HEARING the announcent, Haneul’s thoughts drifted back to the launch of Boys Odyssey in his previous world. If his mory served him right, the opening wasn’t fild on the ship but in a studio, with all 100 contestants gathered. It had been designed as both a promotional teaser and a prelude to the show’s official broadcast. Yet, it appeared that even this detail had been changed in this world.
Since it clearly wouldn’t include all 100 contestants, this opening was unlikely to air as part of the first episode or be used as a promotional teaser. How could it, when only 60 contestants were featured? It would give away far too much about the show, especially since it was being fild on the ship—a detail the production team likely wanted to keep under wraps as a surprise.
Well, so be it. As long as the changes didn’t affect him directly, it hardly mattered. Besides, every change so far had been a step in the right direction. So why would he complain?
Haneul noticed movent beside him as soone approached and placed a tray of food on the table. Glancing up, he saw Seojun settling into the seat next to him.
"Mind if I join you?" Seojun asked.
"You’re already sitting," Robin replied, raising an eyebrow. "Would you leave if we said no?"
Seojun let out a soft chuckle. "Probably not."
The three of them settled into a comfortable silence as they began eating their dinner.
"So, we’ll start filming tomorrow," Seojun said after a mont, probably alluding to the fact that the opening sequence was scheduled to be fild then.
"I’m pretty sure the caras started rolling the mont we stepped into that fancy hotel," Robin said dryly.
"I guess that’s true," Seojun said with a nod. Then, as if a thought had just struck him, he added wryly, "They’ll probably keep filming our every move from here on out."
"Do you think there are hidden caras in our cabin’s bathroom, too?" Robin asked in a feigned whisper.
"I’m sure the program won’t be that unethical," Haneul said in amusent.
There might be caras in the individual cabin rooms, but the bathrooms were definitely off-limits. Installing one there would be asking for a lawsuit. Besides, the program’s previous PD had already been replaced, and the man Haneul had t during the contract signing seed decent enough. There was no way he would deliberately do sothing that could jeopardize the show or damage his own career.
"Speaking of caras," Seojun began, a hint of curiosity in his voice, "how do you think they’re going to condense all the footage they’ve taken into episodes?"
"By focusing only on the contestants they think will create compelling stories and draw in viewers," Haneul replied matter-of-factly.
Haneul wasn’t being pessimistic—it was simply the reality of how survival programs with so many contestants operated. The production team couldn’t possibly give equal focus to everyone, so they would cherry-pick contestants who left strong impressions or brought the kind of drama that kept viewers hooked.
He could only hope that his voice, along with the ’gift’ Yeomra had given him, would be enough to secure him enough screenti for the audience to notice him. After all, starting with the next elimination round, whether a contestant stayed on the show or not would depend entirely on public votes.
Robin let out a sigh. "I just hope they give us so screenti."
After all, no matter how well they perford, if the viewers never got to see them, what would be the point?
"I don’t think Robin hyung has much to worry about," Haneul said with a reassuring smile. "You’re probably the only foreigner here who speaks Korean fluently. Plus, you’re talented and good-looking. There’s no way you won’t get plenty of screenti."
Robin blinked in surprise before a wide grin spread across his face. "Aww, Haneul... stop with the complints. You’re going to make blush."
Haneul chuckled softly, amused by Robin’s reaction and finding it unexpectedly adorable.
Haneul heard Seojun clear his throat beside him, prompting him to turn toward the other. He tilted his head slightly, wondering if Seojun had sothing to say.
"Does Haneul think the sa applies to as well?" Seojun asked, his tone light but expectant.
Robin almost snorted, barely holding back a laugh. It was so obvious that Seojun was just fishing for complints. Did he really think Haneul wouldn’t notice? Robin glanced at his friend, only to see Haneul looking like he was seriously considering Seojun’s question. He raised an eyebrow at that. Okay, maybe he was wrong—maybe Haneul wasn’t catching on after all.
Robin shook his head in disbelief. How could this friend of his be so sharp when it ca to everything else, yet completely oblivious when it ca to Alphas showing interest in him? Yes, Alphas—plural. Two, to be exact.
One of them was Han Seojun. It was pretty obvious—well, at least to soone like Robin, who was often around both him and Haneul—that Seojun had a crush on Haneul. Seojun himself probably wasn’t even aware of it, but whenever Haneul wasn’t paying attention, he’d look at him with an unmistakable softness in his gaze, almost like a loyal puppy.
Then there was Jung Taeyang. Robin couldn’t quite label what Taeyang felt for Haneul as a simple crush—it seed far too mild a word to capture the intensity behind the darkness Robin occasionally glimpsed in Taeyang’s gaze whenever he looked at Haneul. Maybe that was why Robin’s reaction to Taeyang’s interest in Haneul was far stronger than to Seojun’s. Seojun’s feelings felt harmless in comparison, almost innocent, while Taeyang’s carried an unsettling weight that was impossible to ignore.
Maybe Taeyang was aware of his own feelings, which would explain why he’d been avoiding Haneul. That was a good thing, at least—it ant he wouldn’t distract Haneul while they were competing in the program. But then Robin recalled what he had seen on the front deck earlier. His friend still seed affected by Taeyang sohow. Robin could only hope he was wrong. The last thing he wanted was for Haneul to get sidetracked because of so brooding Alpha.
