686: Chapter 497 Farewell Banquet_1 686: Chapter 497 Farewell Banquet_1 “I’ll have Roderick specifically arrange for so Gnolls to work with you.

Besides that, when you have ti, you can look into enlightening so trees to serve your purposes, especially those tall trees on the farm.

Enlighten them if possible; if not, find a way to move them to more remote areas.

Once we make tools tailored for the Enlightened Trees, they can help with plowing and seeding.”

Bishop is a bona fide Druid, capable of casting fifth ring Enlightennt spells.

With the right tools, every enlightened tree can beco a multi-purpose automatic farming machine.

Equipped with a large plow, they can till the land, and with a seeder, they can perform seeding, even of multiple rows at once.

There’s no need—rooted in the soil and drawing nutrients, they can also act as guardians of the land, repelling beasts.

Even the temporary hos of the Pikespirits can be placed on them.

Tead up with Pike spirit Druids, they are the perfect match for farming.

“Leave the Enlightening of trees to .

The task of customizing tools is for the Lord to handle,” Bishop said, not refusing the suggestion but rather appearing eager to try.

When he first arrived at the Weizemay Manor, he criticized Gaven’s insistence on using Enlightennt spells in daily farming as an abuse of the Dragon Oak Mother Tree’s grace, a destructive act toward nature.

But as the number of Treants and Enlightened Trees around Gaven grew, as they perford more tasks and affected more people, Bishop’s own philosophy began to shift as well.

Could he too make use of these Enlightened Trees to accomplish far more than he could on his own, to influence even more people?

So, when he advanced to Professional Level ten, the first fifth-ring spell he chose was Enlightennt.

“Could you cast a Weeding and Fertilizing Technique to take a look?” Gaven asked, itching with curiosity since it was an innovative spell proposed by him.

“Sure.” Bishop didn’t waste words.

After surveying the surroundings, he flew straight to an area with exceptionally dense vines and began to cast his spell with focused composure.

A unique magic power began to converge around him.

This is the uniqueness of magic: the asure of how much magic power one can wield is not seen in body size but in the strength of their spiritual consciousness, in their affinity with magic power.

As the magic power gathered, the vines, thorns, and wild grasses in front of Bishop withered at a visible rate, eventually turning into dust that gently fell to the ground.

Soon, in front of him appeared an irregularly shaped clearing several tens of ters wide and hundreds of ters long.

Most of the plants there were swept clean, leaving only five large trees as thick as people standing upright in their place.

Bishop kicked off with an advanced Weeding and Fertilizing Technique, covering an impressive area of sixteen acres, creating a powerful visual effect.

In many spell descriptions, there are specifications like radii or diaters of the affected area.

So of these descriptions are very precise, and unless other Supermagic Feats or enhancents are used, it’s hard to exceed them.

The Fireball Technique is an example of this.

Others describe a total affected area that can be fine-tuned according to the caster’s will or adjusted automatically during the effect process.

The Weeding and Fertilizing Technique belongs to the forr category, whereas spells like the Mist Spell or Death Cloud Spell belong to the latter.

“Good, good, good, this spell is even better and more powerful than I had imagined,” Gaven said with a face full of joy, singing praises, “Next, I’ll need to trouble you, sir, to also modify the Plant Growth and Pest Repellent spells in this direction.

For Plant Growth, mainly to lower the casting requirents, preferably to have a lesser and a greater version for a flexible choice, just like Weeding and Fertilizing Technique.

As for Pest Repellent, it should beco a large-area pest extermination and repellent.”

Plant Growth, like Plant Withering, is a third-ring spell.

Apart from reversing the capabilities of Plant Withering, it has another use: to increase the yield of crops within a five hundred ter diater by one-third, a true fertilizing technique.

The main purpose of Gaven asking Bishop to modify it is to polarize it.

Once upgraded to the fourth ring, the casting range should at least double, making the work of high-level Druids much more efficient.

Reduced to the second ring, though the range would be halved, the number of people who could cast it would greatly increase.

There’s only a one-ring difference between the second and third rings, but for spellcasters, it can an a difference of up to two Professional Levels—a third Level can cast second-ring spells, while at least a fifth Level is needed for third-ring ones.

The beginning difficulty for spellcasters is much higher than for other professions, especially within the first five Professional Levels.

Before the third ring, the spells usually have lower power and smaller effects.

Take the Weeding and Fertilizing Technique, for example, the effect of the third ring is four tis that of the second, and the fourth ring reaches sixteen tis, with effects scaling non-linearly.

The impact and experience generated are naturally not on the sa level.

As for Pest Repellent, it is a fourth-ring spell.

However, this spell mainly targets clusters of insects, not pest control for fields.

To apply it to farming, it must undergo significant improvent, much like Plant Withering did.

“Plant Growth is manageable, just a matter of simplification and perfection,” Bishop evidently had already given this issue so thought, “The challenge lies in Pest Repellent, as its initial target scope differs, requiring substantial modifications.”

“It doesn’t necessarily have to repel all pests—targeting could be specific, like the boll weevil for cotton or the aphids for wheat.

The more targeted, the lower I believe the casting requirents will be, and the wider the coverage area.” Gaven’s thod completely borrows from Earth’s pesticide approach.
