Chapter 1678: Chapter 825: Unexpected Complications (Part 3)

On the other side of the valley, he just went all out in collecting these special creatures.

It’s just how strange things work out; when you have no need for them, it feels like these annoying creatures are everywhere, but when you’re keen to collect them, it’s difficult to find any trace of them.

Not many were captured on the other side of the valley, but here in the Great Valley, we encountered them in large groups.

This can be considered an aftershock of the Withering War, as these creatures were driven out by the Withering Ones from the surroundings of the Withering Forest, along with the beasts, although their activity is underground, and the Withering Ones pose relatively little threat to them.

They instinctively avoid danger and stay away from that land which has already been withered and corrupted.

“This couldn’t be simpler, we just need to follow the vent holes and hunting holes they leave on the ground. These creatures don’t feel safe above ground, even when traveling, they dig tunnels while they eat, hunt, and move along.

Therefore, their speed of progress is very slow. If all goes well, we need only travel ten kiloters north to find their main group. They ought to be trying to migrate to Rosselin Forest, where the decayed soil in the forest is their favorite, and from which they can obtain plenty of flora and fauna.”

Cavalry Squad Captain Mihayou is also an excellent Ranger, having thorough knowledge of the habits of such pests, “If Lord is interested in these pests, our destination, Ashanas, should fulfill your wishes. The soil there is soft and nourished by Lake Asen year-round, making it a paradise for burrowing animals. Not only are there a remarkable number of Burrowing Worms, but there are also no fewer than a dozen Shark Homing Beasts active.

It is also known as the Cheese Plains, because the many burrows in the soil are as nurous as the holes in cheese. One wrong step could easily create a new hole.”

“Great, in that case, I must go see for myself. But for now, the most important thing is to root out these Burrowing Worms to prevent them from harming the forest or making a coback to destroy the roads.” Gaven was quite familiar with the na Ashanas.

Because it’s located on the war front, bordered by the Great Valley’s Laisel Forest, Cesk, and Lake Asen, forming a plain squeezed between the three.

That area is technically under Cesk’s jurisdiction, yet practically, like Klonte Town, it belongs to an unregulated area not yet developed or settled on a large scale.

“Commander, you can count on it.” Cavalry Squad Captain Mihayou patted his chest in assurance, then gave a whistle and led a squad of Rangers to track the Burrowing Worms.

With the help of accompanying Druids and Witches, pulling out the trapped Tower War Chariot was no trouble at all.

Gaven looked at the sky and decisively ordered the War Chariot Legion to camp there, allowing the War Chariot Team Leads an opportunity to check for omissions and evaluate today’s successes and failures.

Even if the War Chariot Legion moved faster, it wouldn’t make much difference, as the Gnoll Road Building Team’s speed is limited. Completing the remaining road will take at least ten days.

This ans the War Chariot Legion can afford to travel sixty kiloters a day on average.

Today is the first day; there’s no need to rush. Once well-adjusted, traveling one hundred kiloters a day should be quite easy.

“Great Druid, could you please gather the Druids capable of performing Earthquake Art? I will soon need them.” Gaven began preparations to capture the Burrowing Worms.

These large beasts aren’t difficult to deal with. If faced head-on, even a fledgling adventure group could overturn them.

The problem is they would never do that; once they encounter a threat beyond their ability to resist, they retreat deeper into their own burrows.

Following them blindly into their burrows would lead to disastrous outcos.

Don’t be fooled by the size of their tunnels; although spacious enough for an average adult male to pass through, they are extrely unstable with twists and turns. Even a slight mistake could get one stuck inside or even buried alive.

If the Burrowing Worms return for a counterattack, the hunters quickly beco the hunted.

“That’s easy.” Druid Hanso imdiately gathered eight Druids with a professional level over sixteen.

Earthquake Art is their regular skill; upon reaching the occupational level of sixteen, they can directly learn it through the Magic Network.

“Please employ Earthquake Art to collapse and fill the tunnels in these areas previously excavated by the Burrowing Worms,” Gaven directed, pointing at the portion of Tarthan Road traversed by the worms.

“I’ll do it!” Druid Hanso now catered to Gaven’s every request.

Honestly, he was also sowhat bewildered by Gaven’s recent series of impressive combination punches, which left him feeling a bit dazed.

He had originally believed when he understood Gaven well enough, Gaven would counter with another stunning move, numbing him with another powerful blow.

Hanso had reckoned Gaven’s plan to develop the Great Valley would take until spring next year and require continual advancent over several, perhaps ten years.

However, now it appeared Gaven wouldn’t wait that long at all but rather utilized every mont to its full extent.

All forms of manpower, resources, including casting ability, were employed to the fullest by him.

Hanso was determined to see what kind of commotion the young commander could stir up in the Great Valley.

The Great Druid was unaware that he wasn’t alone in his thoughts, as even the exalted All Gods had similar sentints.

There is a considerable difference between Spellcasters, Mages, Priests, and Druids.

Mages focus on controlling and shaping Magic Power, Priests use faith to guide Divine Power, while Druids emphasize perceiving nature, resonating with it, and then utilizing their own Will to influence nature’s response.

Earthquake Art, being a nature-related spell, is particularly so.

One could see Druid Hanso’s concentration, gathering of elental forces around him, causing the earth beneath him to shake violently, pebbles bouncing up off the ground; it’s hard to remain standing on them unsteadily shaking ground.

This tremor reached its peak after one round, and with Hanso’s booming shout, multiple fractures appeared simultaneously, revealing tunnels of varying depths, the deepest exceeding one ter, the shallowest around thirty centiters.

Hanso followed suit with three more Earthquake Arts before finally dealing with all problematic sections.
