Chapter 1007: [1007] An uninvited guest

It is for this very reason that even though Nie Jiamin had given her his phone number, Xie Wanying would not dare to call and disturb the professor unless it was absolutely necessary.

“Understood, senior brother.” Xie Wanying acknowledged.

Sitting in the car, Xie Wanying reflected: Did Teacher Lu co to the conference today? She rembered that, after Teacher Lu’s grandson Zhang Shuping expressed a keen interest in the conference that evening, Teacher Lu said he would bring his grandson to see it. Could it be that they would co tomorrow if not today?

What if Teacher Lu doesn’t co tomorrow either? Xie Wanying frowned at the thought.

She called the departnt and was told by a senior colleague not to co back to the hospital and instead to go to school to rest. The next day, she rose early and hurried to the hospital. It was said that yesterday afternoon, the cardiothoracic surgery team had their final pre-operative discussion with the departnt, discussing the specific details of the collaboration between the two departnts during the surgery. Since she had not attended, she was unsure what issues were raised during the eting and hoped she could ask a colleague about it.

It was just past six o’clock, and today was bound to be the busiest day in the departnt. Three surgical demonstrations were to be live-stread, and the doctors involved in the event needed to return to the departnt early to prepare.

The nurses were busy from early morning, making pre-operative preparations for the patients to be transferred to the surgery room downstairs. The overnight doctor on duty seed to be asleep and had not gotten up.

The departnt’s corridors were quiet, likely because most of the doctors had not yet arrived.

As she turned into the doctors’ office to get the patients’ dical records and look through the pre-operative discussion notes, Xie Wanying halted abruptly at the door, wondering if she was seeing things, and a hesitant voice squeezed out of her lips: “Teacher Lu?”

Teacher Lu was indeed the epito of a teacher, walking his dical student grandson Zhang Shuping through the doctors’ office, saying as they toured, “Hepatobiliary Surgery, our hospital’s most renowned and prestigious departnt. Don’t touch anything on the desk; they’ll complain about your hands being dirty.”

“Eh?” Zhang Shuping let out a puzzled sound.

“Not that your hands are literally dirty, but the people here fear infectious diseases. Hepatitis B is not a laughing matter. They’re afraid of getting infected by you, and also afraid that you might infect them.”

Doctors are much more aware of the fearsoness of diseases and thus pay more mind to these trivial matters.

“But isn’t the main transmission route of hepatitis B through blood?”

“Hepatitis B can also be transmitted through other bodily fluids,” Teacher Lu turned back, as if ready to tap his grandson’s head with the Teaching Whip, “This place is different from the outside world; there are many patients with hepatitis B here, with hidden sources of infection everywhere. Who knows whether soone has properly disinfected? One must always be cautious of others.”

After listening to his grandmother’s words, Zhang Shuping’s face revealed a tense expression, and his gaze around him shifted as if he had suddenly found himself in a minefield, muttering, “Grandma, you didn’t ntion this when Grandpa was hospitalized here.”

“Back then, you were just a family mber, and you left after visiting your grandpa. Your situation is different now; you’re going to be a doctor one day, and you need to have this kind of preventative awareness.”

Teacher Lu always spoke bluntly. Xie Wanying recalled her first day in the Hepatobiliary Surgery departnt, how the words of education given to her by her seniors were much more obscure; perhaps it wasn’t appropriate to speak frankly in front of patients. Teachers each have their own style, and Teacher Lu’s straightforward approach was undoubtedly warmly welcod by students. Thinking about it, all her fellow junior and senior colleagues liked Teacher Lu very much.

“You’re here? Why didn’t you make a sound?” Turning around, Teacher Lu eventually noticed Xie Wanying standing at the doorway and asked.
