Xue Rui quickly responded with a smile.

She turned back and glared at Labette.

She had lost all her patience,

"Enough!"

Xue Rui tried to calm her voice, "None of the dangers you ntioned have happened yet!"

"Just wait, it will happen,"

Labette stubbornly muttered under his breath, his ears twitching uneasily.

Xue Rui sighed deeply, the white fur on her face trembling slightly with her breath,

"No matter what happens, I hope you don’t speak again."

Xue Rui was really irritated, she didn’t want soone like Labette to et the Lord.

Xue Rui was very afraid he would offend that Lord, causing her to lose the hard-won opportunity.

"When we get to the town, don’t speak your broken Empire tongue, thank you for your cooperation."

After Xue Rui finished the reminder, Labette continued to mumble, not stopping.

It just turned from loud noise to quiet grumbling.

Xue Rui no longer paid attention to Labette.

Following the soldiers’ footsteps, they finally arrived at Frost Leaf Town before dark.

But this ti, Luo De did not et them; Lawrence was in charge of them.

"The Lord has other matters to attend to, and I will arrange the work for the next few days."

Lawrence’s tone was calm and asured, with a hint of arrogance.

In the half a year working in Frost Leaf Town, Lawrence had gradually embraced his role.

From a previously humble and flattering rchant, he had beco a slightly arrogant and sharp noble steward.

"Alright, thank you, esteed Lord Lawrence."

Xue Rui bowed, and the other Snow Rabbit People followed suit.

Except for the stubborn Labette.

Lawrence didn’t mind but silently noted it.

He wouldn’t score them, just relay everyone’s performance to the Lord Luo De.

"We can start working anyti, Lord Lawrence, please lead the way," Xue Rui said.

"It’s already evening today, we’ll start tomorrow morning."

Lawrence stood tall, looking down at the Snow Rabbit People in front of him,

"You haven’t eaten, have you?"

"Yes, Lord Lawrence, we’ve been on the road, only had so jerky."

Xue Rui couldn’t help licking her lips, reminiscing the taste of jerky.

The jerky was shared by the soldier brother.

"Follow , there should be so leftovers in the slaves’ canteen."

Lawrence turned around, waving them to follow.

"Are they really giving us leftovers?!"

Labette said discontentedly in a lowered voice.

"Shut up, Labette!"

Xue Rui glared at him, full of displeasure.

Xue Rui quickly motioned her clan to follow, ignoring Labette behind her.

Then, guided by Lawrence, they passed through alleys.

The people they encountered bowed or nodded to Lawrence, making Xue Rui aware of Lawrence’s status.

Lawrence nodded back frequently.

He liked this feeling, completely enjoying the thrill that power brought.

This was sothing he had never experienced as a rchant.

The slaves’ canteen was a spacious wooden house, with dozens of tables neatly arranged inside, each with six chairs.

Lawrence was the first to enter.

Xue Rui was about to follow.

Labette quickly caught up to Xue Rui, emphasizing in the Snow Rabbit language, "Xue Rui, I absolutely won’t eat their slaves’ leftovers."

Xue Rui ignored him and walked straight in.

Labette turned to the other clan mbers, repeating in a low voice,

"We Snow Rabbit People haven’t had our fill for so long, but we must not eat their leftovers."

"It’s an insult to us. Even if we starve, we must not eat their leftovers!"

The other Snow Rabbit People also just glanced at Labette, not paying much attention and following Xue Rui into the canteen one by one.

They were still savoring the taste of the jerky from noon.

The won in the slaves’ canteen saw Lawrence coming, quickly greeted him, "Lord Lawrence."

Lawrence waved his hand slightly, "They are workers newly hired by the Lord, bring out the leftover food from tonight for them."

"Yes, Lord Lawrence."

The won responded promptly, skillfully serving the dishes from the pots, carrying plate after plate to the tables.

The slaves only had two dishes, a soup, and so black bread as a staple at night.

There wasn’t much work in winter, so the two dishes were pickled wild vegetables, mainly to provide salt for the slaves’ bodies.

However, the soup had so bones and scraps of at.

Although simple, these dishes were served separately, very neatly.

Each Snow Rabbit person got a wooden tray with four compartnts, three large and one small, holding two pickles and a bowl of soup.

The largest compartnt contained two bulky pieces of black bread.

This was Luo De’s requirent.

Luo De liked order; even the slaves’ als couldn’t be mixed like pig food.

At least the dishes couldn’t be mixed together when served.

Xue Rui saw the neatly arranged al trays, her ears stood up in surprise,

"Is this leftovers?"

"Yes, it is, we made a bit too much today, and the slaves didn’t finish it."

Lawrence said nonchalantly.

"But shouldn’t leftovers be all mixed together?"

Xue Rui hesitantly asked, nervously rubbing the hem of her clothes with her paws.

"Our leftovers are what’s left after portioning out, not what was left unfinished by the slaves."

Lawrence found his own words a bit convoluted, impatiently waving his hand,

"Hurry up and eat, after you finish, I’ll take you to rest. You need to get up early for work tomorrow."
