"I also need nourishing supplents prepared for my Luna for when she wakes up. Make sure they are ready." Sebastian said to the doctor, recapping the balm and finally turning to look at Gilbert directly.
"Of course, Alpha." Gilbert said.
"You know the drill, I don’t want any words of what happened here to leave this room. No one must hear of this," Sebastian told Gilbert, who was quick to nod as his complete loyalty was with Sebastian after the Alpha had supported him in becoming a werewolf doctor when his own family had wanted him to join the warriors and do sothing different.
If it weren’t for the supre Alpha, Gilbert wouldn’t have been anywhere close to his dream. He wasn’t a man who was interested in fighting and eating enemies’ flesh to protect Alphas, he was more of a man who liked to experint and work on injuries and discover things about their kind. Hence, his loyalty had always been with Sebastian and would always be.
"You know well, supre Alpha. No word of this will leave this room." Gilbert said before he turned his eyes to the Luna and said, "From my tests on her, I have figured out she is a strong one for soone without a wolf. I don’t believe a completely wolfless person can survive that long with the amount of blood she lost. I have so supplents that I am working on to try on strengthening the wolf, if you want, I will add them to her dications." He suggested, having a feeling she must be the wolfless one the Alpha had once enquired about.
Sebastian arched a brow at the doctor who always looked for an opportunity to use soone as an experint. "Use it on soone else first and if it is safe enough, you can give it to her. For now, don’t bring it close to her."
Gilbert’s shoulders dropped in slight disappointnt because they did not have any wolfless person in Silver except for her, but then he gave a nod and bowed his head. "Very well then, I will get the reports ready as soon as possible and get back here. If there are any changes in her, you can always mind link ."
The Alpha had the power to mind link as many of his pack mbers as he wished to, but the supre Alpha always kept that limited to a few people as there was always a risk of linking to the wrong person. But among the limited people Sebastian used mind link on were Gilbert and Matt.
Gilbert quietly excused himself from the room.
When he was gone, Matt settled himself against the wall and asked, "Do you have any idea who was behind this one?"
Sebastian’s eyes went cold and dark at those question.
"Not a na. But whoever it is has been planning this for a long ti. Those bullets didn’t co from soone acting on impulse. That kind of preparation takes ti and resources and knowledge about what kills a supre Alpha, knowledge that very few people have." He said, his eyes drifting back to Viola’s face. His enemies were many and so of them were hiding in plain sight within his own pack and his own bloodline, careful and patient and impossible to flush out through ordinary ans.
But this ti they had gone too far. Whatever ga they were playing had reached out and touched soone he was determined to protect, and that changed the rules entirely.
He had always kept his enemies close in a way that allowed him to track their movents, but it seed this person wasn’t among the enemies he was already aware of, and if the person was, then they had played the ga differently this ti around, just like when Zoe had taken the bullet for him years ago.
That incident had happened unexpectedly after his Luna’s funeral and up until this mont, Sebastian had failed to flush out that culprit despite all the investigations done.
"We will have to make them show themselves." Sebastian said.
"How?" Matt asked, genuinely curious, because the n they had captured from the group that had chased Viola down the road had given them nothing useful under questioning.
Every one of them had claid they were approached by strangers carrying posters and had no knowledge of who was behind the order. The strangers themselves had left no traces in Nightshade that Matt’s n could find.
"We give them what they wanted." Sebastian said simply, still looking at Viola. "Announce my death within the next three days. The first person who moves to claim the Alpha seat will show us exactly who we are looking for. Whoever wants that seat badly enough to have gone to these lengths won’t be able to help themselves when they hear I am gone."
This plan might work because before bringing Sebastian to his main quarter, all of the oga workers had been given weeks of leave in order to avoid having any moles around. Only the trusted patrol guards were present. No one knew of him being here.
Matt was quiet for a mont and then gave a slow nod. "That is actually a very good idea." He paused and then asked, "And what about her?"
"Nobody will think about her if the Alpha is announced dead. She stays here until I find whoever is behind this. I also still need to find out what happened to her twin." He said, his voice dropping slightly on those last words. He had given her his word on that and he intended to keep it. Just as she had kept him alive with everything she had left in her. Sebastian felt sothing swell quietly in his chest at the thought of it.
He didn’t like seeing her like this. Even knowing she was out of danger and on the other side of the worst of it, the worry hadn’t left him and he didn’t think it would until she opened her eyes and said sothing to him, even argue with him. He liked her that way more than this way.
After Matt had told him everything she had done, Sebastian still couldn’t fully absorb it. No one had ever done what she did for him. He had been through more life threatening situations than he could count and had always found his way out of them by himself or with his warriors at his back.
But hearing that she had driven through a wolf attack and over a bridge she was terrified of with a dagger wound in her back, thinking about him and not herself the entire ti, was sothing he didn’t have a word for. It sat in his chest like sothing that would never go away, because it ant more than anything to him.
He had always known she was brave, braver than even the she-wolves with Alpha wolves that he had known before, because he was certain none of them would have done what she had done for him, staying by his side through all of that. He could no longer recall why he had ever thought of her as weak and unfitting for the position of his Luna. He tenderly touched her cool cheek with the back of his hand, rubbing it gently as he said to Matt,
"I want to make her more happier than she is when she wakes up. Gather so of the warriors and send them back to Nightshade. I need to find her twin."
