one and growled, "They can sense magic power. Don't let them interrupt her spell!"

Riveria could manage parallel casting, dodging while chanting with no issue.

But protecting the mage was a front-liner's duty. There was no way they'd let these things through.

Gareth stomped forward, shattering the ground. Raising his giant axe, he brought it down in a thunderous smash.

Crack… Crack… BOOM!

The earth cried out under the blow, fractures spreading wide. The terrain exploded, wiping out the nearby monsters.

At that mont, Riveria finished her spell.

"Snowstorm unending, triple winter of death—my na is Alf: rejoice, Fimbulwinter!"

Everyone familiar with her magic had already moved to a safe distance.

Three waves of icy wind surged out, transforming the space before Riveria into a frozen wasteland.

The man-eating flower monsters were encased in ice—dead the instant they were frozen.

This was the power of the "Nine Hells"—Orario's strongest mage—unleashing her devastating wide-area annihilation spell.
