Now reading: Chapter 107: IN HIS OWN COMPLICATED WAY from Falling for the Omega Idol, a Yaoi novel by Tyramisu.

HANEUL recalled how Taeyang had been acting completely normal earlier that day. In fact, he had been unusually kind to him, especially compared to how he treated others. Perhaps it was because Haneul had helped his cousin. But then, Seojun joined them in the practice room. Shortly after, Taeyang left the practice room, and from that point on, his behavior had taken a strange turn.

Taeyang began to distance himself from him, which might seem strange to point out since they had only started talking two days ago. Yet, it was impossible not to notice when soone was actively avoiding you—especially when their behavior before and after was so starkly different.

The most frustrating part was that Taeyang always looked like he wanted to approach him, but forced himself to hold back. It was like watching soone eyeing a specific dish they clearly wanted but stopping themselves from asking for it. Okay, maybe that was a weird analogy, but that should still get the point across.

Anyway, Taeyang’s behavior made Haneul want to be petty and ignore him right back. Like, if you wanted to talk, then just co and talk. What was holding him back? Did he think Haneul had so kind of contagious disease? Or maybe he was worried Haneul would suddenly sprout wings and fly away mid-conversation? Honestly, the way Taeyang was acting made no sense.

But now that he thought about it, could it really have sothing to do with Seojun joining them in the practice room? The timing certainly lined up. Yet, the more he considered it, the more ridiculous the idea seed. Why on earth would Seojun’s presence have any impact on how Taeyang treated him? It didn’t make any sense.

Haneul sighed. Whatever. Dwelling on Taeyang’s strange behavior was only going to give him a headache. The only silver lining in all of this was that the rose-tinted glasses he’d been wearing when it ca to Taeyang were now thoroughly blurred.

He shook his head and grabbed a snack from the table, Haru chattering endlessly by his side while Seojun listened patiently. They passed the ti like that until, 20 minutes later, the top 10 contestants for the first round of eliminations finally arrived.

Haneul glanced toward the warehouse entrance, intending to search for Robin. But for so reason, his gaze instinctively landed on a certain soone—the very person who had been frustrating him for the past two days.

There was Taeyang, strolling in with his usual languid deanor, his gray eyes calmly scanning the room. Before their gazes could et, Haneul quickly looked away. It was then that he spotted Robin. Ignoring the fact that he had automatically sought out Taeyang first, he put on a cheerful expression and called out to Robin instead.

"Robin hyung!"

Robin turned in his direction, a bright grin lighting up his face as soon as he saw him. Without hesitation, Robin dashed toward him. Haneul did the sa, with Seojun following closely behind, and they t in the middle.

"Congratulations on making the top 10," Haneul said, his voice full of genuine happiness for the other. "I told you, you’d rank high."

"Yeah, congrats," Seojun added with a small smile.

"Thanks!" Robin said, grinning from ear to ear. "I was so nervous when my na hadn’t been called while they were announcing the 20th to 11th ranks. I was starting to panic a little, but thankfully, they called later. Honestly, I don’t know what I would’ve done if I’d been eliminated in the first round."

"That was never going to happen," Haneul said confidently, offering a reassuring smile. "You’re way too good to be eliminated so early."

"You have no idea," Seojun chid in with a slight smirk. "Haneul was completely confident in you. He never doubted for a second that you’d make it."

Robin felt a flicker of embarrassnt, but managed to brush it off with a small smile. He shifted his weight slightly, his gaze montarily dropping to the floor. Despite the mild awkwardness, he couldn’t help but feel grateful for their confidence in him.

Haneul chuckled softly at Robin’s reaction, finding it unexpectedly endearing. His attention then shifted, catching sight of Haru lingering nearby, looking as though he was itching to join their conversation but hesitant to step in. The sight amused Haneul, a small grin tugging at his lips.

With an amused smile, Haneul gently pulled Robin toward Haru. "Robin hyung, there’s soone I’d like you to et."

Not far away, Taeyang found himself—despite his better judgnt—secretly watching Haneul’s every move. He noticed how brightly Haneul congratulated Robin, and his frown deepened when he spotted Han Seojun lingering besides Haneul. The sight of an Alpha hanging around Ogas irritated him to no end, though he conveniently ignored the fact that he’d done the exact sa thing on their first day at the hotel.

The thought that Han Seojun looked vaguely familiar only fueled Taeyang’s irritation further. There was a chance that Han Seojun had been part of the final debut group in the previous world. If that were true, then it also ant that both he and Taeyang could end up debuting together in this world. With Haneul’s undeniable talent and good looks, as long as he improved his dancing, his debut seed inevitable too. Didn’t that an there was a high chance that the three of them would end up debuting together?

He couldn’t decide what annoyed him more: the thought of debuting alongside Han Seojun or the idea of Han Seojun debuting with Haneul.

While stewing in his own annoyance like a fool, Taeyang’s attention was drawn once again to Haneul, who was now pulling Robin toward a shorter kid. Monts later, the four of them were chatting away, their laughter and smiles only adding to his irritation.

As he secretly watched them, Taeyang couldn’t shake the thought that he should be the one standing there with Haneul, not Han Seojun. Yet, his own stubbornness kept him from going back on his decision to stay away. But no, it wasn’t just stubbornness. He genuinely believed that keeping his distance was what was best for Haneul.

The fact that he was willing to go to such lengths only proved how much he cared—in his own complicated way.
