However, the patient’s blood pressure dropped a bit.

When the systolic pressure was asured at eighty-six, Student Geng quickly took another asurent to verify the reading and avoid error.

The ambulance emitted a couple of clanging sounds.

Geng Yongzhe turned his head and saw Student Xie bending down to grab the ergency dical kit, and couldn’t help but utter, "Yingying, be careful."

He was afraid she might get hurt; the limited space inside the vehicle made it easy to injure oneself when performing any operation.

"It’s fine," Xie Wanying replied without looking up, pulling out the ergency kit from under the ambulance seat with force and swiftly opening the box.

Inside were a few bags of saline solution as usual. She took out all the fluids, picked up a roll of bandage, and pulled out the bandage head to bind these infusion bags. Clearly, this was to create a pressure device similar to a hot water bottle.

Geng Yongzhe saw this and promptly moved the blanket covering the patient’s abdon aside.

The gauze covering the incised area was not soaking much blood; it wasn’t bleeding from the incision. The moisture-proof cloth under the patient, however, showed more enlarged fresh bloodstains. It was bleeding from the vaginal area.

After childbirth, whether natural or a Cesarean Section, a woman will naturally have lochia discharge, which is normal postpartum vaginal bleeding. Normal lochia discharge is very minimal, similar to a nstrual flow. If it exceeds normal levels, it’s considered postpartum hemorrhage.

There are many causes of postpartum hemorrhage. Given that this is a post-Cesarean Section patient, and the surgery was personally perford by Beidou Third Hospital’s Chief Surgeon, retained placental issues or inadequate uterus hemostasis and closing of the abdominal cavity are unlikely. The most likely cause is uterine atony, which is a common major cause of postpartum hemorrhage. As for the rarer condition of amniotic fluid embolism, it’s sothing no clinician wants to consider, although it always needs to be kept in mind.

If the bleeding is not too excessive and caused by uterine atony, it can be treated clinically with oxytocin infusion.

The obstetricians at Beidu Third Hospital are cautious experts who would not use such treatnts excessively or beyond their limits. The effects of oxytocin can be both good and bad; more isn’t always better. The known case of amniotic fluid embolism might be partially caused by overly strong uterine contractions. Using oxytocin prophylactically might unconsciously create new risk points.

Now, oxytocin could be administered, but without the instructor, a dical order cannot be issued. The two students and the nurse do not have prescription rights to use the dication, so without drugs, other hemostatic asures must be taken. Clinically, another non-drug treatnt for postpartum hemorrhage is pressing sandbags on the abdon. Just as with administering oxytocin, there is no clinical data supporting that pressing sandbags on a woman without positive symptoms or condition tendencies is beneficial right after surgery, so the Beidu Third Hospital doctors temporarily deed it unnecessary to press sandbags on this patient.

The instructors, experienced in the clinic, thought that spending half an hour on the road would not be a major issue, and if anything arose, Fang Ze could handle it. Little did they expect to spend more than half an hour, a full forty minutes on the road. Maybe due to the bumps or the weather, postpartum bleeding began.

What exactly happened ahead? Why was the traffic jam beyond what the instructors expected today?

The nurse sitting in the passenger seat hurriedly opened the door and got out, running ahead to find out what happened, and returned to inform everyone in the vehicle: "There was one traffic accident followed by another, so the road is completely blocked."

By all ans, do not complain about the traffic police. One officer was directing and clearing traffic when he was hit and seriously injured by a vehicle involved in the second accident, and is now in critical condition. The responding dical personnel at the scene are currently performing ergency rescue on the injured officer.
