Chapter 917: Fight the doctor
The child sleeping on his mother’s lap was startled by his mother’s voice and started to cry.
“Stop crying, your dad has gone to settle the score with that doctor,” Dahui’s Wife scolded her son.
The child, scared, closed his eyes tightly.
“What are you spaced out for? Go to the inpatient departnt and look for soone. Since she let Wengui’s sister get on the ambulance, she must be there accompanying Wengui and the others,” said Dahui’s Wife, assuming she had made the right call.
Da Hui clenched his fists and walked out of the ergency room.
Having barely slept last night, Xie Wanying got up at five in the morning to brush her teeth and wash her face, ready to take over Qiu Ruiyun’s shift. As she stepped out of the duty room and entered the ward, Qiu Ruiyun told her, “We drew blood for tests over half an hour ago. You should go check with the lab.”
It seed she had to go to the lab herself to expedite the results. Xie Wanying, tasked with this mission, walked out of the ward area.
As she reached the stairwell, soone ca towards her, hastening their steps upon seeing her and throwing a punch towards her face.
Caught completely off-guard, Xie Wanying couldn’t fully dodge the blow, and her left cheek felt the brute force smash near her mouth. She quickly moved backwards, and due to her swift retreat, the second punch from the assailant missed.
Not expecting her to dodge, Da Hui glared with his eyes wide open, frantically looking for a weapon.
This person was mad. It was a doctor she could tell. It was no use fighting a madman who cared nothing for his own life, she thought, so Xie Wanying turned around and ran. She couldn’t lead him towards the ward area. She sprinted past Da Hui and rushed down the stairs.
She moved as agilely as a rabbit, seemingly impossible to catch, Da Hui’s eyes reddened and his nostrils flared like a train’s smokestack. He suddenly turned and pursued Xie Wanying.
The two of them reached the hospital lobby downstairs. A figure in front saw them chasing each other and imdiately rushed forward.
Seeing it was Wengui running towards them with his sleeves rolled up, ready for a fight, Xie Wanying grabbed the boy and said, “Go, go, go, find security!”
Fighting was out of the question, especially since the boy could get involved. Xie Wanying would never do anything that might needlessly drag a child into trouble.
Held back by Xie Wanying, Wengui struggled slightly. He had wanted to beat up Da Hui and his family since last night when they had tried to hijack the ambulance, wishing his sister dead. This morning, this guy dared to assault the doctor who saved his sister’s life, and he felt he must beat him to death.
“Let’s go!” Xie Wanying forcefully pulled the boy again and yelled toward the security booth for help, “Soone help—”
Luckily, the outpatient hall of the hospital was almost empty so early in the morning, and her cry for help quickly spread. A security guard in the booth heard her cries, popped his head out to see the trouble, and ran out with a baton to help.
Xie Wanying dragged the boy into the security booth first for safety.
Da Hui charged forward but stopped when he t the security guard holding a baton.
“Call the police.” Now safe for the mont, Xie Wanying picked up her phone to dial 110.
Wengui was amazed at her composure, especially seeing her swollen left cheek: Didn’t it hurt her?
Outside the window of the security booth, a voice called out, “Yingying, what are you doing here?”
Looking up, Xie Wanying saw Senior Kang, who had promised to bring her breakfast last night.
Kang Mingzhu quickened her step into the security booth, imdiately sensing sothing was wrong. She gasped in shock at the sight of her swollen face and shouted, “Who did this?”
“Outside—” Wengui said, pointing towards Da Hui outside.
Kang Mingzhu turned to the security guard and yelled, “Don’t let that criminal who assaulted the doctor escape!”
Hearing that the man before them had assaulted a doctor, the security guard advanced with his baton raised. Da Hui, seeing the situation had turned against him, turned to run. Seizing the opportunity, the security guard lunged forward and grabbed him by the shoulders.
