Chapter 177: 【177】My childhood friend is sick

“Yes,” Xie Wanying said with certainty, like her senior sister, she was determined to strive for a chance to work at Guoxie.

She had been deeply impressed by the teachers from Guoxie the night before. Every dical student dreams of working at the best hospital with the best colleagues after graduation.

In the morning, she admired the snow; at noon, she had lunch at the school cafeteria and took her childhood friend for a stroll around the dical school. She ca back and took a nap in the afternoon. When Xie Wanying got up, she found her friend still asleep, so she picked up a dical book to browse through.

One after another, her senior colleagues from the clinic called to check on her. Doctor Lin, Doctor Kim, and Doctor Jiang who had returned.

Doctor Jiang had it the toughest; it was said that he didn’t return to the hospital until three or four in the morning, having been on-site directing ergency response the whole ti and eventually bringing back a critically ill patient.

It was only after his return that he heard about her injury, and knowing she was resting, he waited until the afternoon to call and inquire about her condition.

“It’s nothing serious now, Teacher Jiang.”

“Rest well. You must take the dicine your senior brother prescribed for you.”

“I understand, Teacher.”

“Call anyti if you need anything.” Finally, Doctor Jiang praised her, “Even our hospital’s ‘Robot’ allowed you to perform a puncture; it shows you have the potential to be a surgeon.”

Xie Wanying listened carefully to the teacher’s praise, being very cautious not to beco arrogant. She kept the lesson she learned from Teacher Fu the night before close to heart.

After answering a few calls, she looked up and saw it was three or four in the afternoon; her friend was still nested in the comforter and hadn’t gotten up. Xie Wanying sensed sothing was wrong and quickly went over to touch her friend’s forehead: Fever!

“I thought my throat was just a bit sore, that sleeping more would help,” Wu Lixuan said as she opened her eyes, “I’m sorry.”

“Why are you apologizing to ? Didn’t you say to find if you’re sick?” Xie Wanying scolded her for not speaking up when feeling unwell.

“Right!” Wu Lixuan rembered what she had said and nodded.

Xie Wanying helped her put on warm clothes, saying, “Co on, I’ll take you to our hospital’s ergency departnt. Your tonsils are inflad and might abscess, we must hurry and get an injection.”

Wu Lixuan didn’t expect it to be serious and was scared, asking, “Why is it so serious that I need an injection? Isn’t it just a sore throat?”

“If it gets worse, you won’t be able to eat anything,” Xie Wanying “scared” her friend with factual dical knowledge.

The two of them went to the ergency departnt. It was the day shift now; surely Doctor Jiang, Doctor Lin, and Doctor Kim, who worked the night shift, had gone off duty. Xie Wanying went straight to the nurses’ station for help.

The nurse told her, “There are several doctors on duty today, including one of your classmates.”

Zhao Zhaowei is on duty? Wasn’t he on night shift with her?

“It’s Li Qi’an,” because of her, the nurses were now very attentive to the students from her class.

It turned out that Li Qi’an was following Doctor Kang from gastroenterology in the ergency departnt for the day.

Hearing his classmate was there, Li Qi’an ran to the nurse’s station and started teasing Xie Wanying upon seeing her, “We’ve all been talking about Zhao Zhaowei. Saying he’s a big guy who can’t be used as a human cushion, letting you, a skinny one, sit in the back to escort the patient. Is he silly or what?”

This was a result Zhao Zhaowei had not foreseen; he thought his classmates would call him blind, but instead, they criticized him for not having the brains to act as a human cushion.

“He’s not that heavy—” Xie Wanying defended her classmate Zhao Zhaowei for a mont.

“Forget it. He’s at least several tens of pounds heavier than you. He’s 1.75 ters tall.”
