Now reading: Chapter 138: Ways to help her from Fated: The Alpha's Unwanted Luna, a Fantasy novel by Ash20.

"Let’s assu it is spiritual, Doctor Gilbert, do you have any ideas on how to break it and wake her wolf?" He inquired, his fingers tapping on his desk as Gilbert began to look through his father’s research file, as unlike the past generation, the new generation of werewolf healers were beginning to rely more on modern treatnt thods and forgetting the old ways where healers used herbs and sotis a witch’s magic to cure things.

The witch’s way had been banned when it began to beco clear that witches were cunning beings who took advantage of werewolves, and were sotis paid to harm people, like they had hard Sebastian’s parents and caused the accident that took their lives. The thought of it always sent fire and regret into his veins, so he tried not to think about it often.

"Here it is. From what is docunted here, I believe the only way to wake a sleeping wolf can be achieved when the person finds their mate, but that will be impossible since without their wolf they can’t sense their mate, only the mate can do that."

"How can the mate help the person?" Sebastian asked, his expression never changing from his neutral curiosity.

Gilbert laughed softly, "I find it cheesy and totally unreliable, but it says the mate can help by giving the person a sense of safety and security. Constantly being close, being intimate with the person and letting them feel the mate’s presence might actually help in awakening the sleeping wolf. Though, just like I said, this source might not be a reliable one as it hasn’t been tested, but there is no harm in letting this person step out more and mingle among males so a potential mate can sense them." The doctor then added with thoughtful eyes,

"Actually, I would like to test this thod and fill in the research file. If you wouldn’t mind it, Alpha, can I have the contact of this person? I can work together with her and get to—"

Sebastian didn’t even need to think twice before he rejected those questions, for he already knew where it was leading. "No. She is not a test subject to be used for healers."

The thought of Viola spending her days with Gilbert, whom his sister was smitten by because she believed he was a hunk and a handso man, one she even dreamt about while sleeping through her sickness, smiling and cuddling her pillow and calling his na, didn’t sit well with Sebastian.

He wouldn’t let his mate anywhere near this doctor, not to ntion he didn’t want the doctor taking her out to et other n when he was her mate and could do the job of testing it himself.

The thought of Viola getting smitten by the doctor like his silly sister and muttering his na in her sleep made his expression darken and his lips press into a grim line. That was completely unacceptable!

Furthermore, he didn’t want any attention coming to her by revealing her to the doctor. If there was anything that needed to be done, he would do it himself.

"What else does the report say?" Sebastian demanded a little harshly, angry and fighting the urge to smack the doctor’s face, so that if Viola ever saw him, she wouldn’t be so smitten.

Gilbert snapped out of his shock at the Alpha’s rejection of giving him the person’s contact, and he felt a shiver crawl down his spine when he was t with Sebastian’s suddenly colder eyes and dark expression. What had he done wrong to so suddenly upset the Alpha? All he asked for was a contact!

"Ah, I guess that’s all. Having a mate’s presence and putting her trust in him might help lure the wolf awake from its deep slumber. As the saying goes, mates are the cure to each others sickness. But again, it’s not a reliable—"

"I know. I will tell her that," Sebastian said before adding a question he had wanted to ask. "By the way, do you know any human therapist in the human land?"

Doctor Gilbert was one of the healers who had stepped into the human land to learn their dicines, and if there was anyone who could connect him to a therapist, it was him.

At the Alpha’s question, the doctor was taken aback, but he still gave an answer. "I know a few, why?"

"Can you connect with one? Right now, if possible."

Gilbert blinked but he didn’t ask questions. Though they lived in a different world from the humans and humans didn’t even know about their existence, so werewolves still had connections to them and kept a few contacts, as they would sotis pretend to be human to carry out important matters.

Gilbert soon connected the Alpha to a therapist, a clinical psychologist he knew in Arica where he had once gone to study human dicine. Once the call was answered and he introduced Sebastian as a close friend, Sebastian disconnected Gilbert from the three-way call, leaving him alone with the clinical psychologist.

Sebastian wasn’t an expert in speaking with or handling humans, but since he was posing as one himself, he didn’t hide what he wanted to know from the person on the line who didn’t live in their world.

He was doing this because he wanted to understand Viola’s trauma and find ways to help her heal from it, as he didn’t like how little she thought of herself or how tightly closed off she was to him. Her wounds went deeper than the surface, and without understanding those wounds, he would never know how to cure them.

From everything he had dug up about her past and the little he knew about her now, she wasn’t the sa person she once was, and from what she had confessed during her drunken state, she had been a very unfeeling person and had done things she deeply regretted.

She thought so badly of herself that Sebastian didn’t need an expert to tell him that broken people like that could easily harm themselves or break themselves further because they held no self-worth. Not to ntion he wanted to help with any trauma just in case it was the reason behind her wolf not awakening.

With those walls so high around herself, walls so strong she couldn’t even allow herself to enjoy his kiss and pushed away his intimacy, Sebastian was certain that unless she was healed, she wouldn’t be able to see herself clearly, nor see him, if she turned out to be the one he was searching for.

Regardless of whether she was the one or not, Sebastian wanted to see the real Viola, not a broken one with pained eyes and a bleeding heart that spilled over and cut his insides open.

He explained everything to the clinical psychologist, and the middle-aged man listened carefully, adjusting his thin glasses on the bridge of his nose before he said,

"You want to cure her." It was more of a statent than a question.

"Yes." The word ca out too fast, but Sebastian didn’t care, as this person was on the other side of the world. "I don’t want her to keep hurting herself because of her traumas. I want to know how to fix her."

The man studied him for a mont before he asked, "Who is she to you, if you don’t mind my asking, Mr. Kade?"

"She’s my wife." Sebastian inford him bluntly without a blink of his eyes. It wasn’t a lie, she would soon be his wife, so he didn’t see why he shouldn’t address her as such.

The man nodded his head. "Let ask you sothing," he said, looking at Sebastian through the screen. "If soone breaks their leg in an accident, can you force the bone to heal faster simply by wanting to fix it badly enough?"

Sebastian frowned. "No."

"Emotional trauma works in a similar way. The injury isn’t visible, but the healing process still takes ti."

Sebastian leaned back in his chair slightly, listening to the doctor quietly.

"When a person carries deep trauma, their mind often builds a belief system around it. In her case, that belief seems to be that she is worthless and that speaking up for herself is not worth it."

"What if I tell her she’s worthy, will that help her?" Sebastian questioned, and the man laughed a little.

"The problem isn’t a lack of information, Mr. Kade. It’s that her brain has learned a different story through her experiences."

Sebastian suddenly looked frustrated. "So how can I help her? Does that an she just lives like that, with a mountain of rocks around herself?"

"No," the man said. "You can’t overwrite that belief with logic alone."

Sebastian tapped the desk lightly, listening. He spent almost an hour talking to the therapist on Viola’s behalf, and by the ti he was done, he realized the sun had set behind the horizon and the city lights were coming on, including the ones in his office.

Sebastian never knew there would co a ti when he would have to master patience, for everything the man had told him seed like sothing that couldn’t be fixed overnight the way he had hoped it would be. Gilbert had advised that there was a chance of her wolf awakening if he spent more ti with her, and the therapist had also said she would heal if he help her rewrite her belief system.

So technically, he had to spend more ti with her.

However, the problem now was that Sebastian couldn’t dare go to her again, not with the arriving guests whose presence he could already feel and sense. It would be questionable if they found out he had spent three nights with her in a row, when for now it was common knowledge that he was marrying her only because she had won a competition.

After their marriage, people wouldn’t question him being with her most of the ti the way they would question it now, before he had married her. Sebastian felt a wave of disappointnt wash over him at the fact that he would have to keep his distance for the ti being, until their marriage ceremony, which was in days.

"I hope you don’t skip your als again, love." He whispered softly with a deep frown, having a feeling that she might end up not eating.

With that thought in mind, Sebastian decided to text her and let her know he wouldn’t be coming tonight.
