"What happened?" I asked as I went after her.
"That bitch Remi got there first; she stripped for him. I can’t believe it," she hissed loudly.
"Really?" I chuckled, not so surprised by the news. "She’s now your rival," I laughed.
"What rival?" She stopped walking and frowned. "That damn bitch is not my rival. How can you compare...?" She stopped speaking when she heard her na.
Looking back, we saw who it was—the new professor, Dominic.
He was coming toward us. Okay, this is getting intriguing.
When he reached us, he stopped and focused on Ruby. "I... I’d like to apologize for that," he said, referring to the ti in his office.
Ruby’s face turned red imdiately. "It felt like you had sothing to say. Did you not understand today’s lecture?"
"No, why not?" Ruby blushed. "Actually, yes, I didn’t understand it," she admitted.
"Ohh."
"I ca to your office hoping you’d explain the confusing part to ," she said.
"Ohh."
"Could you help with that?"
"Of course, it’s my duty to make sure you understand," he agreed.
"Alright, can I have your number? I’ll call you and fix a date."
"Oh no, I can’t do that," Prof. Dominic refused.
"Huh, why?" The smile on Ruby’s face faded.
"I don’t exchange my personal contact with students."
"You don’t exchange numbers with students?" Ruby looked confused.
"Yes. Do you have ti now? Could you spare about thirty minutes? I could give you both a rundown of today’s topic."
"Now?"
"Yeah, now. You can wait in this class; I’ll grab my materials and et you there."
"Alright, I will," Ruby flashed him the biggest smile as he walked off.
"He doesn’t seem interested in you," I observed.
"He wouldn’t have offered to teach if he wasn’t interested; he’ll give a private lecture," she retorted, smiling as she watched him disappear down the hallway.
"Alright, I’ll grab a quick bite; good luck with your ’private lecture,’" I whispered and started to walk away.
"I’ll join you in thirty minutes, baby," she half-yelled, and I waved.
I got to the school cafeteria, ordered a king-size burger, and went to my table to eat, but I’d barely sat down before a male student sat opposite .
His hair was tinted red, and his shirt was unbuttoned, revealing his chest tattoo. He seed like the typical playboy you’d see in high schools. But this isn’t high school—this is college. A private one. I’m not sure this type of dressing is allowed here. His jeans are ripped, and his boxers are visible for all to see.
But I’m not worried about his dressing; I’m more concerned about his reason for sitting here. This table belongs to . No other student is allowed to sit here. Everyone in school knows this. Why is he sitting at my table? Or is he a freshman? Even if he is, didn’t he read the rules?
And don’t get wrong, I don’t have a problem with a male sitting at my table; it’s just that the brothers don’t want it. They tend to stir up trouble for any male student who dares to approach . It’s part of the school rules. As a male, you mustn’t co close to . You must not sit at my table or near during a lecture. You must turn the other way when you see approaching.
Before he was admitted into this school, he must have seen the rules; the school authorities made sure students understood them before granting admission. Things have been peaceful for so ti; no student has broken the rules. Students who broke them in the past faced consequences.
Is this Playboy about to stir up trouble for now? I hope not.
Clearing my throat, I leaned closer to warn him.
"Excuse ," I whispered, trying to get his attention, but he was focused on a more decently dressed guy who I suspected was also a freshman. The guy was coming to us with two trays.
When he reached us, he stopped and glanced at .
"What are you doing here? Don’t you rember the rules?" The decently dressed guy whispered to the Playboy.
But the playboy seed not to care. "What are you whispering about? Sit down, I’m famished." He pulled the other guy closer, took a tray, and started to eat.
Oh, there’s no need to warn him. He knows the rules; he just doesn’t want to follow them.
Well, I don’t mind. I just hope he doesn’t get expelled today.
I returned my focus to my burger and took a giant bite.
Halfway through, the playboy fixed his gaze on .
"You’ve got cheese on your lips; wipe it off, it’s bothering ," he groaned.
Cheese on my lips? I considered responding but quickly decided against it. Why should he care if I have sothing on my lips? He should focus on his lunch while I focus on mine.
"Won’t you wipe it? Do you want to do it for you, princess?"
Princess? A scoff almost escaped my lips, but I held it back. He doesn’t have the right to address that way.
I took another bite from my burger and started to chew, but the next thing I knew, he was leaning closer to .
He leaned over the table and wiped the cheese from my lips, startling in the process.
I flinched and drew back. Is he crazy? My eyes widened as I stared at him.
"Why are you staring at ?" He locked gazes with . "I warned you, didn’t I? It was bothering . You should have listened."
He returned to his seat and resud his al. It took a few seconds to compose myself, and when I finally did, I noticed nurous eyes on .
It made nervous, and I started to wish Ruby were present. Maybe this wouldn’t have happened if she were here. This guy must be a nutcase.
I grabbed a wipe and cleaned my lips. After that, I stood up and tried to leave the cafeteria, but the playboy didn’t let go.
He held my wrist, stopping . Then he looked up to et my gaze. "I’m not done eating; where are you going?" He frowned. His question confused and silenced .
For several minutes, I stood there staring at him. When I finally regained my senses, I snatched my hand away and, without a word, started to leave the cafeteria.
"I don’t like eating alone, but I’ll let you off since it’s your first ti," he called after . When I got to a quieter section of the school, I paused and took a deep breath.
Who the hell was that? And why is my heart pounding so fast? I’ve never t him before. Why does it feel like my heart is about to burst out of my chest?
I should have challenged or threatened him for daring to touch , but instead, I ran out of the cafeteria like a scaredy-cat.
But this feeling... It’s not right. It’s not normal. Sothing is wrong. I usually don’t beco this scared of people, but there’s sothing about him that’s quite unsettling. I wonder what it is.
**
"Hey!" Ruby ca close and yelled into my ear, startling .
"Ruby," I groaned. "Stop scaring ."
"Why are you scared? I’ve been standing here for the past three minutes. Why are you so lost in thought? What are you thinking about? And why do you keep caressing your chest?"
"So many questions, which one should I answer?" I said, standing to leave, but she guided back to my seat.
"There’s still fifteen minutes left. I got fries from the cafeteria, but I didn’t see you there." She sat beside . "What happened? Why do you seem lost in thought?"
I sighed. "I don’t know," I murmured.
"You don’t know? You didn’t notice when I ca in. You were so lost; sothing is bothering you. Tell ."
"No," I shook my head. "It’s nothing."
"Why are you lying?"
"How did the lecture go?" I imdiately changed the topic.
"I won’t tell you how it went if you don’t tell about this. Don’t change the topic; talk to ."
"Ruby, I..." I exhaled, confused.
"You what? Speak," she urged.
"I want to tell you, but I don’t know how. It feels weird." I placed my hand on my chest and began to massage it.
"What feels weird? Talk to ," she urged.
"Sothing happened at the cafeteria," I began.
"What happened?" She faced , appearing curious.
I also faced her, but as I opened my mouth to speak, I beca lost again.
"Ara! What is it? You’re making anxious. Speak," she demanded.
"There’s this guy I saw at the cafeteria; his hair was tinted red," I continued.
"Okay? What happened with him?"
"He sat at my table."
"He sat at your table?" She frowned. "Doesn’t he know the rules?"
"Exactly. That was exactly my thought."
"Did you send him away? Did the security team arrest him?"
"No, they didn’t. I excused myself when I could no longer stay there."
"What? You left? Tell everything. Narrate everything to ," she demanded, but I didn’t. I had other important things to say, so I refused.
"I have a question to ask you," I said.
"Alright, ask away."
"Is it possible to have a new mate? Would it be weird if I suddenly got a new mate?"
"A new mate?" She frowned.
"Yeah," I nodded, eyes widening in anticipation.
She leaned away from . "Do you think the guy you t at the cafeteria is your mate? Do you think you have a new mate?" She questioned, and I nodded.
"That’s how I feel. I think that guy... I feel that he’s my fifth mate." I revealed.
"What?" She exclaid.
