After Yusuke Urashi returned to the Human World, he realized Charles and Stella hadn't co back with him.

By then, the Spirit World's special assault unit had already just about finished repairing the Demon World Tunnel.

Earlier, because Yusuke had reincarnated as a demon, King Enma had ordered his elimination on the grounds that he might endanger the Human World.

But thanks to Koenma's full-on opposition—and most importantly, because the reincarnated Yusuke was far too powerful—the Spirit World special assault unit didn't move in by force.

It was only because Yusuke didn't display a violent disposition; otherwise they would have already fought him to the death.

At that point, there was no way they'd agree to pausing the seal repairs.

Fortunately, Koenma said in ti, "You don't need to worry about Charles," which kept the conflict from breaking out.

In fact, Charles and the others were basically on a sightseeing trip in the Demon World.

Raizen, after all, was one of the three Demon World kings who ruled the realm; even low-level demons knew where he was.

After asking around and confirming their target, Charles and Stella didn't rush to et Raizen. Instead, they ambled along toward Raizen's domain, exploring as they went.

The Demon World is vast, and it took the two of them more than ten days to reach the country ruled by Raizen.

Of course, along the way they also saw many strange and wonderful sights.

In addition to demons, the Demon World has unique plants and animals that together form a distinctive ecosystem.

Though Demon World beasts look similar to animals in the Human World, their strength is worlds apart. So beasts are even on par with high-level demons.

Naturally, the materials they yield are top-tier as well, letting Charles stock up the little warehouse inside his ring.

The Demon World's plants are even more of a spectacle—truly bizarre and varied.

There exists a species with an extrely long growth cycle, so gigantic its canopy can support more than 20 square kiloters of land: the hundred-million-year tree, which can retain vitality even after fossilizing.

In the original plot, the venue for the Demon World Unification Tournant sat atop an island supported by a hundred-million-year tree.

Charles and Stella passed through regions where several of these trees towered skyward and couldn't help marveling at the wonders of creation.

The largest tree Charles had seen before was the big one on Tenrou Island, and even that was smaller than a hundred-million-year tree. Just as the na implies, without hundreds of millions of years you could never get such a spectacle.

And among the Demon World's unique flora, hundred-million-year trees aren't even the most distinctive.

After all, Kurama's strongest technique is controlling Demon World plants, and along the way Charles saw quite a few of those plants Kurama had once used as weapons in their natural forms.

No wonder Kurama treats them as weapons; they're dangerous to begin with. So areas are such death zones thanks to these plants that even demons don't dare approach.

For Charles, though, they're all highly useful materials.

Stopping and going like that, Charles and Stella still reached the country of the strongest demon in the Demon World.

As a powerful force propping up one corner of the Demon World, the mont Charles set foot in this country he sensed how different it was from other places.

The so-called three great powers of the Demon World are ford with Raizen, Mukuro, and Yomi as absolute cores. You could say everything about each nation is maintained by the existence of its leader.

That's hardly normal by human standards, but it suits demons perfectly.

Accordingly, the character of each nation depends entirely on its king.

Thus the architecture and people here all have a simple, austere feel. Even so, Charles could sense that the demons here were much stronger than those outside.

As for two humans entering a demon nation, the demons were naturally less than friendly. But because Raizen doesn't eat humans, they wouldn't attack outright.

That didn't an they'd let Charles swagger around on their turf. Before he'd gone far, more and more demons gathered until they blocked his path.

Charles guessed the author's concept for this country was a place where ascetics congregate.

They all wore the sa style of robes, and most even sported the sa bald heads. Above all, they radiated powerful demonic aura; being surrounded by such a crowd was pressure enough.

A robust demon with a single horn on his forehead spoke up: "Who are you? What business do you have in our country?"

"We're travelers," Charles replied. "We've co specifically to pay our respects to Battle God Raizen!"

As Charles expected, everyone's expressions turned wary.

Raizen's life was nearing its end after centuries of fasting, and that was hardly a secret.

At a ti like this, of course they wouldn't let anyone near Raizen without worry. For all they knew, these two humans had been sent by Yomi or Mukuro.

"Get out," the one-horned man said coldly. "You're not welco in our country!"

"What a hassle," Charles exhaled. "I never said I needed your welco."

With that, Charles released the magic within him. Wind howled like a dragon's roar and blasted all the demons surrounding him into the air.

Even the air trembled under the pressure of Charles's magic, and the demons lay strewn about in disarray.

Charles raised his head to look at the stone tower rising in the distance—a straight, conical spire with a single passage extending from the top, connecting to a special stone keep.

The instant Charles unleashed his magic, a demonic aura also surged from that keep, squaring off with him from afar.

Stella moved, raising a hand to block the fist swinging at Charles.

A bald man had suddenly appeared there and launched a rciless attack.

The bald man was Raizen's right hand, an S-class great demon nad Hokushin. Sensing how dangerous Charles was, he struck without hesitation, only to find that the human girl who stopped him was no pushover either.

Charles smiled slightly. "Looks like I've been invited. It would be rude not to accept."

"Go on ahead, Charles," Stella said, tightening her fist. "Leave this side to . I haven't really stretched in a while—my body's getting sluggish."

"Have fun," Charles nodded. "I'll go et our host."

Flas wreathed him as Charles shot skyward and flew toward the distant tower.

Hokushin's expression changed and he moved to intercept, but Stella's fire dragon was already snapping at him.

"Your opponent is !" Stella declared, summoning the Feilong Sin Sword.

The flas dispersed as Charles landed on the tower's passageway. Without hesitation, he pushed open the great door carved with fearso reliefs.

Light from the open doorway spilled into the dim room, letting Charles see the man seated on a low chair.

The man's long silver hair hung down his back. Beneath a yellow-brown headband were sunken eye sockets and demonic markings that covered half his face.

His bare upper body bore markings as well, but his muscles had atrophied, making the lines look wan.

Inside the room, the strange booming noise they'd heard outside grew clearer—it was the roar of hunger coming from the abdon of the man before him.

This was the current state of Raizen, once the strongest demon and bearer of the title Battle God.
