642: Chapter 482 The likes of Chicken Thieves and Dogs_2 642: Chapter 482 The likes of Chicken Thieves and Dogs_2 Over the next three days, apart from the unshakable Enlightennt Tree, Gaven spent all his ti in the abandoned quarry.

Just as Gaven had predicted, as ti went on, the number of Gnolls they could gather each day dwindled.

Once the total number reached five hundred, they could only find a few dozen Gnolls daily.

The effort wasn’t proportional to the returns, so Gaven called a halt to the recruitnt and focused wholeheartedly on rebuilding the quarry.

Considering the pitiful state of the Gnolls in the Stone Bridge Hills, just the slightest improvent in their living conditions would likely lead the wild Gnolls to seek refuge with them on their own.

Gos brought a peculiar-looking humanoid creature to Gaven and said with extre fawning, “Lord, your ingenious planning and simple strategies have flushed out the monsters here.

This is Dakar, the leader of the local freaks.”

Turning to the deford man with arrogance, he continued, “Standing before you is the King of Ten Thousand Dragons, the holy Guardian of Dragon Oak Territory, Lord Gaven.

If you have any requests, speak to the Lord.”

Gos exemplified the saying ‘two-faced’ with his actions.

In front of Gaven, he was nothing but a nodding yes-man.

In the presence of these outsiders, however, he took on the air of a noble envoy of the Lord.

Gaven’s gaze inevitably fell upon the deford creature, his eyes reflecting a probing curiosity.

The creature had the upper body of a human but the lower half of a horse.

At first glance, he appeared to be a Half-Centaur, but upon closer inspection, it was clear he lacked the natural harmony that true Half-Centaurs possess.

The lower half was that of a robust warhorse, yet the upper half was that of an old man.

Where the two halves joined, there were shockingly prominent suture scars.

It was as if two completely different creatures had been forcibly patched together.

Yet, bizarrely, instead of dying, the creature could walk like a Half-Centaur.

The mystery likely lay in the strange Negative Energy that suffused him.

This deford individual wasn’t a true living thing; rather, he was half-human-half-Undead.

His human half was alive while his equine half teed with the force of death, akin to a morbid apparatus.

The forces of life and death achieved a peculiar Balance within this creature.

This deford man, nad Dakar, humbled himself before Gaven, almost to the point of groveling, “Dakar has seen Lord Gaven.

I co representing the freaks of the mine, hoping that the Lord might spare us a lifeline.

If the Lord would but let us go, we are willing to leave this place entirely and never return.

In return, we are prepared to offer all our possessions to the Lord.”

Even the not-so-intelligent species such as Goblins and Gnolls would seek to settle things favorably when at a disadvantage, let alone other more sentient beings.

Many issues were resolved through negotiation, with force being a last resort.

The freaks in the mines were no different.

The hovering young Red Dragon above the quarry was an insurmountable terror they could not contend with, not to ntion Gaven, who could command it.

Offering wealth in exchange for Gaven’s rcy was their best option.

“Tell your story,” Gaven said, not imdiately committing to any response, but asked with curiosity.

Pain and rage surged across Dakar’s face.

“We’re just a group of desperate wretches.

That bastard Delroz committed atrocities against us, turning us into beings neither human nor ghost.

Luckily, he never ca back after entering the underground portal, and we seized the chance to escape his subterranean laboratory.

But our grotesque appearances make it impossible for us to return to human society.

I used to quarry here, knowing there was a refuge, so I fled to this place.

We ask for nothing more than the chance to survive.”

“A portal?

You an to say, there’s a portal beneath that villa?” Gaven suddenly realized the implications.

No wonder Mother Gao Ser dared to purchase that building.

After all, a portal is an inanimate object, posing no danger if one does not intentionally enter it.

Even if it led to unknown and potentially dangerous places, it was much easier to secure a portal than it was to erect a sturdy construction.

If the exploration turned out to be a success, the value of a portal could be imasurable.

“Yes,” Dakar affird, “but the portal doesn’t appear consistently; it always takes the form of Mist.”

To information that held no personal consequence, the deford man was naturally generous.

“Allowing you to leave is a matter of a few words, but where do you plan to go after leaving here?” Gaven inquired.

Dakar’s expression was one of despair and wrath, “I do not know.

We can only take it one step at a ti.

Common folk will never accept our horrid appearances.

They would treat us as monsters.

We have no choice but to continue deeper into the mountains, seeking a new place of refuge.”

“Then how about I offer you an option?

Accept employnt from ,” Gaven suggested, pointing to the abandoned quarry, “I am planning to rebuild this quarry using Gnolls.

They will not discriminate against you, and you can help them with tasks they are not skilled at.

As long as you assist with sincerity, I will ensure you are provided for, no longer holess, and no longer in danger for your lives.”

Gaven never considered himself a good person, but if it was convenient, he didn’t mind lending a helping hand to those marginalized, giving them a chance to live.
