Chapter 115: Ergency Room 2 Overcrowded

On the way to the ergency room, Huang Zhilei said to his junior sister, “You weren’t here this morning, so when the dean ca to wish each departnt a Happy New Year and give red envelopes to the staff on duty, I took one for you.”

Xie Wanying did not expect such a surprise, and as she took the red envelope handed over by her senior brother, she said, “Thank you, senior brother.”

“Do you still need to say anything?” Huang Zhilei adjusted his glasses and joked with his junior sister.

“Senior brother, Happy New Year!” Xie Wanying said.

What a smart junior sister, Huang Zhilei couldn’t stop smiling.

The ergency room wasn’t located in the inpatient departnt or the outpatient building, but rather in a separate small building next to the outpatient departnt, with its own entrance.

...

The sound of ambulances wailing like banshees all the way to the courtyard in front of the ergency room brought to Xie Wanying’s mind the night she t Handso Cao over three years ago.

Now, a figure rushing out of the ergency room seed vaguely familiar; looking closer, it turned out to be the class monitor.

Yue Wentong, who had gone out to receive a patient, sensed sothing, turned his head, and saw Xie Wanying, his eyebrows appearing to furrow in surprise.

“Your class monitor?” Huang Zhilei asked his junior sister.

It wasn’t unexpected that senior brother would know the class monitor with his widespread reputation. Xie Wanying nodded to her senior brother in confirmation.

Yue Wentong turned back and, along with other dical staff, pushed the gurney to send the patient into the ergency room.

Following the group, Huang Zhilei and Xie Wanying stepped into the ergency room.

As expected, during the New Year period, when most of the doctors in the outpatient departnt were not consulting, the ergency room turned into a place packed to capacity with people.

The ergency hall was almost filled to the brim with patients and their families cramming together, the dical staff shouting intermittently as they maneuvered through the crowd, “Excuse , please make way, comrade, we are trying to save a patient here!”

Following behind her senior brother, Xie Wanying struggled through the congested crowd and saw Yue Wentong in front of her, stopping the gurney he was helping to push in front of the nurse’s station. It looked like this patient was going through the ergency procedures to be admitted to the inpatient departnt due to the outpatient departnt being closed for the New Year. As such, the condition of this patient might not necessarily be severe.

Busy ergency nurses were registering the patient’s basic information and had to call the cardiothoracic surgery departnt to inquire about bed availability. Yue Wentong spoke up, “It’s Professor Li’s patient.”

“Is it a bed reserved by Professor Li?” asked the nurse. “Are you helping Professor Li to receive the patient?”

“Yes,” Yue Wentong nodded. “Professor Li instructed that there’s no need for ergency processing.”

The patient’s family, eager upon hearing this, also quickly added, “We don’t need to go through the ergency room. My old man only drank so alcohol and his blood pressure shot up after eating the reunion dinner last night. His heart isn’t very good normally, so Professor Li asked us to co to the hospital to stay a few days to stabilize his condition.”

Don’t think that the patient’s family is being talkative—it’s only because they fear not being able to be admitted. Just look at the dreadful situation in the ergency room at this mont; it’s filled with patients everywhere. So are more critical patients lying in the ergency room unable to move to the inpatient departnt because there are no beds available in the departnts.

The nurse, regardless, still had to make a call to the cardiothoracic surgery departnt to confirm the bed availability. The reality was that beds were indeed in severe shortage. The nurse knew that although the departnt had been called earlier, they had said there were no beds available at all.

While the patient was stable, Yue Wentong waited for the nurse to complete the procedures and turned to see where Xie Wanying had gone.

The only girl in their class had always inspired awe among them—a bunch of male academic achievers. Yes, it was awe! This was sothing the group of male scholars had never anticipated or expected from the start of their dical studies.
