"Hmm!"
A soft grunt ca from the conqueror revealing only his eyes.
The Half-Elf thief imdiately felt the Black Wing Wyvern beneath him freeze; its head stopped swaying, its wings ceased beating, and its high-held poison tail drooped.
The other party wasn’t bluffing; he did indeed have absolute control over these wyverns.
Seeing the Half-Elf thief successfully ride the Black Wing Wyvern, the other two mbers of the thief trio exchanged glances, hesitantly proceeding towards the other two wyverns, mimicking the riding process.
Although they could clearly feel the reluctance of the two Black Wing Wyverns, they never dared to express it, let alone launch an attack.
Gaven once again spread his dragon wings, flying towards the location of the Cloud Manta, saying to the Half-Elf thief, "You’re a smart person, so I won’t beat around the bush. You’ve seen secrets you shouldn’t have seen; even if you return the Cloud Manta Egg to , I can’t just let you leave.
I have no reason to harm your lives. Once the secret of the Cloud Manta and the flying dragon flock is no longer a secret in my hands, I will let you go.
However, I see you’re quite capable, and I have a task that suits you."
"Can we at least hear what the task is?" The thief trio was not surprised by Gaven’s honesty, nor did anyone question his domineering behavior.
Anyone who made a na for themselves as a thief has surely rolled in the mud at the bottom of society.
Compared to true evildoers, this conqueror’s actions are already considered refined and sensible.
"I need you to find the Cloud Manta in the Green Wilderness, track its whereabouts. If you agree to take on this task, these three wyverns will serve as your temporary mounts. The reward is one hundred thousand gold upon success.
This is a long-term task. If you manage to discover the whereabouts of other Cloud Mantens and track their locations or nests, each cos with a reward of a hundred thousand, while the wyverns follow at ten thousand each." Gaven laid out his ultimate purpose.
This thief trio had already proven their capability in action, especially that Half-Elf thief, who was resourceful and versatile, a true expert in gathering intelligence.
Gaven had the Shadow Wing Guild, true, but in these tis, talented people are hard to find.
Like the Half-Elf thief, the entire Shadow Wing couldn’t match even a handful, and his ventures were vast—expanding Shadow Wing tenfold wouldn’t be enough.
The value of the Cloud Manta and flying dragons had manifested, making it worth setting a special project for Gaven.
The thief trio had co knocking on the door, and Gaven naturally wouldn’t let them slip away.
"The rewards are so generous, and the task isn’t overly dangerous. I doubt anyone would refuse. But the question is, my lord, can you trust us to leave?" The Half-Elf thief didn’t believe the other party would overlook any detail.
"I will naturally make so necessary arrangents on you. Rest assured, as long as you don’t disclose my secret of gathering Cloud Mantas and wyverns, you won’t face any harm.
When necessary, it can even serve as your support and amulet. This state lasts only until the secret is no longer one, at which point I will remove my restrictions.
At that ti, depending on our cooperation, we can decide whether to proceed with deeper collaboration."
Just as the thief trio didn’t trust him, Gaven wouldn’t trust three strangers.
Gaven’s thod of control was akin to Shadow Wing, converting their shadow into a shade. Daphne had developed a new thod using ritual arrays infused with Undead Divinity to directly extract part of the soul from living people and rge it with shadows, forming controlled shades—simple and efficient.
The thief trio exchanged glances, seemingly seeking their companions’ opinions. The human female thief couldn’t help but ask, "If we refuse the lord’s proposal, how would you deal with us? I an hypothetically."
"This secret hasn’t reached the point where it requires death to be kept. If you don’t wish to cooperate, I won’t harm you, but your personal freedom will certainly be temporarily restricted; I’d have to invite you to be guests at Colossus City for a ti."
"And the ans of restriction during cooperation?"
"That’s a business secret. You need to agree to the cooperation for to tell you, but I can guarantee it won’t harm your lives. After all, it wouldn’t benefit in the slightest; I need people to help with tasks." Gaven’s answer was highly persuasive, at least more so than making solemn oaths.
Though the gods existed in Felen, it wasn’t uncommon to see people masquerading under the guise of the Main God, so making false oaths was not unheard of.
Especially with the presence of demons and devils, who specialize in opposing and deceiving the gods.
"Can you give us so ti to discuss and consider?" the Half-Elf thief inquired.
"Certainly, the cooperation proposal remains open," Gaven replied graciously.
During their exchange, they returned to the previous battlefield.
The Cloud Manta had reascended. Since Gaven’s attacks had been restrained, they hadn’t inflicted devastating damage. Even without Shanoba’s assistance in healing, it could regenerate by itself; now, it’s rely recovering faster.
This is a perfect way to build a rapport that Shanoba wouldn’t miss.
But without special abilities like Dragon Dog Mutual Aid assisting, gaining the Cloud Manta’s favor wasn’t easy—even with the Command Bracelet, it at most stopped attacking them.
"Did you really capture the Cloud Manta? How is that possible?"
"You weren’t actually after the Cloud Manta Egg?"
"I’ve never heard of such a gigantic magical creature being captured. How did you manage it?"
"Hiring us to track other Cloud Mantens’ locations—are you planning large-scale taming?"
The thief trio exclaid in disbelief. Previously guessing that Gaven and the others were attempting to ta an adult Cloud Manta was one thing.
Actually seeing them succeed in taming it was another altogether.
