Chapter 628: Patient suddenly ca for help [628] Chapter 628: Patient suddenly ca for help [628] “He’s gone to a eting at the hospital administration building. I estimate he’ll be back soon since even the hospital leaders have to clock out. You can wait for him in the office,” He Guangyou said, taking the consultation request form from her hands to look it over, “Do you specifically need to speak with Teacher Tao personally about this patient? Does he have to personally go see the patient?”

“No, the request form doesn’t specify any doctor,” Xie Wanying replied.

“Oh,” He Guangyou realized it was a private matter and gave a knowing smile, “You can go in and wait.”

Xie Wanying entered the doctors’ office.

At the end of the workday, the Hepatobiliary Surgery departnt’s office was almost empty. Zhao Zhaowei and Li Qi’an followed her in and took seats on two chairs. Zhao Zhaowei subconsciously moved his chair into a corner.

Unlike the sowhat cluttered General Surgery Departnt Two office, the Hepatobiliary Surgery office was unusually tidy, with a large clean conference table in the center, its surface bare save for a shiny glass pane.

The three of them restrained themselves automatically, not daring to reach out and touch the office desk.

Soon after, Qiu Ruiyun brought Xiao Song into the office for a tour, introducing him to the others, “In a couple of weeks, she’ll be working in our Hepatobiliary Surgery departnt, just like you. Her na is Xie Wanying, from our Guoxie Eight-Year Program class of ’96, currently in her internship. — Xie Wanying, this is Song Xueling, who has been hired by our hospital this year as a clinical doctorate in surgery. He’s undergoing standardized training in our Hepatobiliary Surgery departnt first.”

They had briefly t at the staircase landing, but now it was mainly to be acquainted with each other’s nas.

“He said his na is Song Xueling, have you heard of him?” Li Qi’an quietly asked Zhao Zhaowei.

“He said he’s from Beidu, how would I know anything about Beidu,” Zhao Zhaowei replied, trying to stay out of sight from the Hepatobiliary Surgery people, fearing being noticed by the senior doctors.

Her phone rang. Xie Wanying reached into her lab coat pocket to get her phone and saw that it was a call from her childhood friend.

“Li Xuan, what’s up?”

“Yingying, are you at the hospital?”

Li Xuan must have co to bring tea leaves to the senior sister and teacher again, Xie Wanying said, “I am.”

“There’s this cleaner, Aunt Li, in our company building. Her daughter-in-law has been vomiting continuously for days. She went to a nearby clinic, but they couldn’t treat her properly, even with an injection it didn’t improve. I’m planning to bring her to you to check what’s wrong.”

“Li Xuan, I’m just an intern.”

“It’s okay, just take a look at her for now. We need to figure out what to do next. I know you can’t prescribe dication.”

Across the phone, Xie Wanying sensed so urgency, “Have you arrived at our hospital?”

“Yes, she threw up a lot today. We intended to get her registered at your hospital’s ergency room, but only when we arrived did we find out that we couldn’t register there. They told us to try registering for an outpatient appointnt tomorrow. But registering for an outpatient appointnt at your hospital is even harder.”

Her friend’s words confird that the ergency room was now overwheld. Average patients under normal circumstances couldn’t get an appointnt until it was a life-saving situation; the ergency room only accepted the most critical cases. And there was no need to ntion trying to get an outpatient appointnt at Guoxie, where family mbers would stay up all night in hopes of securing one, sotis for a whole week without any guarantee of success.

Multiple episodes of vomiting could indicate a serious illness; this patient likely couldn’t wait. Being sent to other hospitals was also a big issue since they hadn’t been able to diagnose the problem accurately.

Considering the situation and rembering Mother Dongzi’s lesson from last ti, Xie Wanying made a decisive decision, “Bring her up. I’m on the ninth floor in Hepatobiliary Surgery. I’ll go and see what’s wrong with her.” Xie Wanying made a preliminary plan to assess the patient’s condition before consulting her teacher.
