From the very beginning, Charles had never intended for anyone else to fight Acnologia. If Mavis hadn't appeared, he would've coordinated everyone himself to activate Fairy Sphere.
But since Mavis did show up, Charles had other ideas.
He wanted to see Acnologia with his own eyes—not just to gauge its power, but to unleash his own fury and hatred.
Of course, Charles wasn't suicidal. He had long since prepared the magic required for World Travel. So the mont he sensed Fairy Sphere activating, he used World Magic to leave the Fairy Tail world.
No matter how powerful Acnologia was, Charles didn't believe the dragon could chase him across worlds.
At first, Charles had worried about being wounded and suddenly arriving in a dangerous new world. But as it turned out, he'd landed in a slice-of-life world with no supernatural powers at all.
It felt like the entire universe existed solely for the male and female protagonists to flirt with each other. So once Charles had recovered his magic, he returned to the Fairy Tail world.
Back at the guild, he inford everyone about the situation with the main mbers and dealt with a few small-ti punks who ca looking for trouble while the core team was away.
Then Charles entered an extrely busy period. To maintain the guild's reputation, he took on one mission after another, working himself to the bone.
Exhausted, Charles realized this couldn't go on. If the guild's current crisis was to be solved, they needed more combat strength. Fast.
That's when Charles rembered the powerful wizards who appeared seven years later in the original tiline.
He sprang into action, using his mory and gathered intel to seek out these future elites.
First were the Twin Dragons of future Sabertooth—Sting and Rogue. Four hundred years ago, they had been his underlings. Their mories hadn't been completely erased; they still rembered Charles.
So he simply brought them back into the fold.
Next on his list was the Sky God Slayer, Sherria.
She was Wendy's close friend and future "Sky Sisters" partner. Later, she would give up her only magic ability just to help Wendy. There was no way Charles was letting her end up in a different guild.
The tricky part was that Sherria was the cousin of Sherry from Lamia Scale. But since this was seven years ago, Sherria was still just a little kid—so Charles got to her first and brought her into Fairy Tail.
The last person Charles recruited was Kagura Mikazuchi.
That eting happened entirely by chance—Charles was out on a mission when he encountered Kagura training in swordsmanship.
After witnessing Charles's martial arts, Kagura insisted on calling him "Master." And just like that, she beca one of Fairy Tail's current mainstays.
These recruits may not have been as mature as they were seven years in the future, but they already possessed great potential—and solid combat strength.
Very soon, Fairy Tail was back on track, and Charles could finally focus on growing stronger himself.
So he began world-hopping again.
But this ti, he seriously suspected he'd used up all his luck by surviving that jump in front of Acnologia. The world he ended up in now? Things were not looking good.
There were remnants of modern high-rise buildings visible in the distance…
But those broken structures were coated in so thick, blood-like substance.
Even the sky was soaked in red fog. It was the textbook image of a post-apocalyptic hellscape.
Charles honestly thought he'd landed in one of those doomsday settings. Especially since in all his wandering, he hadn't seen a single human—only warped, grotesque monsters.
The creatures were bizarre. So still retained vague animal or human shapes. Others were completely alien.
But the one thing they all had in common was a glowing, grid-like pattern across their bodies.
Charles found the pattern familiar… Had he seen this in so apocalyptic-thed work?
These monsters had no reason, yet they relentlessly attacked Charles. It did feel a bit like sothing out of Resident Evil.
But Charles could tell—they weren't products of science. They were composed of condensed energy. Highly specialized, highly unstable.
Still, for Charles, this world held little value.
He didn't have so system where killing monsters gave him experience points. Fighting these things yielded him no benefits.
He blasted one ape-like creature's head off with a single punch. The raging flas turned it to ash.
He wanted to avoid wasting energy on them, but the monsters seed drawn to him, swarming him one after another without end.
Two or three days passed. Charles couldn't even rember how many he'd destroyed.
If this world was truly this desolate and repetitive, he'd need to consider moving on again.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
A series of thunderous crashes rang out, as if sothing massive was lumbering in his direction.
Charles turned toward the rising dust cloud and spotted a giant humanoid monster approaching. As it moved, it let out creepy horror-movie-style laughter.
Charles narrowed his eyes. This one was different.
Its limbs were disproportionately long, but it was unmistakably humanoid. What really stood out was the green grid pattern on its abdon—all the others had yellow patterns.
But Charles no longer looked at surface appearances. His power level allowed him to sense sothing's true nature.
This monster's core energy was similar to the others', but its properties were inverted.
Charles smirked. Finally, sothing new. If this world really had been so monotonous, he'd have left already.
The towering beast let out its bone-chilling laugh and threw a punch at Charles.
Its fist shattered the ground, sending dust into the air. But Charles had already leapt clear, landing right in front of the creature.
"Still no intelligence, huh?"
Confirming that it couldn't communicate, Charles lost all interest in dragging things out.
"Fire Dragon's Wing Attack!"
Landing back on the ground, Charles swung his fla-wrapped arms. The massive creature turned into a raging fireball—reduced to ash in the blink of an eye.
Charles didn't move. He simply said coldly, "You've been hiding long enough. Co out."
Clap, clap, clap.
Soone stepped out—completely shrouded in a cloak.
"What an incredible power! That's the first ti I've ever seen sothing like it."
Charles frowned. Judging from the voice and figure, the cloaked person was small—probably no older than eleven or twelve.
But the aura emanating from them imdiately put Charles on guard.
The figure looked up, revealing a young, childlike face.
It was indeed the face of a kid—but the smile on it was disturbingly fake. One eye was covered with an eyepatch.
Sensing Charles's caution, the child spoke.
"No need to be so cold! I ca here specifically to make friends!"
Charles sneered. "Cut the crap. The malice coming off you is practically oozing."
To his surprise, the kid's smile twisted even further at his words.
"Knew it… you are special. Oh—almost forgot! Let introduce myself: I'm Yuto Ishigami. Let's get along, shall we?"
